The February Game Informer Cover Thread XII

Post » Fri May 14, 2010 12:58 pm

There's only one word with six letter (without repeating letters).
Fifth line, fourth word.

If it's just English in some strange letters then that could be 'skyrim'?

/guessing in the dark

There's one character that appears several times, the dot with two lines underneath, and often appears at the end of words. I suspect it's an e but it could be a y. The characters may directly translate into english but it may be heavily accented.

Yes, you'll have help later today

Fear not, there will be plenty of screens. And we wouldn't put a screenshot on the cover. This is just the very beginning of the stuff GI will be sharing

Will they be sharing it only for the buyers of the magazin or also with those not living in the US?

So when "later today"?
Will Europeans still be awake? It's almost 18:30 where I live...

You do have a point there. It's a good marketing move for those who don't know about TES.

But for us TES fans, it's nothing we haven't seen before.

I compared that one to the one in the cover. They don't seem to match.
Also, seems like the Akaviri writing style is the same as in some parts of Asia (writing from up to down instead of from left to right).

I don′t understand why people are disapointed, it′s just a cover of a magazine...
I′ll be looking forward for the content

While I don't mind that they didn't put some beautiful concept art on the cover I have to say. To the people who think it's classy, maybe so maybe not.

TES V isn't the first to go with simplicity for a magazine cover and add some kind of hidden message for smart enough fans.

I think it's a -fair- cover. No more, no less.

Well I was at first , but Morrowind's cover is also very, very simple, and the game is amazing. So yeah, a silver logo and a pitch black background makes me think this game is gonne be much more darker than any other elder scrolls game, both in story and content :D and thats a good thing!!

It gives me that impression too. I like the cover, and was worried it'd be more in the style of Oblivion's (with the generic warrior guy grimacing at us). What I don't like so much is that GI seem to have forgotten that not all ES fans are American; I apparently can't see the fancy 3D logo effect because I can't actually buy the magazine.

"Over 20 screenshots" will be a lot more interesting than any cover though.

I don't see anything wrong with the cover. From the way they describe it is going to look gorgeous when you get the magazine. I was hoping for a quick screenie on the cover just to tie me over til I get the magazine but I think it is more than a good cover when I get it.

My god at the people in this thread. Even GStaff and a Beth employee!

No real disappointment here. It was really quite expected, honestly.

I like it. Better than some cheesy concept art.

Nope, you just missed a bunch of people whining about how the fact that there were no screenshots on the cover ruined their lives forever. :P

For all the people wondering on how to solve the puzzle a little reading may help... "What's that on the back cover? The strange language seen there offers the first hints of Skyrim's story, along with a unique tie to the singing in the recent teaser trailer. What does it say? The answer lies in translating the stanzas into English. Check back later today to solve the puzzle. It's the first installment of our month-long extravaganza of online Skyrim stories" this was taken from the cover reveal article from gameinformer.com.

To be honest I wasn't going to pick up the issue I was going to wait for the info to hit the web, but after reading what Gstaff said on the last thread I've decided to buy the cover and perhaps frame it. I really hope it looks stunning in person.

So I say I like the cover. Love you Beth!

Just so you know the text appears to have been drawn all by hand so it's not using a font. Some characters may look slightly different but they're the same character.

The text isn't Daedric, if you assume the first two words are Dovahkinn repeated then you can try to take the letters and form other words.

Like so...

Not really making much sense "DVN" obviously isn't a word.

Ideas?

This afternoon. Keep in mind Game Informer works in the Central Time Zone, so probably during their work day.

My understanding is that you should be able to access everything on the hub (gameinformer.com/skyrim)
But how are we people outside the US supposed to get the information if we cant buy the magazin?

Other magazines will be coming soon. Until then, keep an eye on the Game Informer hub.

And nothing anyone can't do in 2 minutes with photoshop using the only thing that's publicly available about Skyrim: The graphics from TES.com. At least we know we wont be getting a making off video of that cover, like they did with the Tomb Raider one, but that's probably a plus, since hopefully they'll have more room for actual info instead of fluff.
