The excessively stupid things of skyrim that don't make sens

i had a huge facepalm inducing moment earlier today while sprinting along north of High Hrothgar using werewolf form as a super-horse:

I like to imagine she stops, trolls, spiders, mudcrabs etc too and tries to get them to pay the toll. Incidentlly, she didn't back down... I threw her in the river and spared her, she was too funny to kill

Being unable to kill essential NPCs. I don't mind them being invulnerable to death by any other sources, but to make them unkillable by player means is very annoying.

Edit: And I'm not nitpicking. This really gets on my nerves.

Essential NPCs are FAR too numerous and what the heck is wrong with a warning system akin to Morrowind that says "if you kill this NPC, you will fail this quest" after they double over the first time. Then, if you kill them again, they die and the quests they are link to auto fail.

What the heck is wrong with that? Why would anyone complain?

And yes, unkillable NPCs are a major annoyance for me and take away my ability to rolelpay badly. This is not a "nitpick". This is a major problem with the game design.

Some of these things are silly nitpicks that only someone with some level of mental illness would take issue with.

LOL!

1. It's for fun

2. Any person who takes the time to pay attention to anything within the game will notice these things. It's not mental illness its being observant.

-That all the kids are Nords.

Pfft, all the kids are the same kid cloned -- boys and girls have the same face. All I can say is that somebody has been very, very busy (in a shot span of time) and the women of Skyrim have a lot of explaining to do.

All the same age, same face, same voices...*shiver* It bolts me out of the game every time a clonekid comes up to me.

I think what the OP was referring to when he mentioned that there is Assassin and Thief guild armor is the fact that they practically walk around boasting that they are a part of that faction, when it is supposed to be secretive. They are practically advertising to the guards that they are criminals and do nothing about it! (even though the guards know everything anyways lol)

Breezehome in Whiterun was way more useful and efficient for $5000 gold. Plus the smiths and shops are just outside making things quick and easy. Not so in Solitude.

Aye, I don't think I'll ever move if I can avoid it. Perfect. I had a facepalm when failed to notice the smelter behind the Warmaiden's crafting area and tried to find one out in the wilds. :P. Everything's so close, plus on fast-travel to Whiterun it's about five seconds' walk away.

I wonder if this was due to a couple of the pre-release reviews for Skyrim saying that, finally, here's an ES game with kids in it, and unfortunately they're ugly. One called them little trolls or something equally unflattering. Shortly thereafter, I read another review that indicated that the ugly kids problem seemed to have been resolved. Perhaps rush job to fix it by simply cloning the (approximate) same face sliders to all the kids in the game once there was one determined to be untrollish. :)

Armor type doesn't affect your ability to swim. Just jumped into water wearing full orcish armor, and I can swim...rather than sink to the bottom.

The perk system is a mess and doesn't make sense.

Sneak, Illusion, Conjuration are overpowered, while Lockpicking and Destruction are completely useless. To play an assassin you get everything in one perk tree (sneak), while playing a warrior means you have to spend a sh'itload of perks in 3 different trees (block, 1H, 2H), and mages have to spend the most perks to create a viable character.

Invincible, backwards flying dragons.

A broken quest or two.

The fact that a woman asked me if she could mix ingredients for a potion together, though I couldn't ask her.

Not every hold has a house available.

No hand to hand skill, despite hearing about a khajiit monk who has learned a style of hand to hand that I will never be able to learn.

List them.. and i am talking about story here

1: That you/someone else can't simply assasinate ulfric. He's not protected at all and he personaly talks to anyone who walks into his palace!! Would save a whole questline!
Because this would devolve a 300+ hours game to the cheap 20hr POS fiasco that is SRTT.

2: That thieves have thief armour and assassins have assassin armour
That's because a glaring difference exists between these 2 guild's functions and purpose---if you only bothered to take a closer look. The whole point of the TG is about ACQUISITION--they're the biggest money H.O.E.S in TES next to House of Haalu in Morrowind. So the more material goods the better. The TG master armor reflects this--it enables you carry a crap load more stuff. On the other hand, the DB doesn't give a f@ck about acquiring material things. Because their sole purpose is to part others from their worldly possessions. So the Nightblade master armor enhances the illusionary aspects of stealth and concealment.

3: Guards knowing you are part of the dark brotherhood and not arresting you.. in fact guards just know everything!!
Thankfully, the NPC AI isn't that dumb. Arresting a DB member is kinda equivalent to crossing a mafia don or messing with an OG gang banger  You do of course, realize there IS an alternate ending for that quest where you first meet Cierco at that farmhouse outside Whiterun? Ever wondered what happended to that innocent farmer's family if you fail to help the Village Fool?

5: The elite guards of the empire do not level scale and so are some of the weakest enemies in the game!
well at least those NPC AI was smart enough to make them put up a decent fight when you were busy kicking their teeth in....

6: That Nobody realy cares that you wear faction armour (thalmor robes in windhelm, forsworn armour in markath, i assume wearing stormcloak in solitude has little effect) (although im a bosmer- generic thalmor soldiers smile at me whilst named ones still look down their nose at me.. even if i wear elven clothes/armour)
too much effort to code such a minor thing. Although I agree they could've spent the extra 10 mins to make the guards arrest you on sight and put you in jail. But then that would only prompt more quibbling over an even more annoying game feature

7: one of the daedric princes appears to you as a dremora... ( servants of mehrunes dagon- another prince) ( the dremora doesnt even suit this prince)
Dremora and the Daedric princes are all Daedra--the former just happen to be a weaker and minor version of the latter. Dremora (like Clan fear, Golden Saints etc) are somewhat anologus to a witch's particular. Although I'm afraid Bethesda may have dropped the ball on this one. They could've been just a tad more creative and surprised us by making him appear as the tooth fairy in drag... :pinch:

8: that you dont learn all shouts from the greybeards/word walls at once. Plus dragons shout differently and greybeards shout differently! I mean.. if i was a greybeard id try to indoctrinate the dragonborn! They teach you shouts in seconds so why not give you a day of teachings and a good book to read!! DARN GAMEPLAY REASONS!!
Seriously, what's with this unhealthy, obsessive trend of dumbing down every game play feature and making the game so godamn easy?? I paid $60 for this game and so would expect some moderately challenging gameplay at minimum. Again, I seriously doubt if the TES fanbase would really want a long awaited EP to descend to the sewer pit of the zero replay value that SSRT is. :yucky:
I personally don't want my meat cut up into fine cubes AND chewed for me--just so that I can digest it more readily.
Because I waited 5 long years for this game. So I have absolutely no desire to be robbed by game features that drastically reduce the amount of my game play time. The increasing industry trend in DLC at the expense of content in released games is bad enough as is from the devs end

9: how often the loading screen lies- i have never seen a random werewolf.
Anyone want to add to this?
The only couple I've seen is from looking at my reflection in bodies of water at night. So you really need to get out more after sunset mate.

I understood 'im. perfectly. 'e made for good conversation.

No spellmaking.

The quest Blood on the Ice has left a strange amulet on my person. while its weightless, I can't get rid of it.

The elder scroll is 20 pounds, and essential for two quests.

You have to talk to the guards to do that. It shows up as a bribe-option.

Yeah, the fences in the thieves guild, right?

You messed up the Blood on the Ice quest, and, all quest items are weightless.
