Iain screamed when the gunshots sounded, it was so unexpected. He ran out from the corridor he was at and tried to find his way to the gunshots. The building was like a maze however, it was difficult to navigate and by about ten seconds of running Iain was lost.

He started shouting, "Hey!!! Where are you? Let me help!!!!!!"
Iain swore the checked a room, he held his Repeater tight, the room was dark. It looked like another office room, with computers, files and printers. Iain had noticed that the gunfire had stopped, but he also noticed a figure in the room. It was a man standing in the middle of the room with his back towards Iain. It was Jansen, slowly Iain walked towards him, intending to surprise him, as a joke.
He crept right up until he could touch him, then Iain shouted, "RAAAARRRRR!!"
Jansen turned around, Iain could see him more clearly, but it wasn't Jansen, it was that Water Mutant, it let out an almighty snarl.
Iain screamed, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

The mutant grabbed Iain by the shoulders, its claws sank deep into his flesh, he bellowed out in pain. The mutant then began throwing Iain wall to wall, Iain couldn't feel the impacts of the slams, but each time the mutant threw Iain against the wall his vision grew darker and darker.

At one point the mutant threw Iain at the wall and took a breath. Iain was sitting against the wall barely concious, blood was pouring down his face. The Repeater was on the ground beside him.
Take the Repeater.
I can't... I'm too tired...
TAKE IT!!!

The mutant got its breath back and dashed towards Iain, intending to finish him. As it was about to reach Iain it stopped abruptly, even as a mutant it could tell something wasn't right. The Repeater was touching the mutants chest, Iain was holding it. The creature hissed at him, then Iain pulled the trigger. The Water Mutant flew back against the wall by the force of the shot, it lay on the ground with a clean hole through its chest.
Iain dropped the gun and closed his eyes, someone will come soon...

IC

A loud yell echoed through the halls of the building, and instantly caught Wilhelm's attention. He looked around, and down both sides of the hall. He could hear Jansen yelling to him and Lydia, but it didn't sound like it was for help. There was still one other fish-man to kill, before Wilhelm could investigate the yell.

Distracted by his own thoughts, he couldn't help Lydia. He watched as she fought the creature, until finally jumping into the fight.

Wilhelm grunter as he tackled the thing to the ground. It hissed, and showed it's sharp, sharp claws. Trying to claw at Wilhelm, he jumped off of it and quickly took his gun from the holster. With one quick shot, he hit the creature in it's chest. Then put another round into it's head.

"Go find Jansen!" Wilhelm yelled to Lydia, before running off to find the source of the cry.

He sprinted down the hallway, and to another level of the building. As he ran past a door, he could hear bangs and a snarl. He reached for the door handle, and tried to turn it. The door was locked, and Wilhelm started to bang on it.

"What's going on! Open the door!" He yelled.

He heard more loud bangs, and finally tried to kick the door in. Nothing happened, as he wasn't strong enough. Finally thinking, he pulled out his gun and shot at the lock. He kicked it one more time, the door flew into the room. As soon as he kicked the door, a loud gunshot went off.

Wilhelm looked to Ian, who was propped up against the wall; his eyes closed. Wilhelm quickly got on the ground by his side, and tried to keep him awake. It didn't work. He checked his pulse, and was happy to find him still alive. Wilhelm started to yell through the door, hoping someone could hear him.

"Jansen! Lydia! Ian's hurt! We've got to get him back to the boat!"

OOC:I just needed someone to make a post I could work on. If you need to, PM people to tell them its still up.

Jansen hauled himself along the hallway until he heard three shots from down the hallway, two small pistol shots, and another much louder. Ian is the only one on the team with a rifle, so unless the fishman can use guns, hes in trouble. He also heard wilhelm yell something, calling for him and lydia.

The jagged cuts across jansens torso burned like hell, and he still hadnt retrieved his shotgun. Not sure how much good ill do..wounded, bleeding, and all I have is a revolver with five shots left. Suddenly, jansen turned, and there they were, wilhelm and ian leaning aganst a wall next to a fishman with a sizeable hole through its chest.

"Im here..what happened...wheres lydia..is she..?" The questions were coming too fast, and the pain was becoming unbearable. he needed to lie down, but his body was too hopped up on adrenaline.

"I just need to..I need to lie down..now..morphine..in my bag." Rebmembering that he reached into his satchel and retrieved a strenge and stabbed it into his hand and injected.

The drgug took effect immediately, and he fell back into soothin unconciousness.

((OOC: Almost forgot; Ian is taking a bit of a break, and said he'll be back to catch up with us in the near future. Which is why we take him to the boat.))

