Somebody explain to me how a facebook games company passes a game corporation. A very popular game corporation.

Well emailing all 80 million of your users may have helped.

Well we can pretty much call it in favor of Zynga then. Every time Zynga has passed the developers in previous rounds, the other devs weren't able to catch up. Now that Zynga is ahead of Valve, I can't imagine them losing.

This svcks.

By advertising in their (ludicrously popular) browser-based games.

Stick a fork in this competition; it's done.

More people play their little games then even know who Valve is. No matter how much they try to fill the void in this popularity contest they'll still know they can never truly compare to any of the other companies on that list.

Yeah, you're right. I guess in the end Valve is still a corporation and Zynga is still a facebook games company.

Valve may be able to strike back. After all, the match doesn't end until Saturday.

I'm going to do the unthinkable. I'm going to advertise this on /b/. Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

It's practically 50-50 right now. It's too bad another wave of Zynga voters will come in sooner or later. I believe in you Valve!

Zynga is more of a "game corporation" than Valve is :)

Let's remember that this is a developer showdown, and Zynga does develop games - albeit casual games.

Next year I hope they run two separate competitions, one for free games (Zynga, Bay 12 Games, and big flash game developers like Armor Games) and one for games you have to pay for. This would not only even some things out since free games can more easily get huge audiences but it would bring a lot of these other popular developers some time in the limelight. I don't play Dwarf Fortress myself but I'm sure the DF fans would love to see Bay 12 Games in a competition like this. Sure they'd likely loose to the heavyweights like Zynga but then Bethesda will always have considerable difficulty against an MMO developer: the online component really does make advertising easier if the developer takes advantage of it (some do, some don't).

How did a silly little nothing like Zynga even gain entry into a tournament like this? Isn't it mostly a front for pushing scams? Do they even have employees?

I wasn't planning on getting involved but I just had to register an account to vote for valve, amazing to see how much has been voted in this round.

What I really hate is all the Zynga voters coming and leaving all these pointless derogatory comments.

Sounds like a good idea. We should all request that and see what they say.

It's making me feel a bit ill really. I just can't believe we don't have enough gamers around to bet them.

I just retweeted so Valve would get my second vote.

The only hope I have left if that people are tweeting their votes too. But unfortunately people don't seem to realize that you have to link your twitter account with your account on The Escapist or it wont count. :brokencomputer:

I can't believe we've all went and got 10,000 people to vote for Valve and they're still being passed by Zynga. It's maddening.

Well if Valve advertised the competition on Steam, they would definitely win.
I don't think they really care though.

How did Zynga even get into this competition? I understand that they are a valid company (if morally dubious), but they are (if I understand correctly) the only dev on there not to make games you can actually buy and play. I'm finding it hard not to get annoyed that they're going to beat Valve, I hope the Escapist feels guilty for even including them.

I think that the ability to vote through facebook really messed up the tournament by lowering the barrier for those who play facebook-games to vote without having to register on the escapist. Are they going to let us vote with our steam accounts next time (at least that platform has multiple developers publishing games)?

Valve put an announcement on Steam(when you start it up), so there may be some more votes.

YEEEEESSSSS! There may still be hope!

I know it's not any different than what Zynga is doing, but... I like Valve
