The Fallout 3 Modding Wishlist Thread

That part actually isn't so far fetched.. Are you familiar with http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5573?

I was not, actually aware of that mod. I'll have to take a look at it.

You're walking down the street in real life, running in Fallout. I've done the same thing. Freaky how much detail they got.

Yes, but it still takes you about 15 minutes to run from DC to Olney, and from the maps I've seen, that is terribly impossible unless you're the Flash.

I guess what I'm thinking of is a complete, to date-ish Washington DC with less rubble blockage, more exploration and real-world scale.

removel of auto aim so bullets fly out of a barrel the they should (which has been done, i know just a prelude to the rest of my comment), and have agility, small firearms, weight of gun, standing vs crouched, walking vs running, and the various other perks affect the swaying movement of the weapon which in turn affects the bullet trejectory because with no auto aim the bullet now goes were the barrel is facing.

To the person regarding a direct synchronization of time.

First, that's just SCARY.
Second, I suggest instead that you wish for a mod that allows time to persist while in menus/lockpicking (The latter already existing.) However, while in the menus and talking, it should be kept that enemies and actors do NOT move around, methinks. Or perhaps just in talking.

My wish? I want that old Lone Wanderer armor finished. That was the most badass gettup I ever saw, and then the guy had house troubles, and it never got finalized. I even had a gunslinger character all ready.

EDIT: Wish partially fulfilled! WoooOOO! http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12647

As amazing as that would be, It would be incredibly difficult to accomplish. If you don't know, all the rubble you can't jump over is there for a reason. Since DC is so big and dense, the performance might drop dramatically. Not only this, but nothing is behind those big piles of rubble. Nothing but dirt and those ugly fake buildings. So everything would have to be created, along with actual 3D buildings and spawns and what not.

While we're on the subject .. sort of. Are there any mods that change the color of a scopes crosshairs? I've been able to find a few mods for different crosshairs, but they are all black. This is a pain when sniping at night with almost no light present :D Would such a mod, if one is around, conflict with the weapons in anyway? Or are the scopes seperate from the weapons when it comes to modifiying them? Curious about that part because I use FWE and dont want weapons reverted back to vanilla. Or am I just better off learning how to use the GECK and changing the color to a more night friendly crosshair myself?

If I could wish for anything, I would wish for a world-space that is the size of Washington DC, in real life. If it takes you 20 minutes to walk down a street in Washington, it should take you that long in the game. I would want realistic sized towns, too (IE Old Olney should be the same size as the various divisions of Olney). And just to make my request completely unreasonable, make most/all buildings explorable.

But this already is the case, the game is even more stretched out than real life.

The in-game area covers about 2500 square km (1000 square miles) in real life, though most places are badly wrapped. At the default time scale (30; which means those 20 minutes go by in 40 real-time seconds), this means an in-game area of a bit over 2.5 square km (about 1.1 square mile), adjusted for the time scale, would correspond 1:1 to the real world. The in-game area is actually quite a bit larger than that.

Mods that extend beyond the invisible "borders" and put towns/places of interest there and editing the map/pipboy/worldspace so you can see those areas. I always edit that line in my config so I don't have those invisible borders. Do you know there is unused landscape past those borders that easily is 4 times the size of the existing bordered area? Some mods for oblivion actually do this so I am surprised no one has done it for Fallout 3 yet.

Hmm, was thinking about bible references in FO3. Granted, I'm indifferent, I think they way they did it was good. But what if someone was taken aback by it? I mean, yeah, someone could be offended by that, be if they'd grown up around a religion badly or were a part of a another religion, or whatever.

My wish? Something that replaces the bible-references, with something else. But it have to be clever the way it's done. It couldn't be obvious or half-assed. You'd have to worry about replacing dialog, etc. But that's why wishes are wishes.

Oh, and like I said, I'm agnostic, I'm cool with it either way. I'm just trying to consider the feeling of someone or a group of people who don't think like me or want the same things. Weird, isn't it?

How about THIS idea. I'm not certain about this being a *MOD* exactly, but how is this idea?

A program that starts with the player choosing in what ways he wishes the game changed..in a menu type system I am thinking. And moves through it with things they want added or removed from the vanilla game and it directs the person to the mods that cover this *WISH LIST* and presents them with their choices.

...This is outrageous I know, but think of how valuable it would be. And while I'm dreaming, how about it it even created a load order for it when you were done?

I might just be suggesting something thats a little too silly to actually be able to pull off, but I was just thinking of how great it would be. Have the lists updated by like minded modders and get something truly awesome at the end of it...

Ummm... The Bible, including Old and New Testaments is about 1600 years old in its current configuration. It's been a pervasive part of Western culture for all that time. Shakespeare, Churchill, Tom Waits and everybody in between quotes and misquotes it all the time. Everyday figures of speech originated from it, whether the speakers are aware of the fact or not.

