The falling of Vivec

"Even Vivec has been taken by the daedric hordes"

Is that referring to Vivec the city or Vivec the Dunmer/Chimer?

hard to know out of context. post the whole quote and tell us where you got it from.

i haven't heard anything about the city being decimated, so i would think that its talking about the god being kidnapped by daedra (which is a rumor to explain where he disappeared to)

It's from Oblivion, in game. Or it could have been "Even Vivec has fallen by the daedric hordes."

If it's the latter, then it means the city, I bet.

To me, the idea of Vivec the god being "kidnapped" by the Daedra is just plain totally ridiculous. I mean, just try to picture the scene. It makes no sense on any level, and if the said quote is where this idea sprung out from, I definitely think it was very much misinterpreted.

The wording, especially "hordes of daedra" instead of just "daedra" or even "Dagon", but also "taken" rather than "defeated" lead me to believe that the quote is very likely referring to Vivec the city rather than Vivec the god.

I heard that vivec was taken by hords of daedra. Soemthing about he went into ( i cant remember where ) with the neravarine and they were both never seen agian. Thats all i can remember. I have a hard time believing that all the ordinators died as strong as they are and if vivecc the city was reduced to rubble then vivec the god would also be dead which we know is not the case.

Neither, its a lie spurred by the Tharnato Duke Dios ho'Mhn of Nibenay with the intent to sow further confusion among the faithless.

What they said is that Vivec city has been overtaken by Daedra (probably not just Dagon, either; others had reasons for revenge against the arrogant man-god) and Vivec himself has disappeared. It's only presumed that he was taken prisoner and taken bodily to some plane of Oblivion.

Strongly doubt Vivec the god went that way. The city, perhaps.

Vivec achieved CHIM, so I don't even think the daedra hordes could stop him. And as others said, he could either kill them with his "spear" or, if the city of Vivec was completely overrun, obliterate it with the Ministry of Truth. Either way, Vivec is most definitely not dead. (Unless you killed him in your version of Morrowind, but that's debatably canon)

I thought CHIM was a Nirvana-like state of non-existence, so if he achieved that they would have no need to stop him.

Not non-existence. But he disappeared at Hogithum, so people are probably just not reading the papers, just like the forgotten unrest surrounding the doppelganger heirs.

People should probably stop equating CHIM with other concepts like Nirvana or Zen. I've seen numerous posts from people and MK himself differentiating the concepts. CHIM is CHIM; that itself shows it's something completely different.

Either way, Vivec definitely did not go down to the Daedra hordes. Define CHIM as you will but that is a claim I think most who understand CHIM will agree with.

...I hope.

Would daedra of Oblivion and their prince (who ever) be weaker than Dagoth Ur and his horde? Or has Vivec achieved CHIM after Dagoth Ur got defeated? I admit i don't know that for sure.

Hmm... I've been wondering how the old pact between Tribune and Daedra princes behaves after events in Oblivion and Morrowind. Could this event be part of that?

CHIM = I think, therefore I am

I personally can't accept the Trial of Vivec. Besides, my Nerevarine slaughtered Vivec, and then Azura was happy with him even more after butchering Almalexia.

What gossip could truly muse on what happened to Vehk? We're not peasants, and we don't know either.

And We all find out later that the tribunal were the true gods and that Azura was fake and had been using the Nevar in elborate scheme.

You have to admit, it could happen.

I need some tea.

Well, think of it in layman's terms. If you saw someone stick his ding-dong up a Daedra Prince's nose and vanish, not knowing what was going one, what would you call it? Then it gets twisted up and by the time the general populace knows he's gone, it's become 'Takne by daedra."

and that's if you hold with the trial (which I do in it's actions if not in it's conclusions, Vivec face-banged Azura and vanished, sure, but I still say he's 100% guilty on all counts). otherwise it's just mysterious.
