The first-line lyrics game

Post » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:27 pm

Someone mentioned a while back that they intended on bringing this game back, but it hasn't been forthcoming. I'll post up the first lines of 10 songs (and feel free to make your own list too. Just stick your music player on random), and the first person to guess which song the line is from gets... Well, nothing really, but it's fun. The only rule: Don't use a search engine!

1. "[Song title], [Song title]. Don't let them fool ya, or even try to school ya." Bob Marley and the Wailers - Could You Be Loved [Turns-The-Page]
2. "You were gone when we found you. You were practically surrounded, you were trapped."
3. "Bring your bored, bring your broken hearted. Got a vessel that we've chartered."
4. "You may tire of me, as our December sun is setting, 'cause I'm not who I used to be."
5. "We want a steady revolution. We want the blindfold off our eyes."
6. "I am a death house, haunted mirror, acerbic heart, ain't nothing pure in here."
7. "Well my daddy left home when I was three.." Johnny Cash - Boy Named Sue [SpankyTheElf]
8. "The sea's evaporating, though it comes as no surprise."
9. "Hey, hey, hey, my sister. Where have you been? I've been looking all over for you in this world where we don't fit in."
10. "Transmission! Third world war, third round." Rage Against The Machine - Guerilla Radio [Rogue_Soviet]

I have no idea what yours are

1 Our lives run different ways
Through the rain I see you in the sun
Genocide _ offspring

2 Nur für mich bist du am Leben
Ich steck dir Orden ins Gesicht

(would you rather the english translation ?)

3 Sit back bare your cross to me
Oh won't I listen

I have no idea what yours are

1 Our lives run different ways
Through the rain I see you in the sun

Our star shines anyway
if you wish upon it we are one!

Genocide-The Offspring

1.Day after day
you whole life's a wreck.

2.I saw a little kid as he walked around
he picked a candy bar up off the ground

3. I'm [song] who made the world what it is today

(Hint they're all by The Offspring)

1. "[Song title], [Song title]. Don't let them fool ya, or even try to school ya."

Bob Marley, Could You Be Loved.

How do I even know that?

Oh wait, yeah, his was the only decent music in GTA IV.

(well, apart from Ruslana's)

I will do mine, I aim to be so horribly cryptic nobody will get them:

1.Si l'on m'avait conseillée,J'aurais commis moins d'erreurs,J'aurais su me rassurer,Toutes les fois que j'ai eu peur,

2.Oy kuvala zozulechka tay mene zabula, A mogo Kohanom nichka vzyala tay mynula!

3.I must've dreamed a thousand dreams, Been haunted by a million screams, But I can hear the marching feet, They're moving into the street.

Hey, nobody said anything about English!

2. "You were gone when we found you. You were practically surrounded, you were trapped."

Can't believe I had to listen to their songs to get that one. I'm losing it.

It's one of my favourite songs by them too. :(

I liked this game last time it was here, good to see it back.

1. Standing there alone / The ship is waiting / All systems are go /Are you sure?

2. I hope that our few remaining friends give up on trying to save us / I hope that we come up with a fail safe plot to piss off the dumb few that forgave us

3. I had visions / I was in them / I was looking into the mirror / To see a little bit clearer / The rottenness and evil in me Flagpole Sitter- Harvey Danger
[eindecker]

4. I've got a cupboard with cans of food, filtered water, and pictures of you / and I'm not coming out until this is all over The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes [th3undon3on3]

5. What is this thing I've become? / Another animal chain destined / To fall, to crawl, to kill anything and anyone?

That's all I'm going to post for now.

That was me. I didn't want to flood the forums with games since there seems to be a new one popping up every couple of days :P

I'll post some lyrics tomorrow.

1.You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need. You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,

2.Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air.

3.Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar. You're gonna go far, fly high, You're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try;they're gonna love you.
4.The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

5.in my rear view mirror the sun is going down
sinking behind bridges in the road
and i think of all the good things
that we have left undone

There is a common thing between all these lyrics.
I am not good with other lyrics people posted so I can't answer much of them.

Not your gonna go far kid, thats "show me how to lie your getting better all the time, turning all against one is an art thats hard to teach".

I am guessing most people here listen to rock or something... Yeah I only hae one rock band on itunes, so im not getting any of these.

Pendulum other side.

Both of 'em are Pink Floyd, the former being Dogs and the latter being Have A Cigar.

Edit: lyrics:
"Gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth. Only, I don't know how they got out, dear."

"Took a drive into the Sprawl to find the house where we use to stay; couldn't read the number in the dark. You said let's save it for another day."

2. From the top of the ocean, To the bottom of the sky, Well, when I get claustrophobic, I can, you know that I can
3. Did you see your friend crying from his eyes today? Did you see him run through the streets and far away?

The world is a vampire

Smashing Pumkins (god I hated them) Erm I've heard most often as The World is a Vampire, but I think it also goes by Bullets and Butterfly Wings or somesuch

I liked this game last time it was here, good to see it back.

1. Standing there alone / The ship is waiting / All systems are go /Are you sure?

Googled this one because it just didn't sound right. Glad I did...saved me some

4.The grass was greener

sinking behind bridges in the road
and i think of all the good things
that we have left undone

There is a common thing between all these lyrics.
I am not good with other lyrics people posted so I can't answer much of them.

4) High Hopes, from Division Bell?

Also, it's customary in this thread for the lyric poster to edit or repost an updated post that has the answerd lyrics crossed out with the correct submitter's attributed...if that made sense :)
