The February Game Informer Cover Thread II

Post » Fri Apr 09, 2010 1:39 pm

what is the ETA of the magazine??

around Jan 6? 13?

also, do you think we'll get some kind of trailer or developer diaries after the mag comes out? like in the same week??

Well, the 6th is just when the cover is revealed, so I'm sure the magazine will arrive some time later.

I don't know about dev diaries, but GI will have an entire month of Skyrim coverage on their website.

I was wondering this as well, so I reached out to good ol' Andrew Reiner for clarification, which he provided:

Me: "@Andrew_Reiner Do you guys have a date set for the Skyrim cover reveal and, if so, can you share it so we can set our countdown clocks? :P" [http://twitter.com/#!/michaelbuffaloe/status/19568364514971648]
Andrew Reiner: "@michaelbuffaloe Jan 6" [http://twitter.com/#!/Andrew_Reiner/status/19601859438182400]

So, just to make it blatantly obvious:

The official cover reveal date for the Skyrim issue of GameInformer is January 6th. http://twitter.com/#!/Andrew_Reiner/status/19601859438182400!

And, yeah, I'm fairly sure the 6th is their standard reveal date for every cover they do, but it's nice to know for certain. ;)

Thanks! I really can't wait ... as long as the cover is different from the "black background, silver Skyrim letters" from the trailer ... I'm all good! damn I would kill to see just a screenshot!

I believe so, but having it confirmed in writing somehow makes it more verifiable to me, so I figured I'd reach out and share the results.

So it's actually a January game informer cover?

Also, I voted for equal amounts of screenshots and information.

I can't wait to see what's included. I think in 14 pages we can get a pretty healthy dose of screenshots AND information.

Yes. Alternatively, a PCFormat review would be cool. It's one of the more wide-spread computer entertainment mags in the EU, although I'm not sure you can get a copy at news agents in every member state.

I would like information the most. Although there needs to be a good number of screenshots, as well (at least one per two pages).

Are we gonna get info on Jan 6th, or only a cover reveal?

Personally, it's going to look AMAZING. Pete was BRAGGING on his twitter account about how the dstr were stunned at how good it looks.

Perhaps I should already know this, what exactly is the dstr?

I don't know if anyone else saw this, or if they put it in another thread, but I thought this fit well with the topic. It was in a little piece about which games they're looking forward to in 2011. I think they may still just be hyping their magazine, but it still sounds nice.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (November 11)
You'll have to wait until our next issue hits to learn the juicy details about the Bethesda's latest mega-RPG, but having seen it in action we have no doubts that this game will win over fans of the series and impress anyone who sets eyes on it.

Its $5 bucks in Canadian dollars. It might be less in the USA.

I hope for more info, hoping they correct their course from the absolute RIDICULOUS writing in Oblivion. The trailer at the VGAs nearly sent me to tears laughing it was so cliche. I could see it being use to promote [censored] Fantasy Action Movies on sci-fi.

I found the writing in Oblivion pretty amateur too.

Comparing Oblivion writing to Morrowind writing is like comparing Fallout 3 writing to Fallout New Vegas writing...

Which is to say the latter is superior to the former.

IMO, naturally.

Writing as in script? Story? Lore? How the signs were in English not Daedric? Oblivion's writing was fine I thought. Especially the guilds. (assuming you mean script)

@dakorma how the hell are Dragons cliche? No one has done Dragons properly but Beowulf and thats a movie. Dragonborn is also not cliche. Neither is Skyrim. Next your gonna tell me that the TREES in Oblivion were cliche.
