The excessively stupid things of skyrim that don't make sens

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:46 pm

-Probably the coolest looking robes in the game are robes from people we all absolutely hate... freakin thalmor...
-The best house in the game other than not having an enchanting table is also the cheapest house in the game...
-Even when you are the master of the thieve's guild... everyone still treats you like crap...
-If you sell someone a crapload of stuff or buy a crapload of stuff from a merchant... 2 days later it will be like it never happened...
-The best weapon in the game is a bow
-The greybeards are better with shouts than you even though you are dragonborn...
-Everyone in the college of winterhold can make spells but you can't

Invincible, backwards flying dragons.

I suggest you quit whining and install the latest patch... or are you playing on a pirated copy? (In which case you have no right to moan anyway)

6: That Nobody realy cares that you wear faction armour (thalmor robes in windhelm, forsworn armour in markath, i assume wearing stormcloak in solitude has little effect) (although im a bosmer- generic thalmor soldiers smile at me whilst named ones still look down their nose at me.. even if i wear elven clothes/armour)

Amusingly, Vigilants of Stendarr will try and kill you for wearing necro robes. Even if you just saved their backsides from vampire slaughter and healed them off their near-deathed knees.

This thread looks fun. Please keep it going. I do very much love this game but.....

* Dungeons that have been sealed for hundreds of years and are occupied only by the undead have candles and torches burning everywhere. This really bugs me and it comes up a lot. Those places should be pitch dark! I wouldn't mind lighting the place up a bit by manually lighting stuff.

* The way houses are outfitted has changed 0% since Oblivion. You would think there would be some improvement. How hard would it have been to be given an option for each room and let you pick? Your choice between armory/library/alchemy lab.

* I have a house with 20 shelves and only 3 of them are "bookshelves". Why cant that script be on every shelf?

* Chests have no sorting. A dead body is more useful for storing stuff because it will sort things for you.

* Follower and wife equipment isn't fully unlocked. I hate seeing my wife wearing platemail in the house and even sleeping in it.

* You can't assign your horse to a stable so it doesn't follow you around when you fast travel.

The good news is all of these things are fixable. Once B.S. takes care of the bugs, they could probably make all of these changes in a few hours. I know the modders will anyway.

Um, patch 1.3 is only out on the pc at the moment so please get your info straight. But yea at least it's fixed for patch 1.3 when sony/microsoft finally release it sometime this week.

You messed up the Blood on the Ice quest, and, all quest items are weightless.

Not true.

Elder scroll weighs 20 lbs.

Disregard the stated weight of quest items. They don't add to encumbrance, as if they weighed zero (yes, I did test this.)

I think they wanted to try something new with the guards, sure its annoying at times but its like they function as some kind of news flash thing.

Being declared Arch-Mage, despite being a warrior with only four spells and no magic skill ranking higher than "novice".

Excessively stupid things in Skyrim?
Immortal NPCs and NPCs that don't get killed by a dragon breath (targeting you) even if they're standing in it...

My list of complaints!

1. My NPC follower's don't die when dragons breath fire/frost on them repeatedly, but they'll die at the hands of a well placed falmer strike.

2. My NPC follower's will enter sneak mode with me yet they svck at sneaking... (Is there a follower that is good at this??)

3. No missions to be a guard and escort caravans from city to city! This would be intense. Yet they talk about caravan routes. I digest.

4. Not enough variety of merchants in cities. Hidden shops and so forth would be fun and welcome.

These complaints aside, one thing I would like to mention that was done really well was the monetary system in this game, Bethesda did a wonderful job of balancing money and making it a sought after commodity that is actually useful, which is the one reason I stopped playing Oblivion.

Being told after the Civil War quests to clear out any opposing you camps you come across only to find out you can't because every one has an immortal NPC. Stupidest thing ever.

In fact immortal NPCs are simply the stupidest thing ever.

*snip*

agree with you 100%, also i love your avy SS (and gw) ftw.
one thing that i find dumb is when you get a bounty in a city, and sucessfully escape before getting caught, all of the guards say "wait, i know you". And if you approach them to talk, all you have to do is back out of the speech and they dont care.

What i'd like to know is how Delphine got that horn, bypassing all those traps and mobs and leaving through a sealed exit. Surely that's the biggest plot - hole in the entire game :P

2: That thieves have thief armour and assassins have assassin armour

Uniform more like. And that every single guard recognizes them. Yet does nothing.

What is probably not 'stupid about the game' but very annoying is that Followers block doorways and will NOT move. Especially if you go into a tent or similar and they stand in the doorway like dumbos.

List them.. and i am talking about story here

1: That you/someone else can't simply assasinate ulfric. He's not protected at all and he personaly talks to anyone who walks into his palace!! Would save a whole questline!

2: That thieves have thief armour and assassins have assassin armour

3: Guards knowing you are part of the dark brotherhood and not arresting you.. in fact guards just know everything!!

5: The elite guards of the empire do not level scale and so are some of the weakest enemies in the game!

7: one of the daedric princes appears to you as a dremora... ( servants of mehrunes dagon- another prince) ( the dremora doesnt even suit this prince)

8: that you dont learn all shouts from the greybeards/word walls at once. Plus dragons shout differently and greybeards shout differently! I mean.. if i was a greybeard id try to indoctrinate the dragonborn! They teach you shouts in seconds so why not give you a day of teachings and a good book to read!! DARN GAMEPLAY REASONS!!

9: how often the loading screen lies- i have never seen a random werewolf.
Anyone want to add to this?

What about 30 day respawn times. All it does is bloat save files, slow down the game, and break quests. I think that's pretty stupid.

Here's the best one yet, a Forsworn Briarheart sent hired thugs after me  Only things i've stolen from them is the briar heart, pickpocketing of which kills them instantly.

College of Winterhold quest enemy spoiler
Spoiler
Draugr ghosts. The draugr are already mummified undead, there is no sense in making them ghosts.

Agreed. I decided to do this of s and g only to find out I could kill all but the person in charge of the camp. IMO once the quest is complete any NPC(s) that were involved are no longer important and can be killed.

Back on topic....

*You murder someone in total secret and the friend/relative of that person now hates you even though they have no knowledge or proof you actually did it.

*Fletcher merchants sell high amounts of low level arrows when your high level but the high level arrows you need are either in small quantities or non-existent.

*Every little girl and boy in Skyrim looks exactly alike even though they all have different parents.

*Vampires can now walk in the sunlight and not become a pile of ash (could be a bug).

*Slaughterfish can attack you underwater but you cannot attack back.

*Noble hats in Skyrim look like Santa Clause Hats.

*You have the ability to chop wood and harvest ore but not the ability to make your own arrows.

*No matter if your an old looking hag or a hot woman, while you will not have the same face, you'll have the same body and no sagging ;P

*No forge or nice garden comes with the highest price house.

*You can slay a mammoth and get a single tusk off their corpse even though they have two, same goes with Saber cats, you get one eyeball even though they have two.

*Mammoths do not drop meat (trunk don't count) and fur but other animals do.

All I can think of off the top of my head right now.
