The Expedition to Saarthal

Cordus listened quietly as he heard Trannigan's story, and it seemed like it was fairly similar to his own. We both left our homes fairly young, he thought. After they caught up to Juhanor, the Khajiit told them of a herd of deer near them, and asked if any of them had ideas about catching them. Cordus listened to Trannigan's idea on how to catch the deer. "That could work," he said. "But it wouldn't ..."

His words were cut off, however, by a huge Ice Troll emerging from the bushes. "Seriously?" he asked with a groan. "How did no one notice that thing?" The beast beat the ground with its fists, knocking Cordus's crossbow out of his hands, despit him being able to stay on his feet. The creature set its eyes on Juhanor, but was distracted by Trannigan, who sent a massive lightning bolt to the beast's chest. However, that only seemed to make it angry.

Cordus groaned. "This is gonna svck." He saw Trannigan charge the beast, distracting it. Cordus made its way behind the beast, then drew his longsword and one of his daggers, readying himself. He jumped up onto the back of the beast, digging his weapons into the animal's back. The animal howled in pain, but the wounds were only minor scratches to it. It thrashed around violently, trying to get rid of Cordus, but he held on tightly to his weapons. He started to climb his way up the creature's back but the Troll's hands were reaching for him, halting his progress at the creature's upper back. He yelled, "Distract this guy so I can reach his neck! And hurry, it stinks!"

As she left the camp, Sora snatched up her Fur Helmet from her pack to cover her hair, as it shone like a beacon against the moon-lit snow. They'd barely walked 10 metres from the camp when Hjolifur suddenly began to strip off his armor and dig into the snow. He stopped when small, greenish plants sprouted up from the dirt beneath, and he then proceeded to rub these plants on different parts of his body. Sora found this strange, and slightly disturbing, until Hjolifur explained why he was doing this.

"I know it might not look – or feel – very fun, but it covers your scent. And frankly, that is one of the most important parts of attracting prey." He invited Sora and Nathaniel to do the same. Ugh, how am I going to wash it off in these temperatures? Sora hesitated, trying to find a way out of rubbing herself in nature, I suppose he's had more experience than me though, and it will stop anything following us back to the camp. Sora sighed, and quickly threw off her cuirass and gauntlets, revealing her two thin, warm undershirts. Sora began to shiver violently, as she became exposed to the elements. She bent down, picked up a handful of the stuff, and brought it to her nose. It looked a lot like normal grass, but the aroma wasn't as intense.

Sora swiftly rubbed the plant over most of her body, and chucked a handful in each boot for good measure. The feeling of the grassy plant all over her body wasn't pleasant, but she figured it was better than being mauled by a bear while she slept. She then belted on her cuirass and gauntlets, which difficult, as the cold air had her quaking uncontrollably. Sora took a deep breath of the freezing air, sending cold splinters up her nose and a shiver down her spine. Despite the incapitating cold that went right to her bones, Sora felt more alive than she had in days. She jogged to catch up with Hjolifur, who had trudged ahead.

"So," Sora said to the Nord, "What do you recommend we do from here? What animals should we look out for?"

"This is gonna svck." Trannigan heard Cordus exclaim as he pulled his longsword and one of his daggers to attack the troll. He watched cordus run up behind it then Trannigan ran towards the troll to try to keep it disracted.

"Not if we are quick enough!" Trannigan remarked to cordus, grinning at the thrill of battle. He had been in Skyrim for about 2 months now, but had never seen an Ice Troll of this stature yet. He remarked how Cordus had to use his daggers to scale up the beasts back like a wall, and how the stabs were only serving to make the beast more engraded instead of weaken it. Trannigan kept swinging his blades at the trolls face to serve as a distraction until it became so angry that it started grasping for Cordus.

"Hold on up there Cordus!" Trannigan shouted to his partner, slicing into the trolls leg again to try to keep it from thrashing to hard.

"Distract this thing so I can reach its neck!" Cordus shouted back, keeping one dagger ready to deliver the killing blow.

