The February Game Informer Cover Thread III

THIS THREAD IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE POLL! READ THE FIRST POST BEFORE POSTING!

The Skyrim cover will be revealed on January 6th 2011

There will be a cover story in a UK mag as well as in a number of other countries. Fear not.

Just finished reading the upcoming Game Informer cover story on Skyrim. Lots of info, big screens...I think you'll really like it.

Digging into the 14-page Game Informer piece on Skyrim. People will be very happy with this. So many screens.

When responding to a question asking how the game looks:
Gorgeous.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1151387-the-february-game-informer-cover-thread/

As most of us know the February issue of the Game Informer magazine will feature 14 whole pages of Skyrim information/pictures/awesomeness.
The prestigious cover of the mag will also belong to Skyrim!

This thread is for thoughtful discussion and speculation of the topic and what we think will be revealed. Once the cover has been revealed we can keep all discussions to this series of threads so the mods don't have to spend all their time redirecting people's rants about how the cover is "zomg cool". Once the Mag is shipped to subscribers we can post small bits of information to share with other forum members who don't subscribe to GI.

For information on the rules of posting info on the magazine click on this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1149624-do-not-post-magazine-scans-transcripts-or-links-to-either/.

Fortunately Todd Howard has already stated that "when we show it, we want to show a lot, because there's a lot of game there to play right now." http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-16-todd-howard-working-on-two-new-games

Here is the link to the Game Informer article on the matter: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/12/13/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-coming-next-issue.aspx

Here is the link to the Bethesda Podcast in which Todd Howard touches on the subject: http://www.bethblog.com/podcast/
(They start talking about GI around the 6:50 mark in the podcast if anyone just wants to skip to it.) - Wahoo

"They saw a lot [Game Informer visited the office of Bethesda last week] and I think, I hope, everybody is surprised with how much stuff were showing. It's... it's a lot. We wanted to sorta compress the amount of time that we talked about the game. It's still eleven months, it's a long time, but traditionally we're going on like two years talking about a game, so we start out very slow and we wanted to come out of the gate with a lot of... A lot of STUFF. So I think the fans will be excited."
- Todd Howard

"And wait until you see what this game is all about! Mind...blown..."
- Andrew Reiner

"Our Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coverage has expanded from 12 pages to 14, making it our largest game-based cover story."
- Andrew Reiner http://twitter.com/#!/Andrew_Reiner

I noticed some people in the last thread were confused about when stores would have Game Informer on the shelves. My local stores told me it's usually 2 or so weeks into the month, but sometimes it's longer. The best thing for everyone to do would be to call the Gamestop or other store they plan on getting the game from and ask them when they usually put issues on the shelves. Alternatively you could just call the store every single day after the 6th and ask them if they've put it on the shelf yet.

Todd said in the podcast that he hopes people are happy and surprised how much info they are revealing in the article. In his words, "It's a lot."

Personally, it's going to look AMAZING. Pete was BRAGGING on his twitter account about how the dstr were stunned at how good it looks. These guys see games every day, so for them to say stunned means it's going to be amazing. This is Bethesda as well, they won't show something unless it will make our Jaw drop and dance around like school girls.

The Engine as I want to know what it can do and how impressive the enviroment looks. Also maybe some insight on how it was designed.

I can't wait to see the cover art! I am so going to buy the magazine when it comes out here in Montreal...even if the screens are all posted on the net, I still want to relax late at night and read the article!

I'm hoping for 14 pages of lyrics to the theme song, in really big letters.

Thanks, Mankar. btw, I voted for character model screenshots. I'm really curious to see how BGS has responded after all the crap (justifiably) the Oblivion characters got.

I think a comparison between skyrim's and oblivion's game engines highlighting the improvements would be the most informative at this point.

I don't want most informative. Time for that later. I want prettiest.

Character model screens please!

I'm sure all of that stuff will be in though. Maybe not information on the CS or trailer lyrics.

Character model screenshots all the way.
Most GI covers have been pretty impressive so I'm really curious to see how this one will top them (not that it was said it would, but...).

Gameplay information. Story information means spoilers, don't want those. Screenshots aren't really important; I'd only be interested in the general style of design, such as the way weapons and clothing are designed.

But what really matters is how they changed gameplay, if they got a step closer or further away from making a real RPG, the general controls and how consolified they are etc.

@Silvade14 Yes, we consider the Elder Scrolls novels canon to TES lore.

In case there was any confusion.

Thanks Mankar for the new thread, I bookmarked it like I did with the last one :)

Anyway, I kinda don't care for the magazine anymore, the search to find out where else to buy it other than GameStop is beyond me now, so I will just stick with official sources and go to GI and its hub, and the ES Facebook page for info and screenies will pop up sooner or later after GI's official issue release XD I hope the cover will be as epic as GI's Tomb Raider cover!

Your welcome, but you really should forgive Gamestop for whatever they have done to you just this once so you can buy the Holy Grail of these forums (GI Feb Mag)

Is the online information usually the same for customers? Do they post the article ONLINE once the magazine is released? (FOR SUBSCRIBERS OF COURSE - Just signed in online and made sure my mag number is set)

Nick then said it was gorgeous.

All up, I'm pretty excited about this. I think we'll all be surprised and pleased.
