The February Game Informer Cover Thread II

Post » Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:49 am

I want a lot of info on the "new" engine. That's all that really matters to me right now.

I just subscribed to Game Informer for the sole purpose of this article. I can't wait!

I hope you get it, there is a chance that it will never arrive. If it does come it will be later in the month I assure you. If I were you I would buy it at a store then get the shipped copy and frame it :)

Read the OP and I'm still sort of confused about this, I'm assuming this means that we only get to see the cover on GI's website and that the February issue is being shipped at a later date, correct?

I am not quite sure but that is what I heard. I also heard that VeryEvilDudeOfDarkness got his early last month so I am NOT sure.

I've got a subscription and have had it for some time, no Skyrim cover yet.

Latest issue has a Lara Croft cover

Mostly info, but GI is a pretty magazine, so I imagine we'll be getting 1-2 pics per page, assuming Beth gave em that many. 14 or so page spread, lets not forget.

Does anyone know what they normally mean by how many pages there are? Does that mean 14 pages as in 7 pieces of paper double sided or 14 pieces of paper double sided?

Yes, he was able to get his a single day after the cover was revealed, and somebody else who's name I can't remember was able to get it even earlier that same day. You can rest assured that you wont have to wait long for information to start being posted after the cover is revealed. The 6th will be a day of salivating over and dissecting the cover, and the 7th will more likely than not be when information will be posted. The 7th will also be when I stop going to this section of the forum until my own magazine arrives and I can read the article for myself.

Dunno if anyone caught the latest GameInformer podcast, but I think one of the staff talks about Skyrim briefly.
They were talking about how games for the current consoles are getting better graphically. One of them says how Skyrim(?) makes Oblivion look like a late PS2 game. :teehee:
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2010/12/30/special-edition-podcast-the-year-in-review.aspx It's about 36 minutes in.
He words it weird but I bet he means Skyrim.

He doesn't say Skyrim specifically, but says it's a new sequel to a game that came out around the 360's launch. It's really obviously Skyrim.

Would you mind typing up exactly what he said, word for word? Some of us are lazy. :whistling:

"I recently went on a trip to see a game in a new series (probably meant a new game in a series).
And I looked at the last entry in the series that came out towards the beginning of the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 cycle, and it makes that look like a late Playstation 2 game in some ways."

We know GameInformer were at Bethesda's office a few weeks ago, Oblivion was in the 360's launch window, and Todd Howard also said it looks like a next gen game.

Not a big thing, but it was interesting to hear.

Thanks a lot. I hope all this praising of Skyrim's graphics isn't setting us up for disappointment.

He could be talking about any game. If he was referencing Skyrim, why wouldn't he call it out by name? It's already been announced when that was recorded.

Holidays, early recording? Didn't announce they were doing the cover story yet? Dunno, but it fits the bill.

It does fit, but Skyrim was announced well before most people went on holiday. I guess they could have recorded it extra early though.

Sounds good to me. I remember hearing someone say that ESV looks like a next-gen game.

I'm actually pretty mad at Bethesda right now. I can wait an entire 11 months because it goes on the back burner in my mind. SEVEN DAYS!?!?!?! Will driving me insane until I read it cover to cover.
