The First thing you think about...

Sort of a shoot-from-the-hip topic.

What's the FIRST thing you think about when you think about Fallout 1. Same question with Fallout2.

F1 You don't have to follow a set path to accomplish the game

F2 My love and game addiction drug is back, give me more, oh yes

basically, I like both and the first thought about Fallout was, awesome, I can play this game over and over and over again differently each time

and then Fallout 2 came and I couldnt' wait to just play it over and over and over again to see what other cool things there was to find, do and die from

Liked Fallout Tactics, just wish it could have been or have an expansion that allowed a nonlinear game play of situations/missions

SPECIAL (I ride the short bus, baby! :))
VATS (Short of removal, how do you solve this with an MMO?)
Perks
Non-Linear World Exploration (Tactics was a mistake in this regard)

3rd Person Perspective (wouldn't mind a shifting perspective somewhat akin to NWN)
50's optimism & old-tyme feel meets post-apocalyptic pseudo-steampunk thematic elements.
Corvega, Nuka Cola
Power Armor
Brotherhood of Steel.
The Enclave
Super Mutants (Why isn't there Power Armor for them like the last boss in F2?)
Ghouls (I'm going to miss Harold - if Bethesda's F3 is canon, will there be a difference between FEV ghouls and rad ghouls?)
FEV, GECK, Vault-Tec Vaults
PIP BOY!!

I loved the hummer and party-play elements in Tactics (I know it wasn't F1 or F2, but...)
And, will players have the option of choosing to play a Robot, Ghoul, Super Mutant, Vault Dweller, etc?
What about joining organizations, such as the Enclave and BoS and Followers of the Apocalypse, etc?

The questions... oh, the many, many, many questions...

Freedom. Freedom its main thing for me at fallout. Not any game have so big different ways to make same task - get to me the meat (for example) - at fallout you can - steal it from someones house, or take it from dogs lanch... or just kill the quest giver becose you vegetarian and dont like that tasks... F1: Dogmeat, Vault Boy, The Inkspots, Vault 13, Pissing off Richard Dean Anderson (Killian Darkwater)

F2: Louie Armstrong, The Enclave, Power Armour Mark II, Harris (aka the big scary mofo!)

and of course for both, Ron Pearlman's awesome narration and opening line :D Image
I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.

F1: the cave you walk through right after you start the game, and a 10mm pistol.
F2: hanging around klamath in leather jacket with a shotgun.

All this because I played both games when I was a really small kid and I usually remade my char after I finished klamath since my friend told me there are kids in Den who steal your stuff so I was scared to go there.

FO1: Power armour, the brotherhood, the glow. The master was sweet. "join, DIE!" Dogmeat is the pwnzor. (I loaded the game every time he died on my first play though. Yes thats right, I got him to survive the shield generators in the military base, AND the masters gattling guns.) The starting cave full of rats. "Easy exp, here I come!"

FO2: I haven't finished this one yet, I only picked up the Fallout Collection a few months ago. Frank Horrigan. WTF. The Chryslus! A car, sweet as! The first temple, pretty much the exact opposite to the rat cave in the first game, that thing was hell! Especially since I had some experience building characters from the first game, made a late game powerhouse (high P and A, low E and S) and then got flattened in there.

I think it is very important to note that no one has mentioned the Water Chip or the GECK yet. It really is a testament to the free world nature of these games, and to the ability of their creators to make a convincing world where could loose themselves in their own adventures.