Excising mention or use of the Bible in media is not the goal of any Christian group. Neither is it the goal of any other religious group.

If religious people were to be offended by anything religiously related in the game, my guess would be Cromwell's speeches, which do not come from the Bible but are a one-dimensoinal and poorly-done caricature. Beyond that, sixual situations and gory violence are the usual targets.

I suppose your intentions (avoiding giving offense) are fine, but you're way off-target in terms of identifying what FO3 game content is likely to give offense.

I don't wish to argue, but I will point out that the only religious references in a fallout game up until Fallout 3 were wisecracks against Scientology (in the form of hubologists.)

Generally speaking, someone who's played every Fallout game up until FO3, would expect gore, violence, dark humor. I don't think they would honestly expect the game have such a focus on particular religion, or seeing it taken so seriously.

Someone playing all of those games, maybe someone who had been damaged by religion, and then playing FO3 for the first time, could very well be offended. I'm not one of those people. I'm not saying you are either. But they are out there. I simply made a wish for them. Sorry.

Someone - the person behind Phalanx, even - has http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9385. Almost certainly unvoiced, and the Bible verse is replaced with 'the number your mum had when she was an exotic dancer', which has all sorts of problems. There may be another one; someone changed the karma benefit for donating to churches to a karma penalty and that person could easily have gone for the other religious references in the game.

Edit: I'm wrong, the person who made that mod did not make any other mods. There may still be another one but it doesn't show up on a search for 'bible'.

I'm aware of that mod, but it isn't as... delicate as I'd want my wish to be. Surprising, coming from Tarrant's biggest fan.

How about a considerably louder water noise for the project purity discharge pipes in Broken Steel? I believe its more or less a trickle noise for three gushing pipes big enough to walk through. That's always bugged me.

Oh also, in the same vein, tides, so the water level fell and rose periodically. If its possible it would enable some interesting level design options.

The other day I was blowing away raiders in the subways, using the bullet time mod, and it made me think: Someone should make a 'dodge' mod where you can dive to the side and fire your gun mid-air. Would make slowmotion so awesome.

- Weapon Mods Compatible w/ WMK I was thinking about this a while ago. Why don't I ever see people creating weapons with patches for WMK? That would be awesome to be able to download someone's weapon pack and be able to use WMK with it.

- Alpha Protocol Weapons From the commercials all I know about the game is that its about espionage and that the Rittergroupen Grizzly looks awesome and has a badass name. I would love to see someone recreate the UC Regulator and the Rittergroupen Grizzly for Fallout 3.

-Plague Doctor Masks C'mon, why WOULDN'T you want plague doctor masks in Fallout!? I've only seen one mod that hasn't been updated in quite a while, but the mask wasn't to my liking. I would love to see a mask with a much longer beak, seperate from the hat so that I could wear it with hoods/other hats/helmets. Something big like http://th04.deviantart.net/fs21/300W/i/2007/288/c/2/Plague_Doctor_Final_Portrait_by_zyanthia.jpg

For the Rittergroupen Grizzly Its a German G36C, I just made one albiet with bad textures

I'm not hoping for any fancy guns or hot companions.
I would be ecstatic though, if someone made a set of animations to allow actors to go prone and leopard crawl.

Yes, I would love for a playable prone position, as my character tends to be more into the ranged weapons in the outdoors.

Mod, that allowes the player to work for Enclave as a secret agent.
What can the player do:
-talk the father into working for Enclave too
-find Geck, give it to Autumn
-convince Autumn that Eden is right and stop the inside conflict in Enclave
-put FEV into water
-re-program Liberty Prime so he will turn hostile to the BoS (while going to the purifier)
-get even with BoS (may be done in different ways)> 1.bring poisoned food which will kill most of the soldiers, 2.kill them silently in a ninja-style, 3.bomb the Citadel.

How will the player join Enclave? In Megaton in Nathan's house you meet a person who will recruit you.

I am already making such a mod.

It's called Enclave Improvement Project and allows the Lone Wanderer to join the Enclave through a lore-friendly quest chain.
To join the Enclave you must:
1) Ask Eden why he won't have Colonel Autumn use the FEV. Eden tells you that you can succeed him if you will, and thus it triggers the quest "Joining the Enclave".
2) Use the FEV in Project Purity.
3) Move to your player house in Megaton or Tenpenny. A holotape from President Eden instructs you to eliminate pro-Autumn resistance at Adams Air Force Base.
4) When you cooperate with the BoS and kill the Enclave at AAFB, you get to join the Enclave.

After you've done that, you can do a set of quests. One involves reversing the FEV's effects if you're a good character, and another deals with establishing Enclave outposts around big Wasteland cities.

The mod is technically ready for release, but conquering the Citadel causes save corruptions.

Heheh that's a neat twist and re-use of the Broken Steel content!

I hope you get that worked out.
