The Ever-Winter

First and formost I did not steal this RP as many of you may or may not remember it this rp was someone elses but I assure you I messaged him and he messaged me back about making this rp again, much of this I took clean out of the original thread so it may be off centered. anyone that I remember from the original thread is welcome to come back immediatly repost their characters and rp again, anyone else your awnser is in the rules.

A freezing wind is blowing from the North, from the frozen wastelands of Atmora, stopping the natural cycle of the seasons, drowning Tamriel in a permanent and deadly winter, the worst ever seen. No one is sure why this sudden change in climate has come about, not even the scholars of Alinor.

Entire towns have been wiped out, now leaving frozen ghost towns which bands of survivors frequently raid for supplies, and most importantly wood so that they can build fires and keep warm. Avoiding the going out is the key to survival, but everyone must venture out of the their underground havens at some stage. Many do not return, succumbing to the cold in mere minutes, others make it back but do not survive for much longer, already having caught what the survivors call "The Chill" an irreversible drop in body temperature causing a slow and painful death. Those who do survive all of this are some of the hardiest men and mer in Tamriel with an intimate knowledge of reading the weather and how to conserve best their energy.

Only one above ground stronghold remains, Vivec, the ancient city, although few people still reside in the upper cantons, keeping to the lower levels where the heat is stronger. Mainly inhabited by females and children, Vivec has become a beacon of hope in the bleakness of despair, great bands of survivors travel great distances to get to Vivec, most perishing on the journey, for a better chance of survival. Knowing there is not enough space, most males who arrive in Vivec do so accompanying their mate and their children, once seeing their loved ones safely into the walls; they rest before turning back out into the blindingly white landscape, seeking the shelter of any cave or ruin they can find.

Surviving scholars dedicate their time to finding the cause of "The Ever-Winter", some say that it is punishment from the gods for our sins; some say that it is infernal magic from powerful sorcerers on Atmora, even though no life has been spied on Atmora by explorers, but perhaps they are in hiding or do not live near the coast. One thing is for certain though, the winter has been raging for 5 years now and shows no sign of slowing, for every year it worsens. Something must be done to put an end to it, somehow.

Where do you fit in?

You're one of the few remaining survivors, just trying to live in the now deadly world. Soon you begin to notice there are others like you, and that together you have a higher chance of surviving. Rumours are drifting around that the Imperial City is the main beacon of hope, and survivors are flocking there in search of shelter.

As I find myself short of an RP (been trying to join a steady RP for months now) I will join this one. If it is OK, I would like to use the char from the last RP I joined (a Nord). Will PM the char sheet soon.

PS: frozen world. Would that mean snow demons from Akavir?

no, the snow demons freeze in cold climates, and only invade in the summer or spring when its warm enough for them to thaw out and come back to life.

Name: Malkai Marvani
Nickname: Kai
Race: Dunmer
Age: 76, looks to be 30
Gender: Male

Focus: Combat
Skills: Dual Daggers, speed, jumping, and armorer
Class: Sergeant

General appearance: Kai is smaller than most in physical size. He has a scar across his right eye where he barely escaped a sword when dodging it. Though he doesn't lack muscle, he wouldn't be able to go hit for hit with a Nord, but athletic and agile build allows him to dodge most hits coming his way.
Hair: Black and pulled back into a ponytail
Eye Colour: Crimson Red
Height: 6'0"
Tattoos/Scars: Kai has the scar across his right eye. He also has the tattoo of the Sergeant Rank on the left side of his neck.
Mental Description: Kai always tries to be calm, though he is ready to act at a moments notice, and is not afraid of even the tallest Nord. Fear was something that was scared out of him from his youth.

Weapon(s): Carries two ebony daggers, and one smaller silver dagger in his boot
Apparel: He wears black leather pants with a black leather vest on top of a long sleeved black shirt with black boots. Over that he wears a cloak made out of wolf skin that covers his entire body except for his eyes.

Bio: Kai was the son of a blacksmith for the army. Not wanting to follow his fathers footsteps, and being intrigued with battle from an early age, he began to train with some of the military kids. He quickly learned to fight with a dagger, as little kids often started with, and growing attached to it, didn't want to give it up. In order to be more of an asset in combat, he picked up a second dagger, and bagan to create techniques on his own becuase he wasn't able to find a trainer. He fought in armies, eventually earning the rank of Sergeant. He was working as a mercenary when the Ever-Winter started.