"I'm on it!" Trannigan quickly said back. He summoned up a mixture of shock and flame magick into his right hand, and flung the spell into the creature's face. It fell onto its knees and covered it's face with it's deformed paws, roaring out in pain. At that moment Trannigan noticed that Juhanor had positioned himself so that he too could deliver a swift blow to the massive ice troll.

Trannigan gripped his longblade tightly and swung hard at the troll, connecting the blade into the beasts arm, hoping to lop it off as both Cordus and Juhanor's weapons were heading for their targets as well.

Marcus smiled. "My master will be most pleased that you will grant him the honour of your company this evening. I shall inform him immediately." Marcus disappeared into the tent leaving Octavius standing outside. He re-appeared a moment later. "My master is ready for you now" he said, holding the flap to the tent open.

Orlando stood in his evening attire, his walking cane in hand, a large smile across his face, hair greased back, eye brows plucked, goate trimmed. "My name is Orlando Wrex and I welcome you" He said, extending his hand. "Please, what may I call you? Do take a seat" He said sitting down himself. "Would you care for a drink? I have a vintage bottle of '63 simply dying to be consumed" He offered a glass and poured one for himself. Orlando clapped twice and Marcus entered carrying a platter of cheeses and bread. "Do help your self" Orlando motioned, "the main course will be arriving shortly but, perhaps contrary to convention, I prefer my cheeses before the main course, not after. I do hope you pardon my informality." He said, taking some bread and cheese off the platter which had been placed by Marcus on the table positioned in-between Orlando and Octavius.

"Do you know," said Orlando "What with me being so excited about someone accepting my offer, I've entirely forgotten to let you introduce yourself. Do excuse me for being so dreadfully impolite."

Octavius, Caravan Camp, Orlando's Tent

Octavius nodded slightly as he waited for a moment as the servant-man disappeared into the tent, only to re-appear to invite Octavius inside. 'Tavius smiled and walked into the tent that was opened by the man to see Orlando standing, waiting for him. The man was just too well-grromed to be an adventurer, but Octavius refused to let himself judge the man so soon. He would not be like the rest of the group. He smiled and took as seat as the man rambled a little to Octavius' bemeausemant, offering him wine and bread and cheese before he had even had a chance to place his pack and weapon at his feet.

"Octavius." he responded to the man's first question when he had finally finished speaking. "And some wine would be wonderful thanks." he said with a smile as he took some bread and cheese. He hesitated for a second, wondering if he should show proper ettiquette, but decided to forego the niceties on his part and instead, he just ripped the bread in half and place cheese on top of both chunks.

He took a hearty, but polite, swig of his wine to follow his first bite of bread and nodded as if agreeing with the taste. "Excellent." he said with a smile. "I can't imagine why they would all want to go out hunting in this weather when you've offered a fine meal." remarked Octavius, starting up some converstaion. "They seemed so insistant on rationing food but considering we will be starting in one of the largest cities in Skyrim, on behalf of the King no less, one would figure that food would be given to us, or at least me might get the chance to purchase some before going into the ruins."

Juhanor - Forest

Juhanor positioned himself to deliver a blow as Trannigan cast his magic at the Ice Troll, bringing the beast to its knees, following through with a powerful swing to its arm. Probably trying to take it off Juhanor thought as drew his enchanted bow, Vaba, and nocked an arrow. This will definitely help.

As the beast shuddered on the ground, Juhanor took careful aim as Trannigan's blow sliced open the troll's , and released the bow's deadly missile directly into bleeding orifice. Due to the bow's enchanted nature, the appendage was blasted off, and flew off into the darkness as it gushed blood.

"Cordus, kill it, now!" Juhanor shouted, readying his bow for another shot, just in case.

Cordus smiled as Trannigan took the Troll to its knees, and Juhanor took its arm off. He scampered up to the animal's head, then spun his longsword in a small circle and stabbed his sword into the top of it's head. He stabbed his dagger right next to it, then ripped downwards three times, until the blades came out, taking a large section of the animal's brains with it. The Troll gave one final howl of pain as Cordus nimbly leaped to the ground, then collasped in a huddled pile on the ground, dead. Cordus flourished his word and slid it back into its sheath, and collected his crossbow. He looked down at his clothes, and grimiced at the large amount of blood on the expensive cloth, but then looked up, flicking his hair out of his eyes. He grinned and said, "Hey, we make a good team, don't we?" Cordus laughed as he walked over to the Ice Troll's corpse.

