Anybody want to help me learn how to join them or work with them ETC not got any idea how :( ?

Do Julie's quests and give them supplies. Also I'm not sure but I think doing Arcade Gannon's quest gives you rep as well.

Maybe just explore and see what you can do? With games like this one, getting told what to do or using the wiki ruins half of the fun...
