Well, I remember doing the Oblivion Clavius Vile Shrine Quest.You talk to the freaky Daedra then walk off to the ruins to kill the user of the Umbra, you take the umbra, and walk back to Clavius Vile.Now what to do what to do?Return Umbra and get the Masque of Clavius Vile or keep this awesomely powerful sword with the soul of a great warrior trapped in side.

Hero:"Here take this sword!"

Clavius Vile:"You have made the right choice young one and you shall be gifted with my masque."

Hero:"KTHXBAI"

Clavius Vile:"Me and Umbra have some....Business to attend to."

Hero:"Don't let me stop you."

*Puts on masque*

Hero:"I got jipped. -.-"

He lost the Sword, Umbra will probably pop up again in Skyrim. As to who or what shape Umbra will be well that's still up in the air.

However, it could be argued that there is a chance Umbra somehow killed/absorbed Clavius Vile based off of the Dog's warnings about it doing horrible things to his realm or something similar.

This is based on the games, seeing as the books are more of a secondary thing.

You learn the general gist of what happened to Umbra after Oblivion in IC, and something tells me ("something" being that it's a major plot point) that we'll learn more when the book comes out in September.

The games are affected by the books, being they're full canon. So if Umbra was destroyed and all its power gone only to have it appear as normal in Skyrim, that'd just be odd.

A Dragon ate it, yes it will be in Skyrim, and I'm sure you can guess how you'll find it if it was indeed eaten. What's more intriguing is how it got there in the first place... :blush2:

i kept umbra... my character wasnt stupid enough to give a daedric prince a powerful weapon like that.

clavicus vile's masque isnt that great of an artifact, either...

i hope they dont get rid of umbra, though... umbra was always a fun enemy to find and fight.

Too bad the book is official canon, and thus, it happens. The only thing not mentioned is how Umbra got back to CV, but artifacts like Umbra do tend to suddenly disappear without a reason. As such, either the CoC gave it to CV, or Umbra simply left the CoC/anyone who had it at the time.

As for whether it'll be in Skyrim, I really hope not. It's just an artifact, like all other artifacts, only black with a soul trap. Then again, it entirely depends on what happens to Umbra at the end of the second TES book.

One of the choices should have been an equivalent to umbra.

Yeah it'll most likely be in Skyrim, not sure why everyone likes that sword so much. I always like Chrysamere and the Iceblade of the Monarch.

While I almost never used it I always kept it, but I agree that Umbra should return. Hope it is more difficult this time around since in both MW and OB Umbra was rather easy when you reached the later levels.

Umbra was always my favorite and most treasured weapon ever since it was introduced. I would be greatly disappointed if we didn't get Umbra once again.
