The February Game Informer Cover Thread

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:13 am

Andrew Reiner just responded to someone asking him if Game Informer was available in the UK. He said "We have subscribers in the UK...so...yes!"

http://www.twitter.com/andrew_reiner

I thought GI wasn't available in the UK?

Well where do you get this magazine? From a store or can it be ordered?

You can subscribe like a regular magazine, or you can just pick up a single issue in a retail store. I think it's kind of like Game Stop's official magazine so Game Stop is the most likely place to have it.

Probably a stupid question, but is there a website that ships to Europe where I could order this issue?

I would assume you could order it from the Game Informer web site and have it sent to you. I cant' be sure. What I do know is that they have digital copies, as I was told this when I asked about the February issue. Maybe you could get just the digital copy from the website? Wouldn't hurt to e-mail Game Informer themselves and ask them.

I already did e-mail them about ordering a single issue back when I wanted to get the DA2 cover story and they half-ignored me, telling me I should subscribe. Oh well.

If you're in AUS/NZ you can go into an EB Games to purchase a subscription to the Aus version. Great deal at $40 AU/NZ for 12 issues.

Besides the feedback and some articles on Australian stuff or opinions written about the game industry, they have the previews and reviews of the same games the US one does I think. Issues #13 had stuff covering the past Elder Scrolls games just like the January US edition, so the next one should have the Skyrim preview. Also their covers rock, can't wait to see what they do for Skyrim.

That's cool that Todd Howard and the interview guys were talking about the TESV speculation thread. They were like "what was it on? #88 or something?" And Todd was saying that it's a lot and he's read a lot of it and stuff. Neato burrito. And I've posted in those threads, too! yippe skippie, as Miss Piggy would say on Muppet Babies.

Andrew Reiner posted on his twitter that there are subscribers in the UK so there must be some way to get it there. I suggest tweeting him about it if you have a twitter or emailing Game Informer customer service about how to get it. Edit: If you don't know, Andrew Reiner is the executive editor of Game Informer. If you want to email him specifically his email is reiner@gameinformer.com. He seems pretty nice and interactive with fans so he shouldn't mind.

Are people supposed to get this early January then?

Yes.

How annoyed would everyone be if the cover was just the dragon logo, or something from the trailer?

You're welcome! :disguise:

Not I. I'm more stoked about the fourteen pages of information. The cover is just an added incentive.

For reasons I don't completely understand, most (if not all) magazine companies, Game Informer being one of them, release their issues labeled with the month after they are released. So the Skyrim issue is going to have a February date on it, but will release January 6th. Something about so when the magazines arrive in stores around the middle of the month, they can sit on the shelf til the middle of the next month with the name of the next month on it. So when the Skyrim (February) issue arrives around January 13th, they can leave it on the shelf until February 13th and people will buy it because they don't see it as "last month's magazine." The January issue was Tomb Raider.

Is your money like not worth anything because $40 seems like a lot for 12 issues... Hell we get 12 for what is it $15 or around there and that fee is for signing up for the gamestop card, the magazines are a added bonus.

Props on the Queen lyrics.

Yeah, I imagine I'll get the magazine; I hardly have time for the forums like I used to, so it'll be my main source of info till further on. Honestly, I hope they don't wait till E3 to give us the meat; I'm hungry for it now! And I'm extremely happy with Todd's assessment this go round on only waiting eleven months between announcement and release!

Yeah we get an EB games Edge + card at the same time as well(Their owned by Gamestop I think). That $40 makes $3.33 per issue, I guess it just seems like saving from the sehlf price -$4.95 AU or $7.20 NZ. It is dearer the a womans mag suscription per issue, but it has a smaller market. But as the advertisemant says, each issue is less then a cup of coffee here.

Just because the Aussie dollar is pretty much matching the US right now doesn't make the price go down.. some goods are more expensive down here. You should count yourself lucky!

I know, it's ridiculous. When I was getting my PS3, the Aussie dollar was I think about 90 US cents yet the PS3 in the US was $300 and had twice as much HD space as ours which was $600. Why don't we get a fair deal? Everything's more expensive over here.

Also, just to be clear, is the Australian Game Informer the same as the US one? I don't want to buy it only to find out it's a different issue.
