I still don't quite understand how the falmer became the way they are, is it ever clearly stated? Whats your opinion on what happened?

I also don't understand why they would willingly become blind and become slaves.. how is that better then a war with the nords?

Lastly... why did the falmer murder the remnants of the snow elves? They are the same race so what was their intention?

So many questions, un-answered about them.. feel free to discuss anything about them in this topic

1. Poisoned to make them blind the the years of breading and living underground made them goblin-like.

2. Fear that their entire race would be wiped out by the Nords.

3. They don't know that do they. they have become blind goblins and they kill anything except for chaurus and a few slaves.

no, it is never clearly stated, what we hear from the last living snow elf is different than what we hear from the nords, which is different than what we hear in books. There is nothing really concrete.

There are certain quests in the game that tell you a lot more about the Falmer. This question should probably be asked in another section of the board that allows spoilers.

Its not CLEARLY stated. but from what I gather, they were being threatened with extinction by the nords and were forced to seek help from the dwarves. The dwarves tricked them. Forced them underground as slaves and poisoned them which took away they're sight. I don't know if its really clear what happened to the dwarves. maybe the snow elves found a way to return the favor? Either way now the snow elves have breed themselves into the current goblin like falmer we have today.

At least that's my mixed take on the scattered information within the game I can find.

ironically, the only living snow elf says that is not what happened, and they did it on purpose.......

yeah... its been a long time since I talked to him so I'm just going off the evidence found elsewhere.

Just some more lore that never really got flushed out properly IMO.

I just realized something.. if the snow elves were made blind a long time ago, how are the new generation of snow elves (Falmer) Blind?

Since they are born after the dwarves they wouldn't have had the dwarves force them to be blind.. thus they would have sight yet every falmer you see is blind,
