The EUUS Files Problems - Post your ways to fix it here.

Post » Fri Mar 14, 2014 5:27 pm

Last beta I played on US. Then I switched to EU for this beta and today when I opened launcher it created EU folder and started to download the whole game again.

First I tried to rename "The Elder Scrolls Online" into "The Elder Scrolls Online EU", it worked, my EU game launched with version 1.0.0.941004. But "Could Not Load News" appeared in news section of EU launcher.

I made a duplicated copy of EU folder and renamed it into "The Elder Scrolls Online" in order to recover US version. Opened launcher and received that manifest error.

My next move is to uninstall both, install both and stop installation, replace it with old US files and then re-open launcher and let it check files.

Will update when I have some results.

** worked **

The 'could not load news' is most likely to do with something at their end. You got it right the first time you renamed the folder, so just repeat what you did to have the launcher set to EU, have the play button active and also get to the log-in screen without a crash. You should be fine after that.

Damn dude, just reinstall your operating system while you're at it, lol.

But seriously, renaming the file and then running the repair tool should fix the problems. The other errors - like unable to load news - are most likely coming from their end in preparation for the servers' opening.

Success, EU files checked and fully completed. News are working fine too now.

Same should work for US, but I don't need US now.

I started downloading 2 days ago.

Today I had one hour left to go. I got asked about EU, and I confirmed that I wanted EU.

The game finished downloading, then produced a manifest error.

I restarted the client, now it's starting the download from scratch. It looks like I'm not alone, I'm on the Mac client. I hope someone can advise exactly what needs to be done.

Yeah, it's completely wiped out the 22GB that finished downloading this morning. There's only one folder now with nothing in it.

Well done guys, great bit of programming there.

If you do not have previous copy of US game, I would suggest to install(download) US now. Then repeat my steps to install EU.

Because you might get another error when downloading EU.

Before you start, check what is the size of your game folder, if it is big enough you can save it somewhere. Then uninstall the game, then install it again, stop installation and close launcher. Then copy your existing files to new created game folder and reopen launcher and see if it will continue download from there.

Try with both US and EU versions.

I literally cannot free up 60GB on my SSD. Even if I entirely removed Elder Scrolls Online I wouldn't be able to free up that much space. Is there another way around this; or do I have to put it on my HDD?

Are you trying to install directly to the SSD? After compression the game sits at around 30gb so you might be able to copy the folder from the HDD to the SSD? Not sure though, but might be worth a try if you have the time.

That's why I never install anything on SSD unless I am sure that I will use it and I wont have problems with it :)

Test on HDD then copy to SSD when everything works fine. I removed everything from my US folder, its empty.. EU is working perfect alone.

Unfortunately didnt look at any of these posts before trying to repair and now I have to re-download the whole game again because it tried to re-download the whole 22GB so I stopped it then it deleted itself -.- (atleast 1.7mB/s download speed)
This is seriously BS why have the option to change to EU for this beta if they aren't going to be running the EU server and it's going to be cocking everybodys downloads up. No cookie for you ESO many people will fall for this in their excitement to play EU like I did.
"Greetings Wanderer,
Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team!
This can happen if the region setting on the launcher is switched either manually or automatically from "United States" to "Europe." It is important to note that while you can set their region to Europe in the ESO launcher's Settings menu, the current beta will ONLY be testing the North American server and requires the region to be set to the United States.
If this switch occurred by accident, there is a work-around that will allow players to access the beta without having to re-install the game yet again.
The steps are listed below.
Windows users:
  1. Click "Settings" (marked by a cog symbol) in the top right corner of the launcher.
  2. Change the region to "United States" and click "Apply."
  3. Exit the launcher and locate the client's install folder (most often C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online).
  4. Rename the folder "The Elder Scrolls Online (EU)" to "The Elder Scrolls Online."
  5. Open the launcher to ensure that the region is still set to "United States" in Settings and that it can access the North American server.
Mac users:
  1. Click "Settings" (marked by a cog symbol) in the top right corner of the launcher.
  2. Change the region to "United States" and click "Apply."
  3. Exit the launcher and locate the client's install folder (Navigate to "Finder", then click "Application" and finally "Zenimax Online").
  4. Rename the folder "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" to "The Elder Scrolls Online."
  5. Open the launcher to ensure that the region is still set to "United States" in Settings and that it can access the North American server.
Feel free to contact customer support if they have any further issues downloading the client or connecting to the beta server.
Blessings of the moon upon you,
Thank you for your continued interest and support!
Warm Regards,
The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

Well that's just great. The launcher ENCOURAGED me to switch to EU this morning. This is a debacle.

I have found a solution for the problem. Drag ESO to trash, get on with life.

Do you have any folders available to you on your HDD that have 29.9gb filesize? Or was it just the one folder and it has wiped it?

My solution will be go to work 1.30-9 then hopefully it's done by the time I get back, aslong as my sneaky little brother doesn't switch off my computer for throttling the internet hahaha

And no I dont have any other 29.9gb folders it has completely deleted itself as far as I can tell

I'm in the EU, only had the US client.

I just tried logging in.

It came up with the manifest patch error thing, I ignored it.

It then came up with a window saying something along the lines of

"We can see you are in the EU, the EU megaserver is up this weekend, would you like to migrate to it?"

I selected (cant remember ) yes/apply/OK, it then spent about 30 seconds saying it was downloading, then it was all done for me.

The launcher window now says The Elder Scrolls Online EU

If you had game already installed and it wants to re-download:

1. switch the servers (Click the accept/apply prompt)

2. interrupt the process (clicking X should work)

4. run the launcher again

3. click on "GAME OPTIONS" above the "could not load news" and select "Repair"

this way it only checks the gamefiles (+-10 minutes)

that information is NOT from this beta but a previous one

there are no longer 2 versions of the same client just one that works for both servers

Try clicking on the words EU server in the left pane and everything should work fine.
