The Expedition to Saarthal OOC

Post » Sat Oct 02, 2010 7:03 pm

Hey guys! Thanks for the welcome.

So GM, can you do me a favor? Can you put the character names in the OP, next to the forum user name that owns them? Since I'm new, I constantly find myself going back up to find the bio on a character, only to realize that I have to scroll back down, figure out who posts that char, and then scroll back up. Not a huge deal until I forget where the post is! Ack!

Also guys, I don't know too terribly much about your current expedition, and neither does Elaine! I've read about some of your adventures from thread 2 but I haven't read all of them. Also, I haven't even looked at thread 1.

So, could anyone fill me in on some basics? Thanks!

I only joined at the end of thread 1. It was mostly just the characters getting to know one another, so go back and read it if you want to get a bit more familiar with the other characters.

Anyway, quick summary: our group of adventurers was one of several that went to the king seeking permission to enter the ruins. The king revealed that previous groups had not returned, and told our group to head to the camp in Saarthal's inner ward to meet a priest named Erikson. After the group entered saarthal we were attacked by possessed Nords, but we beat them and made it to the camp. Everyone at the camp was dead though except a few guards. They revealed that spirits and other undead had repeatedly attacked the camp, killing and possessing many. The priest Erikson had been brought to help, but he was taken by the dead into the tunnels. That is where the group is going now, to find him.

Yeah the story so far has basically just been that, the first thread was mainly getting to know eachother at a campground the night before making it to the city.

So what level would you say your characters are? By looking at sheets, I'm thinking somewhere in the 7-10 range?

EDIT: Actually, Sora's probably more around 11 or 12, considering she grew up learning blade, and running and jumping around the hills of Cheydinhal.

It won't effect anything in the RP. It's for a different project I'm working on.

I'd say about level 9 or 10 12-14 for Cordus.

A. Yeah, Dead Space 2 does that to a person...

B. Wow, "an 'entertaining' rest stop?" Bwahaha!

C. Welcome to the RP, Varus.

D. I can't really define Juhanor with a level... he has mastery over three skills (Unarmored, Sneak, and Hand-to-Hand), but I wouldn't consider him to be representative of how high that would be in-game, you know? Less than 20 but more than 15, I would say... maybe 17?

In game, Glaragoth would probably be about 15, because I like to think he has mastery over Alchemy, Marksman, Conjuration and Expert level Security. However, I don't think he would be a very good level 15, so about 10-11.

I'd say Trannigan is a master with blades, probably an 'expert' level with Destruction magick, and probably a little better than average with the rest of his skills. As for speechcraft, since it is the ability to sway others opinion of you with speech, I would say decide for yourselves how good he seems at that, based on how much your characters like him so far. He would possibly be a little higher than level 10 but not by many levels. I'd guess 13-15 lol

May I ask what project this is, Verlox?
Are you going to make us fight to the death?

A series of Pathfinder modules kinda based on these RPs.

It's kinda hard to put a level to the characters, considering there are no skill checks here, we just make it up as we go  Well I'd say Virani is probably an expert at alchemy and restoration, journeyman at the other magics, and an apprentice or so in destruction. Not sure what that would equate to in Oblivion... level 5-10 maybe?

Hmmmm.... I'm not sure I want Octavius being a part of your crazy ideas Verlox.

But if pressed, I'd say.... Well, looking at it from a purely game mechanics point of view, he is a "High Expert" (low 90's) in Destruction, "Low Expert" (75-ish) in Alteration and probably almost a Journeyman in Restorative magicks. His Marksmen isn't exactly marksmen because his crossbow is extremely accurate do to it being so small with little "kick" on release so I'd say 50-ish?

So I would guess level 15, give or take two or three :)

I don't really like the idea of a level for Elaine. There's so much more to it than that, including the equipment that you own, the skill levels themselves, and the governing attributes.

Elaine is an odd one. She can cast low level spells with extraordinary power when she has the energy, but can't really figure out the "high" spells in any given school. She svcks at conjuration (hates it) generally.
There's no way to really define that in terms of TES: IV skill levels, since they don't work like that.

Also, she would probably be an expert or master marksman, but what does that mean? In oblivion it means all sorts of things, like the damage from an arrow is higher. I don't think that literally makes any sense. Elaine is fast and she's a good shot when she's on the move, so that makes her a valuable archer. But the arrow is going to do the damage that an arrow does, no matter what. All she has to do is hit you with it, and hit you in the right spot.

So meh, I don't really care what level she is. It would have to be low, something like 5-7, but that doesn't mean she can't stand up to a serious fight (especially if she can stay out of harm's way).

I think this might be more useful:
Rating:

Offensive utility: 75%
Defensive utility: 40%
Emergency recovery ability: 15-75% (75 when a welkynd stone is handy and her dragon skin emerges)

Like I said, it won't effect this RP, or future rps, in the slightest. I'm just using the general feel of them for the modules.

What are you talking about? I was the last to post. Then Carrot posted.

EDIT: *checks thread* then Trannigan and then Broken Scale, then your post is there.
