The engine. The engine never changes.......

Simply put, I think Fallout is being hurt by the Gamebryo engine, and any of the versions of it Bethesda may come up with. I would like to Fallout to look like Metro Last Light and play with the gun mechanics of Stalker CoP, but I don't think it's possible on this engine. If you all were to have the choice of an engine for Fallout to be made on, what would it be?

BTW I'm talking about Fallout as a whole, please don't move this to FO4 speculation mods.

I feel that if fallout were to have Metro Last Light graphics it would slightly ruin the game,

Fallout isn't about graphics and is more about the feel of the apocalyptic world, if fallout was given metros graphics I feel it would become much more serious and depressing.. which I wouldn't like

Gun mechanics doesn't have anything to do with the graphic engine.

What Bethesda need, considering the size of their games, is an engine it's easy to develop content for. That's what they been doing in the past, going with better and easier to develop content over render speed, which also has proven to be a very good thing not only for the Betehsda developers building the game, but for the modding community too. Which is why we have thousands and thousands of mods for each modern Bethesda game since 2002.

I'm fairly sure Fallout4 will be using the modified Gamebyo used in skyrim.

I do think they can change engine after Fallout4 in TES6.

But we are talking like 5 years from now.

Your "problem" is not the engine, it's the gameplay. Fallout can't be like Metro or Stalker as long as you can have a gun that shoot out miniature nukes, or a suit or armor that makes you invincible, or being able to dose yourself with enough drugs to knock down a building with your bare hand. And shall we remove these awesome things about the series just so the few of you can enjoy gritty realism? Hell no, son! :fallout:

Fallout is an RPG with character progression, not an atmospheric shooter.

Why avoid radiation and environmental death traps while you can set your Endurance to 10, run in head first while grabbing artifacts all willy nilly, stabbing yourself with stimpaks and blaring 50s rock? ...Know what I mean?

I was going to say exactly this^

Fallout isnt one of the linear shooters you mentioned. Its an epic RPG in an open world where you can do whatever you damn well please.

This doesn't make sense. You are talking about the art style. The graphics are fine in metro and I want them, you just tweak them to fit fallout.

Hmm, I think it was you that showed me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1LYb2qRMuY. That's how I want the next game look like; more fantastical and sci-fi... Like Rage rather than clean and realistic Metro and Stalker.