He pushed the corpse onto its back, the looked over at Juhanor and Trannigan and said, "Do you guys think this thing is edible? Probably not, but you never know." He paused, then added, "Oh, and we should check inside this big boy's stomach. You'd be surprised what you can find in monster's stomachs. Gems, gold, even weapons. Or maybe just rotten meat. But it might be worth it."

Juhanor - Forest

"Damn, Cordus," Juhanor whistled as he inspected the Troll's head, "you owned that thing. Well, the deer are long gone; I dunno, I suppose we could try eating it.... but Juhanor thinks that something this poorly smelling isn't going to taste that good."

Juhanor returned his bow to the length of rope that acted as an impromptu holster on his back. "This thing looks pretty heavy... we could try to carry it back to camp and see if Hjolifur knows anything about its edibility status."

Unsheathing his knives, Juhanor looked at his brothers-in-arms, "Or we could see whats inside, if you don't mind stinking even more tonight..."

OOC: while I'm waiting for Hircine21 to join us in cutting up some deer or Mammoth with our short-range weapons, I just wanna point out that im not a very good RP'er and that there is another nord here... somewhere. So like i probably shouldn't be the end-all be-all about Ice-troll edibility.

Juhanor shouted to Cordus to finish the beast off, and cordus swiftly plunged his sword into the top of the troll's head. He stabbed his dagger right next to the sword wound, and proceeded to pull the blades until they both popped out of its skull, bringing its brain with it. Cordus then leaped away from the smelly dead troll and collected his crossbow, he sheathed his blades and after seeing the blood on his clothes, swiped his hair from his face and commented that they made a good team.

Indeed we do." Trannigan remarked, pleased at how easily they took the creature down. "If we continue to all work together so well then whatever tasks lie ahead might be pretty simple."

As the three walked closer to the dead troll Trannigan heard Corvus and Juhanor discussing if troll meat was edible or not. Trannigan laughed loud at that and made a reply that he was wondering the same thing, but he also guessed that by the smell they should probably just find something more suitable to eat. Then he heard them both agree that they should cut it's stomach open to see if anything of value was inside.

"Good idea, and we should skin it for its fur too, it will be very useful to have more fur out in this cold weather.... once we wash the smell out that is."

"We should skin it for its fur too, it will be very useful to have more fur out in this cold weather.... once we wash the smell out that is."

"That's smart, Trannigan. Well, let's see what's inside this stupid thing before it's stench starts attracting bigger stuff," Cordus said with a small grimice, already disguested by the thought of rifling through the Troll's innards. However, he thought, Man up, dude. Don't let these guys think you can't handle this kinda stuff. He drew his sword and rolled up his sleeves, then stabbed into the beast's stomach. He turned his face away from the beast as he slowly cut open the stomach and pulled away the skin and fur aound the opening. Almost immediatly, he was hit with a warm, absolutely rancid smell. He coughed and stepped away, saying, "Aw, man, that's just gross!"

However, he stepped back foward and used his cloak to cover his face and nose, and started to go through the Troll's stomach, trying to hold down the urge to puke. Amongst the bones and stomach juices, Cordus picked out a small jewelry box and a large sack of what felt like gold. Unable to find anything else, Cordus stepped away and allowed himself to breathe deeply again. He said, "One of you guys can skin that thing. I have to ... to go ... I'll be right back!" With that, Cordus ran to a bush and threw up, then wiped his now disguesting arm in the snow to clean it. He stood up straight afterwards, and just allowed himself to breath the cold, clear air, trying to get the memory of the Troll's stomach out of his mind.