Wilhelm cursed loudly, when he saw Jansen slip away into a sleep.

'Where are the others?' He thought to himself.

"Lydia! Doc! Keith!" He yelled, hoping his voice would get to one of them.

Still waiting for a response, or a rescue, he quickly tore his shirt in half. He fashioned come bandages for Jansen and Ian, luckily Ian didn't need that much to stop the bleeding. But Jansen looked like he was in pretty bad shape.

Wilhelm gently moved the two together, and back to the corner of the office. Using some desks, he created somewhat of a wall around them. Everything in the room was useful to Wilhelm, and he was forced to use paper on top of Jansen's bandaged wounds.

He heard a noise come from outside the door, and he quickly went away from the makeshift fort. He didn't want any attention on the two wounded men. He pulled out his gun, and slowly walked towards the destroyed door leading to the hall.

"Lydia? Is that you?" He asked, hopeful.

A sickening shriek came from the halls. Followed by another, and another... Wilhelm back away from the door, and held out his gun. He shut his eyes, and gulped.

"Where are you all? I need your help." He muttered to himself.

OOC: Seriously, PM some people and get them back in here, and maybe send messages to a few to people that you know are good and ask them to join. We can take them with us after we go back to the ship to drop off Ian.

Jansen slipped into conciousness two or three hours lster to see wilhelm covering the door with his pistol. He tried to stand up, but could barely move without invoking a wave of pain.

"Hey wilhelm...if you look in the hallway, about five doors down, you'll find my shotgun. Bring it back here and you should have some more firepower. Its not much, but it seems pretty good on those things if you can hit them." He took stock of the room for a minute and noticed somthing was missing.

"Wait a second. Wheres Lydia..and Kieth..and Doc, did we lose everyone?"

((Really sorry guys.))

Lydia sprinted down the hallway. Crap, she thought over and over again. It was pitch black, she couldn't even see the walls, and all the while mind shattering shreiks were echoing up the building.

"Wilheim?! Jansen?! ANYONE?!" She shouted for the tenth time. "Please! Where are you?"

She crouched down on the floor and hugged her bag. It was freezing in the building, and damp too. Turning her head to one side she noticed Jansen's shotgun.

"Wh- What?" How did that get here?

Wilhelm looked at Jansen, and frowned at what he had said.

"Jesus, I hope not. It's been less than an hour."

He cursed, and punched the wall. He could hear the random noises from the mutants get closer.

"I know they heard shots from the boat, why wouldn't they send anyone?" Wilhelm asked himself.

Wilhelm heard something through the creature's growls and snarls; a muffled voice. It sounded like a girl's, it had to be Lydia. Wilhelm was happy to hear someone's voice, and to know they were still alive. Hopefully the others were okay too. Wilhelm started to yell back.

"Lydia! Please tell me that's you?"

He poked his head out the door, and down the hallway. Unfortunately, the only thing he saw were two water mutants. The bad part was that they saw him too. With a blood curdling scream, the four charged Wilhelm. Wilhelm started to panic, and he jumped behind the fort of desks. He couldn't get to Jansen's weapon, why it was left behind he didn't know.

Three of the four stepped into the room with Wilhelm, Jansen, and Ian. Wilhelm ducked down, and the mutants managed to miss him. They started to walk around the room, smelling through the air. Wilhelm assumed they could easily smell their scent, even though they were more fish rather than a dog.

Wilhelm clenched his small handgun; "Please, someone..."

Jansen saw the mutants crawl into the room, narrowly missing wilhelm, and thw shock knocked him awake. He still couldnt move his legs, but he still had his revolver. raising the gun, he drew a bead on one of the mutants and fired.

*BANG* "Wilhelm! Im not going down without taking a few with me." *BANG* *BANG* One of the mutants went down. "If you see an opening, go for it! No matter what, find lydia, and get her back on the [censored] boat!" *BANG* *BANG* *Click* the revolver was out of rounds, but he kept on pulling the trigger for a few seconds before dropping it and taking hold of the .45 strapped to Ians belt.

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* Another mutant dead. *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* And another. *BANG* The slide slammed backward and the clip dropped out of the 1911. There were still two mutants in the room, but one had a bullet lodged in its shoulder. Come on...someone...please..anyone

Lydia picked up the shotgun and slung her bag over her shoulder. She charged toawrds the noises in one of the offices, but stopped in the doorway. In the darkness she could barely make out Jansen, Wilehim and Ian. None of them looked very good at all. To their left on the other side of the makeshift barricade were two Mutants. One grunted, and almost turned around, but resumed it's search.

