The first DLC has arrived. Your expectation for future DLCs?

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2016 1:15 am

I played Automatron DLC for 5 hours straight last night... and I had real fun.

Despite the fact we can use the new contents for hundreds of hours in many different ways, I gotta admit the actual content in the first DLC is very short and limited.

After finishing the Automatron DLC, I am actually lowering my expectations for next two DLCs announced.

Wasteland work shop DLC probably will be smaller than Automatron..

and since I put different creatures against each other all the time using intimidation perk it probably cannot bring me any new experience.

I also stopped expecting anything amazing from Far Harbor..

I am ready for worst possible situation of Far Harbor having just 2.5 times more contents than Automatron. lol

We waited long time..

Automatron was super fun experience, but it wasn`t good enough for 4 months waiting.

I am wondering how other players` expectations on future DLCs have changed now the first DLC has arrived.

I'm not expecting much of anything from the second DLC, but I am expecting more content than Dawnguard and Dragonborn for Far Harbor.

My hope would be that the extra DLC after Far Harbor is another large DLC like Far Harbor instead of something like Automatron. I did like Automatron more than Anchorage and Mothership Zeta, but these small DLCs are far less preferable to the stuff in New Vegas.

Given the price point of WW, if you got hyped that was your own fault. I don't think anyone really hyped Automatron and many seem to be enjoying it a lot. I think for $10 of the $60+ it was well worth it given the new content it provided. I'm not sure why people expect more for the amount they pay for things. I'm on the assumption there is no questline for WW it will soley be the mechanics of trapping/area fighting and new settlement pieces. You know why I think that? Because they told us.... $5 which equates to $2.50 or less with the season pass.

I really hope the first two are the end of small DLCs.

I would really like to get a DLC like Dead Money.. where things are completely different from normal game setting and we must play with minimum equipment.

Far Harbor could be fun... but overall I don`t think it will be anything too different from FO4 swamp area and FO3 point lookout.

I am not questioning the value of Automatron,

but I was just a little bit disappointed when the new fun ended in 5 hours after 4 months of waiting. that`s all.

I will get some more fun out of these new robots, but it`s not gonna make things whole lot more exciting for my current game.

I really enjoyed Dead Money, but the issue with a similar DLC in Fallout 4 is that there most likely wouldn't be skill checks or interesting characters/narrative. Although if they prove me wrong by incorporated a crap-ton of dialogue that's reliant on SPECIAL and perks then I would be overjoyed.

I expect Wasteland Workshop to add more to settlements of course but whereas people think it's just an Arena and cosmetic items I think it's going to be more about production, building safe zones and having more for your settlers to do then farm, protect and shopkeep. Maybe even have the options to set up a casino-like area or making the caravan stuff more expansive.

Hmm, I wonder if we will get a brand new settlement as well since most settlements are too small to build a large size arena.

I am actually interested to know what kind of quest we get to start all this new pokemon process. lol

If we can keep collection of creatures like some kind of zoo, it could be awesome especially when combined with Automatron robots. lol

4 months of waiting, but prolly only took them a couple to make. But I love it! I finished it in around 3 hours. but still get random encounters, radiants, and settlement attacks with shiny new robutts that look so kool especially at night with the firework show they all put on!!

Spiffed up my dreary Commonwealth nicely!
worth every cent..

4month waiting is nothing. Is actually a short time for a DLC the size of Automatron.

Maybe i express wrong, i really dont know what ppl was expecting to get from it.

We got 1 extra companion/s (since u can build as many robots as u want), new armors, weapons, and 2 new areas (that as dungeons are really good). A short story (yeah it was short but it wasnt horrible). And they add new stuff to the core game.

I actually didn`t expect much.

but I got my hopes high while I was playing it... until I realized I already am at the door of Mechanist`s lair... lol

I thought there would be more steps between meeting Ada to finding Mechanist... especially with Rust Devils involved.

Something like raiding few more Rust Devil`s hideouts to find part for Robobrain bodies and meeting some of their members...

Go find your complainers and put up with them.

I am not complaining but just asking what people expect from future DLCs after experiencing first one.

I'm kinda hoping that the next DLC will finish the Combat Zone (since the "owner" inside is talking about rebuilding and nothing happens). Would be nice to also be able to participate in an arena as well as place bet in a place that's not made by the player. Boston needs more unique locations. I'm not expecting it though, in fact I highly doubt it.

As for Far harbour I'm expecting to be the size of former (big) storyline DLC's. If it's more content than that I'll be pleasantly suprised. I didn't view Automatron or Wasteland Workshop as story dlc's so I'm not getting dissapointed hearing it's only a couple of hours long quest. Seems like bethesda is trying something different with these "shorter" dlc's. Something that will be affecting your entire playthrough and keep coming back to it. I kinda like that, as long as that doesn't have an effect on the story DLC's. I want to be able to enjoy them the same way I did in FO3 and NV.

sorry didnt mean to sound like that =P.

I was just saying that the DLC reflect what Fallout 4 try to show that is mechanics, so that what i expect from the future DLC. Alot new stuff that add to the core game, and not something that is self contain on the DLC area like Fallout Nv DLC.

Automatron add alot to the main game after i beat it. And with thew new Survival Mode and starting from 0 again it will be fun to redo alot of the areas with new enemies and new companions (hard to choose between my robots =P)

I'm not expecting anything from future DLC tbh. It will be what it will be. I know I won't be buying any of the small DLC though. Far Harbor is the only one that I'm keeping an eye on.

I am far more interested in the kit that comes out before the next dlc.

That being said, I am more interested in the scripts they are adding then the buildings. Like how exactly are they going to implement the arena? And how can a modder subvert that to other ends. Imagine capturing a raiders then having them fight for their freedom. Once free'd they can be a productive member of your settlement. Think of the Pit dlc, only in this case you're the boss.

As for the buildings, not seen much that literally hasn't been added via mod already. But, it remains to be seen if they have lots of other hidden goodies like Automatron surprised us with.

I finished Automatron now I enjoyed it a lot and I'm really enjoying the after effect in the wasteland. There are loads of high level robots spicing locations and the wasteland up. There is a new faction also coming at you, the radiant is cool too and they start attacking your settlements too in high numbers. I think this is the biggest impact on the base game map of any Fallout DLC which makes it more interesting. Fun new weapons and an interesting eyebot related addon is great too.

As for future, my expectations are low for WW, I hope the taming/Arena parts are well done and the robots can be used and maybe gambling too. I have high hopes for Far Harbor as I love the exploration of new lands and it should bring quests and new gear/enemies. After that no idea, hoping for at least 3 more DLC's hopefully none small, guess we will see.

Also, new Survival is a major boost, should bring a great new experience and I'm looking forward equally as much for mods to PS4, eventually. Fallout 4 has potential to become very special with everything to come. DLC, will make or break it though as far as it's reputation goes.

I'm hoping WW does something with Combat Zone. It might be a bit of a stretch, but considering that Automatron did something with a previously useless area, and that Combat Zone falls under the subject matter of the DLC, it would be cool if they actually finished it.

Automatron costs 10$. What kind of expectations did you even have? o_O It was clear that it would be smaller than any of FO3 and NV DLC. How long you had to wait does not matter.

Probably? WW costs 5$ and only adds new stuff for settlements while Automatron costs 10$ and adds several things.

It's not probably, it is definitely.

Automatron's story/quests/locations/items cost 3-5$, the rest of the price are for new mechanics.

Far Harbor seems to introduce no new mechanics and if so it is 5x-8x more quests/locations/enemies/items than Automatron.
