The Evolution of the Home Videogame Console

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 1:39 pm

I didn't see a video. Just a bunch of links for commercials.

This thread = FAIL.

It works fine for me, and most other people in this thread. Maybe it's your browser?

I'm not the only one though. Go back to the first page. There were a few people who didn't see the video either.

Heh, quite a few I didn't recognise :) But at least I did recognise all the songs in the video :P
that is awesome! 1977 is the winner for most video game consoles made in one year.

Of course, it was the year I was born B)

Hence, the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_crash_of_1977#Video_game_crash_of_1977. While not as big as the one in 1983, it was still nasty.EDIT: I absolutely love the music.

wow. didn't know about that! Good read. even though it was off of wikipedia!

well, they were all ripoffs and clones that used the same PONG chip  Personally, i absolutely loved it! i retro game all the time and try to find most of these consoles on ebay (though the price isnt always right) so ive seen most of these but not all ( like 3).

I think I remember my dad telling me something about that. He brought the first pong ever made home, and then they started making way more and it got too ridiculous to keep up with.

Of course, it was the year I was born B)

ha. If you were playing video games right from birth I can see why you were chosen to be a moderator!

I still have a working model 1 Genesis (the one with the good sound chip), and a broken SNES (but I have no SNES games). And two PSXs.

You have two of one of the rarest consoles in the world? Good job.

I'm not saying it's rare, that's the point. I'm saying I collect junk that has sentimental value.

Haha that's not what I meant. I was saying it's amazing that you have two PSXs, even though it's a very rare console that was only ever released in Japan. Though of course you mean the PlayStation.

PSX is just the codename right? I don't think it was ever official.

Sounds better than PS1 though.

I love it, born and just old enough to remember 3D games over 2D games. Perfect timing, though I am fond of my Sega Genesis I had for a year or so prior to getting a Nintendo 64. That thing was pimp.

So, turns out it was just my browser. I haven't watched the entire video but so far I've owned:

Apple II
Atari 2600
Pong
Mattel Handhelds
Intellivision
Commodore Vic 1001
Commodore 64
Coleco Colecovision (in fact I still have it)
Commodore Amiga 1000
Ninetendo NES

And thats where I stopped watching cause I really need to go to work.

SNES 2? Sega Genesis 3? Whaaaa?

And how the hell would you play that handheld one with two D-Pads? Crazy Asians and always upping the bar.

The first Playstation was commonly refered to as the PSX before the slimmer PS1 model came around.