That's smart Trannigan. Well, let's see whats inside this stupid thing before it's stench attracts bigger stuff." Trannigan watched as cordus got onto his knees and began carving the troll open. he cut all the skin away from the stomach, then slowly cut the stomach open. Immediately an overpowering aroma erupted from inside of the troll and shot into all three of their noses. Coughing, Cordus stepped back and gagged out, "Aww man! Thats just gross!"

Shielding his face with his arms, Trannigan barked out in disgust "By the nine! It's insides smell like a putrid mixture of dead dog and feces. You didnt accidently cut into it's bowels did ya Cordus?" he asked, not actually thinking that he might have. Trannigan took quite a few steps back himself so that he could breath again. Trannigan watched as Cordus retrieved a small trinket and a rather large sack of what looked to be gold from its stomach, then he relieved himself, shouting for either Trannigan or Juhanor to finish getting the fur off.

Trannigan inhaled deeply, then quickly got infront of the troll, trying not to breath in too much of the horrid stench again. He got out one of his own daggers and started carving away at the side of the beast that hadnt been cut into yet, carving as fast as he could safely do without tearing the fur up so that he could be away from the corpse."

Orlando Wrex, Caravan campsite, Wrex's tent

"Exactly my thoughts Octavius, exactly my thoughts. I am certain we will be able to purchase supplies in Winterhold." Orlando waved dismissively with his hand. "Oh, but these adventurer types are stuck in their ways I suppose." Orlando regarded the man in front of him as he topped up his wine. He was quite well spoken it seemed and Orlando would've placed his accent among the aristocracy of the Imperial City with whom Orlando himself was familiar. And yet he didn't look like he belonged to the aristocracy. He looked far too weather worn for that.

"So, tell me something about yourself Octavius." He said, smiling.

OOC: Foxy is alright if our characters know each other as their both Anvil nobles.

Nathaniel Leinheart - Forest

As they reached the woods Hjolifur removed his armor then began using his blade to dig past the snow until he reached the dirt below. The Nord then grabbed dirt and some little plants. He then proceeded to rub himself with the collected soil and shrubs.

Hjolifur then grabbed some more of the plants for his followers and motioned for them to do the same."I know it might not look – or feel – very fun, but it covers your scent. And frankly, that is one of the most important parts of attracting prey.", he said.

The Nord skulked off ahead leaving Sora and Nathaniel behind. The Dunmer followed suit then made her way off after Hjolifur.

"I hope he knows what he's doing", Nathaniel groaned to no one.

"Am I really going to do this.", Nathaniel mused to himself. Unfortunately already knowing the answer Nathaniel braced himself for the frigid weather his body was about to endure.

Nathaniel removed his cloak, shirt, greaves, girdle, pants, chainmail cuirass, and leather gloves. Leaving him with a thin woolen shirt, his pair of short wool pants, and his boots. Shivering visibly from the lack of warm clothing Nathaniel slowly sauntered to where Hjolifur had been standing. Getting on his knees Nathaniel grabbed a large handful of dirt which had several of the plants Hjolifur had shown them. With a heavy sigh Nathaniel began to rub the muck over his person even onto his long hair which he had painstakingly cared for.

Once Nathaniel finished he placed his hands onto his chest carefully weaving a fire spell to keep his body warm. The trick was to use enough heat to warm but not burn himself. With a single attempt Nathaniel was successful grateful that he had not burned himself but now had to deal with the fact that his body now had an orange aura around it. Uncomfortable leaving his garments in the snow Nathaniel used Telekinesis magic to hoist his clothes onto a high tree branch until he could return for them.

Feeling much better he hurried after Sora and Hjolifur. Catching up to Sora first he posed a question.

Making sure Hjolifur was out of earshot,"Do you really think this odd hunting method of his will work,Sora?"

Hjolifur led them well away from the caravan. "It is very important that the animals don't expect to find people" Hjolifur told the other adventurers, "Our sent will drive what we want to see away and attract what we don't want to see. This is why we masked it, and why we have gone far away from the fires and people of the caravan."

