The fate of Fast Travel in Skyrim

Never a day where a fast travel thread doesn't persist, well I made my opinion very clear on this interesting thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157147-roads/page__hl__roads

I believe that the Mag Article pretty much confirmed Fast Travel similar to Oblivion is in the game. Hopefully it's like Fallout 3 where all the cities aren't unlocked at the beginning.

A lot of people want a Morrowind type Fast Travel system but I just don't see it happening.

Uhg, I think some people's excitement is getting in the way of their english skills. Grammatically, it's totally illogical to assume the "better than Oblivion" comment was related at all to fast travel. Pete's just talking about the game - replying to the question of whether Skyrim will be better than Oblivion.

If Pete was talking on the subject of FT, it would effectively read: "We're not talking about fast travel yet. Still working on some things. Fast travel will be better than in Oblivion. Best fast travel BGS has ever made."

That's not what he says. He's clearly covering two subjects: "We're not talking about fast travel yet. Still working on some things. Yes, [Skyrim will be] better than Oblivion. Best game BGS has ever made."

The jump from "Fast travel will be better than in Oblivion" to "Best game BGS has ever made", as some people are reading into it, is too much of a thought leap without the subject-transition sentence in-between. It's not the type of statement that anyone comfortable with english would actually make in regular speech.

In any case, GI already confirmed that OB-style fast travel is in. It's confirmed. Whether there will be additional alternatives is still up for debate, but OB-style fast travel will not be axed or handicapped.

Well my copy of Oblivion wasn't for pc so I didn't know that all it requirred was a "Can travel to"...

Well I got to say, it may not be the wisest thing to talk about what you do not know. Besides even doing it the other way only takes about 5 lines of scripting, even less if you attach it to a dialog option.