Name: Wrothgar the Cautious
Age: 61
Race: Nord
Gender: male

General Appearance: strong, tall (185cm; 6'1"), muscular. Grey eyes, long blond hair. Used to be the cream of Skyrim's fighting force, but his age has taken away some of the fitness; still an able fighter. His skin is worn out by the long life of living outdoors, fighting for survival. His body is full of scars, but his face is without them.

Clothing: he dresses plainly but warmly (fur, wool, linen, the usual). No point in dressing in rags. A brown cloak with a hood to protect him from cold and snow.

Armor: uses a full Dwemer armor with shield, reconstructed and polished by his own hands.

Weapons: a great two-handed silver war axe carried on his back; steel longsword on his hip; glass dagger strapped to his leg. Hunting bow for shooting game, some arrows

Miscellaneous equipment: survival kit (the usual: food, bedroll, cooking stuff, fire kit)

Skills (in game): heavy armor, blunt weapon, blade, hand to hand, armorer
Skills (non game): swimming, climbing, riding, hunting, other outdoor survival skills, surgical skills (battlefield surgery)

Personality: unlike most Nords, Wrothgar is somewhat of a legend among his kin since he marches into battle with his wits collected and calm. Capable of great concentration, he is not fooled easily. Like most warrior races of Tamriel, he considers dying with personal dignity and honor more important than living without them. Feeling fear will shame him, therefore he will go to great efforts to cleanse himself of that shame with even more heroic efforts. Respects equal and stronger warriors than himself, despises cowards, protects the weak (if he has a good reason). Kind to children, respectful to women. Strangely for a Nord, he dislikes strong liquor as it makes his mind clouded. He has had many lovers but has never married and fathered no children (not to his knowledge). Like most warriors, he distrusts magic and those that wield it.

Biography: born to a fierce warrior tribe in Skyrim. When he was a child, his tribe was attacked by a neighbouring tribe. He fled to save his life and managed to survive in the wild on his own. At fifteen he joined Skyrim's Fighters Guild, choosing to live an honorable and dignified life. After a lifetime of service as a mercenary he retired. As the cold came from the north, he fled from Skyrim to Cyrodiil like so many others.

Name: Matthew Ironheart
Nickname:
Race: Imperial
Age: 43
Gender: male
Birthsign: warrior

Focus: combat
Skills: blade,block,blunt,heavy armour,tracking

Class: Crimson Legionnaires are the cream of the crop. They are a special rescue team assembled to assist in times of need.
They are expert swordsmen, many times sent in to resolve hostage situations and kidnappings. Only well trained legionnaires are chosen to join.
They all wear the armour of the imperial legionnaires, but colored a distinctive crimson color, both to remind everyone who they are, and to symbolize the blood that is spilt.
They are all honest people with a rigid standard of honour.

General appearance: Of average imperial height, he keeps his hair cut short and his body in excellent shape.
He makes sure that he never gets too big or muscular, as to decieve his enemies of his true body strength.

Hair: brown and cut short
Eye Colour: one brown, one blue
Height: 5"10
Tattoos/Scars: as with all crimson legionnaires,he has a crimson tatoo of Akatosh on the backs of both his hands.
Mental Description: he is of average intelligence, passing his studies with an average grade. He enjoys listening to philosophy and debate on issues, but he is not a man of study.
He is usually calm, cool, and collected. But if his honour is challenged, he can get worked up really fast.

Weapon(s): a silver longsord with a crimson painted hilt, and a steel shortsword (standard Crimson weaponry)

Apparel: He wears the standard Crimson Legionnaire armour with a satchel containing a cloak, food, water,a map,and a couple resist frost potions (to fight the cold)