Upon reaching a clearing, hjolifur Started piling up what was around him in order to make it seem like he wasn't there. He instructed Sora and Nathaniel to work together to do the same. Hjolifur explained this further, "None of us have ranged weapons. Therefore we need to get really close. These blinds will, while barely hindering our sight, hide us from the animals that walk this trail. Personally I see Mammoth, Deer, Raccoon, and some obscured tracks going through this clearing, and if we are lucky something big enough to eat will saunter by here. If i don't signal you to creep up to it or charge it by doing so myself, only attack it if you can reach it."

Hjolifur liked taking control of the hunting party. It made him feel proud that he could pass on old Nordic traditions to foreigners. He crouched behind his blind, looking through a tiny whole he had purposefully left in it, and waited to spring into action, every muscle sprung up in preparation.

Before Hjolifur could respond, Sora heard Nathaniel trotting up behind her. He pulled her aside, and asked her what she thought of Hjolifur's style of hunting.

"Well, I guess he has more experience in Skyrim than both us put together," Sora explained quietly, "So we might as well trust him on this one." She assumed that the creatures out here were built for strength rather than speed, so Hjolifur's hunting style seemed to have a good chance of working.

Once the three of them had reached a clearing, Hjolifur began piling up things around him, and formed them in a sort of wall around him. He asked Sora and Nathaniel to do the same, before adding, "None of us have ranged weapons. Therefore we need to get really close. These blinds will, while barely hindering our sight, hide us from the animals that walk this trail. Personally I see Mammoth, Deer, Raccoon, and some obscured tracks going through this clearing, and if we are lucky something big enough to eat will saunter by here. If I don't signal you to creep up to it or charge it by doing so myself, only attack it if you can reach us."

Sora headed about 20 metres away from where Hjolifur had based himself, where the trees' branches knotted together to form a sort of dark canopy over their heads. She picked up fallen tree branches and rocks and combined them with snow to form a wall at about waist height. She signalled for Nathaniel to come and help.

"I figure," she said to the Imperial, "That if we make sure the front of this is covered entirely in snow, the animals will have a harder time seeing us against the snow. That is, we may simply blend in to the ground." With that, Sora began to push snow up onto the front of the wall, ensuring that nothing was visible but the bone-white snow. It was by no means as well done as Hjolifur's, but it seemed good enough.

Octavius, Caravan Camp, Orlando's Tent

Octavius nodded in agreement at the comment of these "adventurers" being stuck in their ways. He kept his thoughts on the matter silent as he didn't want to make enemies, but he considered rigid travelers like those he was with to be at a disadvantage and more then often, they wound up dead because of it.

He sipped his wine as Orlando asked about him, and as he swallowed the mouthful slowly, he collected his words. "Not much to tell really. I'm like pretty much everyone else here. I'm looking for 'fame and fortune' in these old ruins." he said, as he paused. "And I guess it's something to pass the time." he said with a laugh. "I have incredibly 'itchy feet', so I'm pretty transient." he explained, referring to his wandering nature that started more then a decade ago.

"So what about yourself? Here for the view, or is there something specific you're after?" he asked, taking another sip of wine.

Juhanor - Forest, Stinking Troll Corpse

Juhanor looked on as Cordus made his way into the bushes, and overheard him vomiting. He sure has balls, Juhanor thought, gaining a new respect for Cordus, who had just disemboweled the Troll by himself. Juhanor watched Trannigan start to skin the Troll. "I would help, Trannigan, but I am sorry to say that I am not that good at skinning. I am better at tracking and killing, you know?"

Juhanor excused himself from the bloody scene, and started searching about for the missile that had separated the beast's arm from its body. Peering into the undergrowth, Juhanor found the arrow, embedded in a tree trunk, with the arm still impaled upon it. "Damn," Juhanor exclaimed, "the shaft is practically splinters... I should see if one of our group knows any spells to fortify the rest of these." Not wanting to leave any traces of hisself, Juhanor gripped the shaft and pulled with all of his considerable Cathay might.

The arrow shuddered against the force, but eventually popped out, sending Juhanor stumbling backwards for a few feet. Juhanor quickly placed the broken chunk of the arrow back into his holster, and hoisted the arm onto his shoulder, as he made his way back to the beast's corpse.