Lydia ran up behind one and smacked it on the head with her Candlebra, which she was still carrying around. It immediately fell on the floor with a loud thud, alerting the last Mutant.
Without thinking, Lydia raised the shotgun and pulled the trigger, the impact sent her flying back into the barricade, but the Mutant died, at least.
She jumped over the desk and opened her bag, looking for some medical supplies.

"Oh Jansen... What happened?" He barely looked conscious, or able to talk for that matter.

Lydia took out a syringe of Med-X and carefully injected it into his chest. He looked worried.

"Don't worry, it's only some morphine. You won't feel a thing." She smiled and reached for a pair of tweezers in her bag. She ripped Wilheim's bandages open and carefully removed a claw that had become stuck in his chest, then she stitched and bandaged the wound before finally giving him a Stimpak and some Rad-X. You can't be too careful.

Jansen was awake just long enough to see Lydia take out the two fishmen with suprising ease. Looks like she isnt as helpless as I thought. He was also awake to see her stoop over his bosy, the blood strained from her face.

"Oh Jansen... What happened?" She probably thinks im dead. He tried to let out a chuckle, but only managed a weak gasp. As she started to fumble through her medical supplies, a worried look spread over his face,as he couldnt avoid one thought. Am I going to die here, today, in this burned out office building?

She finally found the syrenge she was looking for and jabbed it into his chest, accompanying it with soothing words. He didnt really hear her, but he didnt much bother to listen, either. Wilhelm and Lydia can hold their own without me for a few hours.

As he slipped into a soothing blackness, a black and white image started flickering in his head, the same memory that had tormented him every night since the bombs fell. It was a 12 year old jansen standing beside his father. He knew that in a few minutes, he would board the boat, and a few minutes after that, his father would be dead.

I could have stpped him...I culd have made him get on the boat, forced him to come with me, I could have saved him..or at least died alongside him. Jansen hated himself...he hid it with pills and an attitued, but he hated himself and knew it.

He awaked a few hours later, screaming at the top of his lungs as the same words, the same lies, repeated themselves over and over in his head.

"Trust me, Jansen, nothing is going to happen to either of us. Im in the most powerful nation on earth, the home of the free, and you'll be touring the globe on the first and finest ocean-faring vessel the Peoples Government ever constructed. We'll both be fine."

He screamed for he didnt know how long. He screamed until he reached a semi-concious state, then he grasped out for anything solid, anyone alive, until he caught hold of Lydia and pulled her towards him, until they were face to face, and whispering the same thing over and over to her.

"Tell me hes not dead, tell me im not insane...Tell me hes not dead, tell me im not insane...Tell me hes not dead, tell me im not insane...Tell me hes not dead, tell me im not insane...Tell me hes not dead, tell me im not insane..."

"Jansen, stop! You're scaring me! What are you talking about?" Lydia pushed him aside and stood up. He was shivering, clutching his knees. Lydia passed a worried look to Wilheim who returned it immediately. Jansen was the strongest of all of us, and even he's going crazy.

"Jansen, listen to me." She crouched down and looked into his eyes. "We're going to make it, you're going to be alright. You DON'T need those pills!"

Lydia almost burst out crying at the sight of Jansen in such distress, but her tough insincts kicked in and they wouldn't be broken. She took his hand and stroked it gently, like a mother, without breaking eye contact. His pulse slowed and he stopped shaking.

"Alright?" Lydia smiled.

Slowly, his vision began to return to him, and his whispers began to die down to a low murmur. Suddenly aware of his surroundings, Jansen snapped back to alertness. Ian was still nearby, in some sort of coma, and Lydia ws staring at him with shock in her eyes.

"Hey...nice job taking out those mutants." He said it without a care in the world, slowly reaching into his satchel and tossing a handful of pain pills into his mouth. Without hesitation, he swallowed them all with a mouthful of water.

"Whats the matter...we need to get moving, I think I can walk now." With a groan, he lifted himself up and quickly snatched his Nagant up from where he had dropped it during the firefight and snapped it open, dumping a handful of empty casings out of the cylinder onto the floor.

Checking the barrel and cylinder mechanism, he loaded seven more 7.62x38 rounds from his satchel into the cylinder and holstered the revolver. Looking around the room, he located the 1911 he had grabbed from Ian and searched the comatose mans pockets until he found two more clips of .45 for it.

