WE NEED TO LEARN ABOUT

the engine

the gameplay

the writing/dialogue/lore friendliness

everything else

in that order

in terms of lore, arena built the foundations, daggerfall built the walls, morrowind populated the house with furniture, and oblivion shot everything down- i hope skyrim builds the house again converts it into a castle

Saying Oblivion "shot everything down" is way too dramatic.

It's more like: arena built the foundations, daggerfall built the walls, morrowind populated the house with furniture, and oblivion was the dog that came in and pooped on the rug.

I'm sorry to be the one to have to break this you, but it was recently revealed that all 14 pages of the Skyrim article will be devoted exclusively to the revolutionary amount and variety of calipers in the game. Supposedly it will truly be the best caliper simulation game ever created, and it will perhaps even make gamers forget about Oblivion and it's severe lack of caliper variety. We'll have to wait a while to see the surely breathtaking caliper-based gameplay and caliper-centric dialogue.

Because in many ways it was step down from it's predecessors?

Generally, I don't mind if a game studio takes things out of their next game in a series, as long as they replace it with something else. And that's where Oblivion fell short for me. It did a few things right, but it did many things worse than in previous games.

Play Daggerfall, then play Morrowind, then play Oblivion. Notice the raise then decline in writing quality. Honestly it disregards the previous lore, it makes a [censored] mockery of the universe, and contributes close to nothing in terms lore additions. As far as quests go, I can only think of 3 that were really all that interesting and had any branches what so ever, and the main plot lasted roughly 10 hours at the longest. The province was round the same size as Vvardenfell, despite being at least 4 times the size on a map. It was missing 3 cities, and none of the cities themselves matched up with the lore. IE the imperial city was supposed to be situated on seven islands with ginormous pyramids in the center of each. The province was supposed to be a clashing of around 6 different land styles, snowy hills meeting teperate forests which clashed with highlands and led into massive swamps the borders of which were undergoing desertification.

As far as the landscaps go THAT HAPPEND

let ,me specify

one or two FULL pages on the engine

one page on combat (i also hope that bethesda have made a demo dungeon for these guys, so that they can fight the varied opponents)

one page on skills

four pages worth of pictures, interwoven into stuff

a page on dialogue and npcs

two pages on awsome features like werewolves and mounted combat.

two more pages comparing skyrim to other games, and the rest an interview with the developers

you know i understand were you are coming from and all but rember many of the things that were taken out of oblivion were do to technical limitation, because the xbox 360 was a new console and all. so i like to give it some slack, also oblivion was my first rpg and my favorite game of all time so im probably biased.

Ice capped mountains in background, maybe the word SKYRIM in the sky and either a dragon or a Nordic warrior in the front

Does GI online happen on the 6th?

Or do you only get the full story online after the magazine has been out?

I am a subscriber and have filled out all my online info to get "special access" (although I have not noticed anything special since I entered my account number into my profile).

I hope to see the entire story ONLINE on the FIRST day the print hits the shelves!

Are my hopes only dreams??? :cookie:

Game Informer Article from Tomb Raider cover

Actually, that article has different information (some regarding the engines used) than what was in the Tomb Raider article.

Im so excited. I think oblivion was severely lacking in caliper variation. I hope there's some sort of caliper. Diversity can only go so far, I want my calipers to be personalized.

The Skyrim cover will be revealed on January 6th 2011
Read the OP and I'm still sort of confused about this, I'm assuming this means that we only get to see the cover on GI's website and that the February issue is being shipped at a later date, correct?

Also, I can see an amazing screenshot and still know nothing about it, I need info plox.