"Yo, guys!" Juhanor shouted. "You want to head back to camp now?"

"So what about yourself? Here for the view, or is there something specific you're after?"

He gives nothing away Orlando thought to himself as Octavius finished speaking. He smiled at Octavius' delicately put question. "I suppose," Orlando paused as if concentrating hard. "I suppose, in a way I am here for the view, as you put it. To get a feeling for this life, to be out in the wild with nothing but your sword and your honour to see you through. It seems so ... innocent. So romantic. I mean," He waved his hand at the surrounding luxurys, the rugs, the wine, the food. "I know this isn't exactly 'roughing it' but I can't seem to tear myself away from it somehow." Very nice. Keep going. "I suppose, deep down, I know that I've read too much romantic literature about the adventure's noble life but part of me wants to fine that ... that, simplicity I suppose. Believe me the politics and intrigue of a noble court is far worse than anything we'll meet out here!"

Octavius, Caravan Camp, Orlando's Tent

Octavius listened with a smile as the man explained his longing to escape the trappings of the noble life and to get out into the wilds of Tamriel. Octavius could relate almost exactly to how the man felt. It was why he was out here in the first place, as the promise of bickering nobles and the constant threat of being stabbed in the back was not for Octavius.

Orlando was almost like 'Tavius but he could see the man still had a connection with the finer things in life that he had long ago learned to live without. He liked the man, as he was clearly kind hearted, but Octavius reminded himself that he belonged to the same class that he himself had once belonged to, and those were the people he despised most and his deep -seated hate stopped Octavius from probably ever fully trusting the man.

He finished his glass of wine and smiled while looking around at all of the comforts the man had dragged out to the frozen wastes of Skyrim.

"I can imagine they are! I've never been close enough to having enough wealth to mingle with the upper classes and I'm afraid I've fallen out on the politics of the land. Where do you live, if you don't mind me asking? It's possible I've worked in your service before as I've done quite a bit of grunt work for nobles in my day!" he said with another chuckle.

Orlando poured Octavius another glass of wine and topped up his own.

"Anvil is where I spend most of my time these days. I find the weather good for my health ... but I own manors throughout Tamriel including the Imperial City. Very important you see, to own a home in the Imperial City, for one's reputation ... Ah, I see our dinner has arrived." Marcus entered the tent carrying two large, steaming bowels of venison stew. He placed them down on the table.

"Is there anything I can get you my Lord?" Marcus asked. Orlando picked up the wine bottle and shook it experimentally.

"One more bottle please, Marcus. Then make sure you get yourself some food."

"Very good, my lord." Marcus bowed and left the tent. Orlando looked at Octavius.

"Please, eat. There seems little reason to remain so formal out here!"

Cordus paced back and forth in the edges of the bushes, his hands behind his head. He started to go back to help Trannigan skin the beast, but the mere sight of it was enough for him to remember to smell and feel of the Troll's innards, and send him running back to the bushes to throw up again. As he stood up for the second time, he heard Juhanor yell, "Yo, guys! You want to go back to camp now?" Cordus was unable to see if Trannigan was done skinning the beast yet, but he replied, "I totally am, dude. That troll, like, [censored] my mind, man. Just nasty..."

He broke off to scoop up the jewely chest (which he tried to open, but found locked) and the bag of gold. "I can open this box up back at camp. I've got a lockpicking set in my pack. But we can see what's in here before we lug it all the back to camp." He opened up the bag and whistled at the sight of several hundred, if not a thousand, gold pieces, and several gems of varying size and quality. "Good haul, man! Take a look at this!" He held open the back for Juhanor and Trannigan to see, then continued, "How are we gonna split this stuff up? Actually, nevermind, we can decide that back at camp. So let's head out."

"I would help, Trannigan, but I am sorry to say that I am not that good at skinning. I am better at tracking and killing, you know?"

