The February Game Informer Cover Thread II

Post » Fri Apr 09, 2010 6:15 pm

I'd be happy with one page-size screenshot, and 2 or 3 quite small ones. After that, I really just want to mostly know what's going on under the hood!

The article is 14 pages long. I seriously doubt they will show only one or two screen shots.

will they be selling gi covers at gamestop january 6th?

Most likely they will not but I see no reason for them not to. They will probably have them at the store early. Before they even reveal the cover. People say this is not how GI does things but it is how every other magazine does things.

Read the opening post, but there is really nothing new other than it having 14 pages instead of 12.

They will be selling the covers for a drastically reduced price, less than a dollar, and your exact price depends on how good a job the Gamestop employee did ripping off the cover for you. Jagged edges= cheaper!

In all seriousness though, even if Gamestop does have them on that date, they will not stock them on the shelves until about a week after the cover reveal, if not more. Call your local Gamestop to find out, because each Gamestop varies.

i might go pick up a copy of that magazine whenever its on the shelves... i like game informer, but the only place i know where i can subscribe to it is at gamestop, and i hate gamestop... last time i subscribed there, i got ONE magazine, which i think is the one they gave me, and i never saw another magazine for the rest of that year...

pissed me off big time, i stopped going there, they lost me as a customer because they screwed up.

anyway, im personally hoping they'll talk about the new engine mostly, i wanna know what its going to be capable of, and i'd also like to know if they'll be going back to the freedom morrowind gave us...

i dont want to see anymore doors that can only be unlocked with keys, i dont wanna see armor/clothes canceling each other out, i wanna pile it on and dress however i want in the game!

if i only want to wear ONE pauldron, and ONE gauntlet, along with a robe and clothes underneath, then i wanna be able to... that was one of my biggest disappointments in oblivion, it was so depressing that i never bothered taking the time to customize my characters, i kept my main character in his prisoner clothes, and didnt do much with my others, either.

some screenshots would be nice, a bit of the land, maybe some shots of a town and its inhabitants... maybe a glimpse at the character creation, even... or atleast have it talked about in the article.

I would prefer to see more information, but judging from previous spreads they normally have most of the page as a screenshot with about 1/3 or 1/2 for information then they will have a page with a few cropped screenshots with smaller captions relating to each. So, it should be split around 40/60. 40 being information and 60 being screenshot/concept art.

I am seeing a lot of the ususal "Will they release the GI mag on Jan 6th?" but my bigger question is that:

Since where I live, finding a GI magazine is the freaking Holy Grail, and I know that GI's website will have info (especially a hub) but will they have the same exact info, or even screenies on that page so I dont have to look for these magazine scans? Like what I mean is that if they plan to have 14 pages of info, will those 14 pages-worth of info (and screenies?) be on the website as well? :whistling:

Doubt it. If they want you to buy their magazine, why would they put all the info and screenshots on their website?

Also, you live in northern Cali, there isn't a Gamestop nearby?

LOL, most of us knew the title of the game years prior to announcement. Pete Hines let slip a year ago they were working on an Elder Scrolls game. Online book retailers gave away the time setting. Nope, not a very well kept secret.

Actually, he said "of course we are going to do another elder scrolls game" he never specifically said that they were WORKING on one. Also, we were pretty sure of the title, it would have been a surprise if it was NOT Skyrim but there were possibility's that beth bas just protecting their name from Skyrim Wifi.

So, yup, a pretty well kept secret. :)

I hope everyone realizes that on the 6th we are getting the gi cover (which should be a mighty sweet piece of art) but those juicey 14 pages of skyrim goodness we will NOT be getting on the 6th. We will get that hopefully shortly after the 6th.

No, actually I was referring to this excerpt from a Gamasutra interview with Pete Hines:
"Any chance, and this could be out there, that somewhere down the line we could see a jointly-created game, or is it safe to assume products will be separate?

PH: I don't think so. They're building up their teams, and they already have four amazing brands they're working on. So they already have enough titles to work on that they own. On the flip side, Todd [Howard] and his team have their hands full with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout."

Which took place after Oblivion. And, if my memory serves me correctly, the Zenimax Skyrim marks were filed in 2006, long before the Skyrim Wifi or whatever marks were filed. Considering how many people figured everything out before the announcement, you cannot possibly think the secret was well kept.
