Sorry, was replying more to the linked article than the post.

2017 the gaming minority gets it's last straw dealt, and (fed up) they all say 'to hell with it', and over the next six years they start a gaming renaissance that ultimately pushes FPP games out of fashion as "quaint relics of the past"; By 2060 an archeologist (rummaging through the remains of an old (abandoned) industrial park, discovers an undamaged copy of Unreal Tournament 3 (protected in a fireproof safe). She examines it while her understudy marvels at the find, and asks "What is it Professor?", To which she responds, "I've no idea".

No, head into Akavir!

BTW I'm guessing Bethesda has at least 300 people now, right?

I secretly am harboring hopes that Skyrim's expansion is in Atmora. :ninja: ......no longer a secret though ;).

As for OP, it would be nice to see it, but oh well. Maybe there will be co-op play too then

Actually controlling games via Mental thought is very possible, we already have instances were we can control machines through mental effort.

Love to see a TES where a visor is placed over our Eyes and ears with a mic and there is no preset dialog for the player, you just talk and the game responds via super advanced version of cleverbot as relates to the game world.

Your mind is the controller and the game reacts to -you-

The Elders Scrolls - Dawns Beauty - all of Tamriel ftw.

WHERE IS I LOVE TES EMOTE? WHY DOES FALLOUT GET EMOTES AND TES DOESNT?

We have instances of controlling robotics with thoughts. Its been done with Chimps, (and will probably be done with aircraft weapon systems ~my assumption).
I hope this leads to thought controlled cybernetics for the disabled.

**There is also this to think about.

While I'm a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls I also love other big RPG series. I'm also a huge Final Fantasy fan and I respect Blizzard for WoW's success even though I don't play that game.

One thing to consider is that The Elder Scrolls games (thus far at least) do not radically change from game to game. This is also only the fifth in the series. To an outside observer it might not appear Final Fantasy has changed just due to the name having such a high number now, but the fact is Final Fantasy radically reinvents itself if not every few games sometimes every game.

Final Fantasy I - A basic story and hard menu-based game play.
Final Fantasy II - Completely scraps levels for a leveling system similar to TES, but very unbalanced (attack yourself to gain health, etc).
Final Fantasy III - Job system

Final Fantasy IV - For the first time a large emphasis is put on telling a story. ATB introduced and becomes very common in the series.
Final Fantasy V - More lighthearted story, again uses a Job system.
Final Fantasy VI - My favorite story in the series, again uses a different character advancement system.

Final Fantasy VII - Reduces party to three and adds many mini-games, again using a new character ability system.
Final Fantasy VIII - Once again uses another character ability system. Of note this game uses leveled enemies.
Final Fantasy IX - A throwback to the first six with many easter eggs. You absorb abilities from equipment.

Final Fantasy X - The first game to not use ATB since FFIV. The game's focus as a pilgrimage gives it a very different feel story wise.

Final Fantasy XI - An MMORPG... personally I try to not link that with them.
Final Fantasy XII - A far more open world than usual in the series. You customize your party with what amounts to limited programming, though you can still intervene. For the first time in the single player games, enemies are not triggered in random battles.
Final Fantasy XIII - A radical shift back to ATB with a completely unique battle system. Describing it would take too long here.
Final Fantasy XIV - A failed MMORPG.

That turned out to be way too long, but my point is Final Fantasy is not the same rehashed game over and over. Each game has different characters and worlds and stories. Most of the time you could give the games their own names and they'd still work. There are just some common elements in the series that make them stand out, but the games stand on their own. A FF game could fall flat on its face and the next could be a smashing success. They are that different sometimes.

If The Elder Scrolls lasts that long it will need to evolve more than it does now. It won't become like a radically different genre of course, but the games by necessity need to be far apart in release as they are now or they run the risk of being carbon copy clones that people will get bored of. Us devout fans would eat them up of course, but they need to apply to more than their core fanbase over time.

MMORPGs are different and it's one of the reasons I do not want an Elder Scrolls MMORPG. MMORPGs are mostly about interaction with other players. I play an MMORPG now that I've been playing for nearly eight years now. While I do enjoy the game sometimes it's more like a job... but one that I enjoy because I like playing with my friends. Timesinks and friends come way before fun to a long time MMORPG player much of the time. Perhaps WoW does it better than the one I play right now, but I have a feeling it's much the same for that one. I'll give the topic creator credit for only listing WoW 3 though. MMORPGs can survive a long time. There are several active MMORPGs that still receive new expansions that are going on 12+ years old now.

To get back to the original question, I don't think they could do that feasibly unless it was an MMORPG. They would have to either release the game in episodes which add to the continent each game or the game would be either smaller per province or mostly randomly generated.

In short: I don't think we're going to see all of Tamriel at once again unless it's randomly generated or an MMORPG.

I don't know about you guys, but an Elder Scrolls virtual reality game sounds amazing. I don't think I'd ever come back to reality.

Is TES really that important to people? It's just entertainment after all. In 2030 I certainly hope that my life will have evolved to a point where I have absolutely no interest in computer games at all. It might just be me and no offence to anyone, but there is a whole world out there to explore, for real.

Yeah, except that you can't fight dragons, pillage castles and villages, and slaughter innocents in real life, dude. Not to mention the more wholesome things TES has, like mixing a potion of invisibility, or joining and rising through the ranks of a guild of mages.

The year is 2030. Elder Scrolls is one of the longest running RPG and most successful RPG series ever made. Final Fantasy has died off due to Square-Enix declaring bankruptcy and World of Warcraft 3 was a huge failure.

Now.

Lets assume that a game set in every Tamrielic province individually has been made so far.

Do you think that Bethesda is ever going to make another game that takes place in ALL of Tamriel?

it would be cool to eventually have a MMO with skyrim graphics accross all tamriel. remember this IS 2030.

Not economicaly feasable. Doesn't matter how much money they have - they still won't do it.

It works like this: For their next game they have to choose between doing a massive, over the top, single player game with crazy amounts of content that isn't likely to be seen by everyone do to the size of the gameworld. Or a smaller, but still large and open-world, single province with just the right amount of content. Either way, we're all going to only pay $60 for the game, as game-world size doesn't determine the price. The first option, as a conservative guess, will take twice as long and cost twice as much to develop.

Which would you choose?