"Yeah, it's fine." Trannigan grumbled, focusing on not cutting up the fur as he tried to seperate it from the body. Trannigan kept his eyes on what he was doing while Juhanor went off to look for his enchanted arrow that took the trolls arm off. He finished with the troll's right side after about 5 minutes then pushed it onto it's right side so that he could start cutting into its left. Trannigan noticed cordus walk up to help out, but stop in his tracks once the stink wafted into his nostrils again. "dont worry Cordus, I am almost done here." he said again. After another few minutes of skinning, he yanked at the large pelt so that it came completely free from the corpse, then he rolled it up and threw of over his shoulders. Trannigan bent down again to clean the blood and guts off of his blade, then used the snow to help get the blood off of his hands. Taking a few steps back, he took in a deep breath of fresh air, too relieved to be away from the stink to care about how much the frigid Skyrim air was stinging his lungs at the moment. He then returned his breathing to normal and heard Cordus call out.

"Good hall man! Take a look at this!" He called out excitedly, holding up the loot bag which looked as if it held atleast a thousand gold coins aswell as several different types of gemstones. "How are we gonna split this stuff up? Actually, nevermind, we can decide that back at camp. So let's head out."

"Right, I'm more than ready to head back aswell." Trannigan said back to them. "Cant wait to get back to the warm campfire again, and maybe the others will be back already by the time we get back."

Hjolifur and his hunting party waited for almost half of an hour. Hjolifur knew that it wasn't a preposterous amount of time, but he thought that Nathaniel was most likely getting bored. Further, the rest of the caravan was likely to be waiting for them.Every imperial i've ever fought with Hjolifur thought to himself, has been itching for action the moment they draw their sword.

Hjolifur sniffed the air and decided that if he didn't think an animal was coming in a few minutes, he'd Thu'um and make sure an animal was coming.

Hjolifur thought he smelt an ice troll, but it was very faint and probably too far away to matter. Finally, another sense broke broke through; a baby Caribou stuck in the snow. Hjolifur wasn't about to hunt it, but Nordic Caribou are famous for their herds.

A single deer could supply the hunters with a fair amount of food, two or three should be enough for everyone. However, the deer were still fairly far away.

"Psssst." Hjolifur tried to catch the attention of Sora and Nathaniel. "If a Buck comes through, don't kill it. Men are much less common then girls." Hjolifur then whispered into the air, "Bless us Kyne, and let the remander of these herds be unaffected."

Hjolifur took in a massive breath, and let out a very http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n1EJprDCsI&feature=related sound. It wasn't a thu'um, dragon shouts are unnecessary if you can already hear your prey, but just a simple call.

In no time, Hjolifur began to see brown bodies moving towards their position.

Juhanor - Forest Clearing/Troll Corpse

"Right, I'm more than ready to head back aswell." Trannigan said to Juhanor and Cordus. "Cant wait to get back to the warm campfire again, and maybe the others will be back already by the time we get back."

Juhanor hefted the troll's dismembered arm as he walked into the clearing. "Hold on a second, guys." Juhanor unsheathed his kukri knife, and drove the blade into the wrist of the troll's arm. As he chopped, Juhanor thought to himself that the structure of the hand, along with its claws, might make a good addition to his caestus.

Placing the now severed hand into his sack, Juhanor turned his attention to the others. "Alright, lets head back. I'll lead the way." Peering into the darkness, Juhanor faced the direction of the camp. "Camp's this way, guys. Lets go."

With that, Juhanor, Trannigan, and Cordus started to walk back through the bush.

Juhanor hefted the troll's arm up onto his shoulder then walked into the clearing. "Hold on a second, guys." He unsheathed his knife and Trannigan watched him sever off the troll's hand and place it into his sack. Trannigan used that time to search around for anything that help remove any of the troll's stink that might still be on himself. Finding some wild flowers growing out of the frozen grass, he picked a few of them and proceeded to rub them onto his shirt, trying to get it to smell better. he then picked one more and placed it into his own sack and went back to the group.

"Camp's this way guys, lets go."

Trannigan nodded and followed behind Juhanor, shivering a bit from the coldness as Cordus followed suit behind them.