He carefully dissasembled the old fashioned pistol and, after oiling its mechanism with some gun oil from a canister in his satchel, loaded a fresh clip into the extra pistol and tucked it into the back waistband of his jeans and stashed the other magazine into his satchel. You can never be too safe.

He then proceeded to grab his shotgun from Lydia, meticulously reload it with four more shells, and hand it back to her.

"You hold onto it, and keep that Baretta I handed you just before we got off the boat handy. I want to see you strap that holster to your leg and display to me exactly how to dissasemble, load, and fire it. This place is even more dangerous that I thought. You should know more than anyone, you saw what happened to me and Ian."

((OOC: Dark Fox PM'd me, and I'm waiting for his/her(?) character sheet. So I'll work the character into the story, and we'll finally have someone new. And I'm working on a map, a bestiary, and other things.))

Wilhelm watched the events unfold quickly. Before he could do anything, Jansen recovered from the state he was in; whatever had happened. He was almost spaced out, looking through the window and down into the flooded streets. A look of sadness fell over his face, just for a moment. He sighed, recognizing the building they were in; finally.

It was some old Newspaper Office, it was very small and local to just the district. His dad worked in the building, wouldn't you know. Luckily it didn't bring any painful memories, just the thought of the amount of destruction caused all over again. Wilhelm always figured mankind was smarter than that. Who would destroy their world a second time?

The second Great War just proved that Government was never a good idea; and never will be. Wilhelm always tried to think of it in a better way, but in a world where they only care about guns and money, there was no good way to think of it...

"Lydia, Jansen; we're going back to the ship. We've got to take Ian back, and hopefully replace one of our own. It's only one building, and we're down one man. Two are still MIA. And now that we know what we're dealing with, and that this may be just the beginning... We're going to have to take bigger weapons; more firepower. Shotguns, Rifles, and blunt weapons seem to be the best, eh?" Wilhelm said.

He walked over to Ian's bloody, unconscious body, and grabbed him under the arms.

"Jansen, could you give me a hand?" He said.

Keith limped towards some gunshots he'd heard. He raised his only working hand and coughed up some blood. "Internal bleeding, I guess," he muttered.

He got injured when everybody split up. A section of the floor collapsed under him. He fell one floor, hit the ground, fell through that floor too and landed in knee deep water. Though there was only one mutant in there, it still proved a challenge for Keith.

He was on his last clip. His body was beaten up. His left arm was broken, internal bleeding and a few broken ribs. Kieth tried to yell as loud as he could. "Jansen... Wilh-elm, Lyd--ia, Ian, where... are... you guys?" when heard a voice coming from around the corner. "We're going to have to take bigger weapons; more firepower. Shotguns, Rifles, and blunt weapons seem to be the best, eh?" Keith walked towards the voice and saw them picking up Ian's body. "Ah, Finally... found... you guys." He coughed up a bit more blood then fell onto the floor. "Just let me catch my breath."

Jansen was listening to wilhelms idea when he heard a noise out in the hallway. Instantly, he had his revolver drawn and cocked. He put a finger to his lips and turned to doorknob slowly. As the sound came closer, he threw open the door, and stepped into the corridor firing a single round in the direction of the noise, narrowly missing keith.

"Lydia! Its Keith, hes bleeding pretty badly and it looks like he ran into one of those fish-things! Try to patch him up as we go, we need to get back to the ship." Jansen quickly rushed forward to support Keith, examioning his injuries. Knowing the man had to be in a lot of pain, he removed a syringe of morphing from his pack and shot about half the dose into Keiths arm. Enough to dull the pain, but not enough to knock him out.

"Is okay, your gonna be fine, just keep walking."

Wilhelm gently put Ian's body down, and rushed over to Keith and Jansen. Keith seemed to be okay, but still hurt very bad. Wilhelm sighed heavily, praying that Keith could still walk on his own. They all needed to get to the ship, and prepare for whatever was next.

"Christ, so much has gone wrong already..." Wilhelm said to himself.

He examined Keith's wounds, and gave a sigh of relief when he saw they weren't too bad. He was still awake, but barely, and he was breathing heavily. He didn't mean to rush things, but he had no choice. If another one of those fish mutants came, the chances of someone dying was too great to handle.

"C'mon Keith, we can't stop to rest just yet; we've got to get to the ship. Lydia, keep an eye on Keith for us, please? And Jansen, grab Ian's feet, I'll get his arms. If Doc is in this building, we'll try getting his attention with the ship's speakers, or something, okay? We've got to go..."

Wilhelm frowned, and waited for someone else to say something.

