The Epic sights of Daggerfall

Post » Fri Jun 25, 2010 9:41 pm

When ever i walk into one of the great areas of Daggerfall, a sense of epicness washes over me. This game is truely amazing. I gasped the first time i saw Castle Daggerfall.

Post here what you think is the most epic and Amazing place in Daggerfall.

Be it Castle Daggerfall. Be it the first time you left privateers hold and got a view of the land...or the first time you entered the Temple of Dibella ;)

Temple of Kynareth is better than temple of Dibella IMO...

I like one of the dungeon areas... the one with the 4 or 5 towers of varying heights and array of walkways (If I remember, some of them are movable and bound to levers/winches), and a door in the middle of an alcove, and treasure-filled, trapped alcove. Massive Jumping/Climbing skill FTW!!!!

Definately the first time I stepped out of Privateer's Hold.
I don't think I'll ever feel that same sense of wonderment with any other game.

That dungeon on Betony (ugh forget what it was called, but it was a MQ dungeon) was pretty funky. :D The really tall one.

Nonsense, the temples of Akatosh were the best :hubbahubba:

Walking toward castle Sentinel was always a pretty cool sight, as the great palace came into view.

I love the city of Sentinel as a whole. It's just so messily arranged and it has some of the more "unique" building shapes, it really feels a lot more interesting than most of the other towns.

I also like Wrothgaria, it's just pretty to me. I was always a svcker for that town texture scheme, the "highland" stony one.

Never been there. Clearly, I need to visit.

I wish dungeon entrances that had more than one, ahem, entrance, led you to different points in the dungeon. That'd be a bit imbalanced at times, but maybe each entrance could still be pretty relative to how far it would be from quest locations and whatnot.

I mean, I spent a minute of my life CLIMBING the Direnni Tower only to find the trap door at the top leads to the bottom. :(

I remember that someone, a long time ago, on this forum stated they had found a dungeon (perhaps in Wayrest) with two seperate dungeon entrances/exits. I didn't follow up on it at the time, but now I wish that I had.

You will occasionally find those. However, they all start in the same place on the inside.

One of the most epic sights I had was when I opened a door in a dungeon and a Nymph was standing there.

I think he was talking about what I was talking about in my previous post - a dungeon where the multiple entrances actually lead to different starting points once you go inside...

That cannot exist in Daggerfall. Any location can only have one dungeon, and each dungeon only ever has one exit.

To put it another way, then, I would challenge anyone to find such a dungeon and report back to us where it is. I don't believe they exist.

I have seen for myself dungeons with multiple entry points, but in my experience they start in the same location once you get inside, they do not have multiple exit points, and when you exit, they always lead you to the same location outside (i.e., not necessarily the location from which you entered). This is pretty close to what JW's correspondent related...also note that we're playing a little game of Telephone here.

It would be cool, though, I'll grant that, and of course MW did satisfy us with some caves that did that (e.g., Palansour, if memory serves), plus many residences and the like also fulfilled that real-world truism.