Bio: Matthew was raised with the intention of being a Crimson Legionnaire (CL),like his father and his grandfather. His older brother,Issac Ironheart, was raised the same way, so sometimes they competed for who they thought would lead the CL's.
Issac was smarter than Matthew and more talented with a sword, so Matthew worked hard on his blade skills, but still lacked the knowldge needed to be leader.
At the ages of 19 and 22,both Matthew and Issac passed their exams and became legionnaires. Their father nominated both of them to the current leader of the CL's,Alexander Humphrey.
Alexander taught both of them the skills needed to be in the CL's and soon the both were contestants to replace him.
In the end,Issac became the new leader of the CL's at the age of 35 with Matthew having to settle with being Issac's leuitenant.
Five years later, the "Everwinter" began, bringing the harshest winter winds to the land.
For five years the CL's were being constantly sent out to rescue civilians trapped in their homes by the storm, but almost none of them made it. Many CL's lost their lives to the winter frost, being replaced by inexperienced men.
One day, they all were sent out by a corrupt politician named Nicholas Grimhood to save some "civilians" trapped by a cave up north. They went to ivestigate and were in for a surprise.
It was a trap laid by bandits and raiders hiding in the snow to kill the CL's and sell off their items. The bandits were all killed, but 10 of the 25 men sent were dead and the others had no hope of surviving the storm.
Now the CL's must survive and get back to the Imperial city to take care of the politician who sent them out.

And you never answered my PM question.

I didnt get that for a while. Im going to make the opening post.

IC:
Flame-scale emerged slowly from the cave. Dawn had come but it had seemed like forever. It was the warmest day in a while, around -15 degrees. Wraqed in his furs he set off west from the cave. His food supply was low and he needed to replenish. He took a few steps out and looked around. Nothing but pure wasteland. Frozen solid wasteland. He had not seen anyone for days. He was begining to think he was all that was left. He had seen vauge figures in the distance but between the fog, snowstorms and the blizzards it was hard to make anything out for sure.

He milled around the snow for a good two hours when he saw a very large animal figure in the distance. Preparing for anything he drew his dagger and in his off-hand was preparing some fire. He aproched the figure crouched low so not to be seen. He was able to get fairly close in on what apeared to be a bear before being spotted. When he turned the creature took a swipe of which he dodged. Gaining ground he sunk the dagger into the side of his neck. He extinguished the fire in his hand. From his small sack held some spare clothing and kindling. He moved the sack up farther onto the rope and tied the spare rope from the bottom onto the bears neck and and made one more swipe on his throat to make sure. "Im sorry you poor creature. It has to be done." He said this softly to himself before slinging the rope over his shoulder and begining the search for a cave.

He found a small shallow cave within twenty minutes. Still no signs of life. He figured he could use the bear furs to patchwork some clothing and the meat for food. It was one of the bigger catches he had made hunting. Eating three small portions a day he would go a week before running out. He prepared his daily meal. Carved the furs off the bear and threw them in his sack. He cut the fat from the bears stomach and began to search for meat. He made a fire from a small amount of kindling and his magic talents. He took a look out of the cave and sunk his teeth into the meat.

"Noooooooooooooo!!" The blood curdling scream could have been heard for miles, if there had been anyone there to hear it. The realization of where he was and what had happened, raced to the forefront of Malkai's mind as he slowly awakened from his slumber. The events of his dream slowly came to him. He was back with his comrades, a nord by the name of Alrik and a Breton by the name of Jerome. They had known each other for about five years before the Ever-Winter started. Then one day while the three of them were exploring a cave, they accidentally stumbled upon what was left of a wolfpack. The three of them fought the wolves, but both Alrik and Jerome suffered far to many injuries to stay alive. Alrik wasn't fast enough to kill multiple wolves at a time, and Jerome could fire spells fast and safe enough to combat the wolves with out killing either Alrik or Malkai. Malkai suffered slight injuries, but was able to kill off the remained wolves, and recover in the cave after doing his best to give his comrades a proper burial. Now he was alone, but he continually searched for other survivors of the Ever-Winter.

Malkai doused the fire from the night before, then grabbing his cloak he drapped it over himself, pulling the hood up over his head. Making sure his daggers were all easily assesible, he began making his way to the cave entrance. He could the cold, the closer he got the to the entrance. It wasn't as cold as most days, but his natural affinity for fire made the cold even worse. He croushed along the side of the cave just at the entrance and poked his head out of the cave. He saw nothing, and slowly began to move out, still crouching. He made his was about five feet from the cave entrance and then stood up tall. He began scanning the horizon, looking for a sign of life anywhere. He was beginning to run low on food, and would need to catch something soon. He was also looking for a sign of any Man or Mer that could be out there. There must be someone out there... This was the only thing that kept him going, the thought of other life out there somewhere. The Imperial City must have survivors...