Doc walked down the halls of the building looking for some food he found none and sat down near the exit of the building he found a pack of ciggaretes on the ground and a lighter he grabbed them put a smoke in his mouth and lit it, he took a puff and blew the smoke in the air.

Jansen hoisted Ian over his shoulder, but keptone hand open and ready to draw his Nagant. Lydia was still examining Keiths injuries. After a few minutes, jansen expressed his anxiety.

"Just shoot him full of painkillers and we can patch him up for real when we get back to the ship! We need to get moving now, before it gets dark."

"Listen to Jansen! We're leaving, now. At the moment, we can't think about other's conditions, and Doc's disappearance. Let's get out of this damn building, and to safety for a little while."

Wilhelm took out his pistol again, and walked through the door and to the hallway. He motioned for the others to follow him, but he couldn't pay attention to them. He assumed, and hoped they were going to follow him no matter what.

Turning a corner to the stairwell, he watched as a shadow passed the wall. Wilhelm cursed to himself, and turned back to the group. He started to give orders, and tried to take on the role of a hero.

"Lydia? Keep Keith stable, make sure nothing happens. And Jansen, stay here and protect the rest, okay? I know no one likes the guy who plays hero, but there's only one in the stairwell. I'll take him out no problem, and yell for you guys to follow. Capiche?"

Wilhelm didn't wait for an answer, and he turned back to the stairs. The shadow was coming from the next floor up; exactly where they had to go. He crouched down, and slowly crept over to the side of the railing, and looked up to the fish mutant. He aimed the gun up the stairs, and aimed for what he had hoped was near his back. He closed one eye, and prayed.

*Bang!*

The creature fell, and Wilhelm let out a great sigh of relief. Without yelling, he looked back to the group.

"That was once in a life time for me. Someone's watching after us, eh? Let's hurry up, I'm sure that shot attracted some more mutants."

Jansen followed wilhelms every order with an unnatural subservience, given his temperment, when they reached the junction, jansen kept his shotgun at the ready, expecting the mutants to rush him the second Wilhelm took his shot.

He watched with anxiety and their leader carefully aimed his pistol and let off a single shot. Then there was nothing but silence for at least twenty seconds before wilhelm gave the all-clear.

"That was once in a life time for me. Someone's watching after us, eh? Let's hurry up, I'm sure that shot attracted some more mutants."

Jansen smiled at his comrades comment, somewhat bolstered by his confidence.

"Amen to that." Jansen wasnt a religious man, but during the fight back in the office he had prayed to every Blackfoot totem, idol, and guardian ancestor he knew th name of. Gods seem to make more sense when your about to die, I suppose.

The massive ship stayed stationary on the side of the building; the small metal bridge still extended, connecting the building and the boat. The only sounds coming from the ship were the creaks of it swaying back in forth in the water. The deck was completely silent; showing no life whatsoever. Wilhelm frowned, and looked back at the group;

"You don't think..?" He didn't want to finish the sentence.

Turning back to face the ship, he slowly started to walk over the extended bridge. He lifted his arm, and motioned for the group to follow. Without looking back, he warned Jansen and Lydia, because they were both watching out for the hurt. As Wilhelm reached the deck, he heard another sickening screech; this one louder than normal, and coming from very far away. The pitch was slightly higher, but it sounded like the fish-mutants.

Wilhelm looked up to the general directed of the screech, and saw a giant bird flying closer to the bridge. As it hovered above the ship, it let out another screech. It's wings folded back, and it quickly swooped down towards the group on the bridge. Wilhelm cursed, and started to open fire.

One bullet left the gun, before Wilhelm had to reload the pistol. He cursed, as he shuffled to grab a spare clip from the bag. The bird was easily twice the size of a regular man, and countless times the power. As it attempted to strike the group, it missed and flew farther back into the sky. It quickly turned around, and came down for another attack.

Before the bird was able to reach the bridge, Wilhelm could hear the whir of a minigun, and then the continuous fire coming from it. The bird was blasted back, and thrown into one of the building's windows. The Captain stood behind Wilhelm, holding the weapon with pride, trying to look like a bad ass.

"There's more," he said, "That's why no one was out here; I'm sorry. Quickly, get inside. Take your hurt directly to the infirmary. You can get more firepower, and we'll try to supply you with more people. I'll get into details later."

((OOC: I'll ask again, (but mostly directed to Sannes, being the biggest part of this) does anyone want me to start another sign-up thread, and get more people? We're all back on the ship, and I introduced another creature. Blatantly, "The Giant Birds." Without heavy firepower, they're going to be the "boss" creatures, pretty much. Until the biggun comes /hint.))
