The forest, a comparison in depth.

It's a forest. There's not really much they can do with it.

That said, I really like the mossy stone head, as well as the logs and rocks and things. It definitely looks more lived-in, which is good. :)

What? Look at the forest scene. Look at the last scene of the trailer, as it moves into the valley, you can see the edges of the temple that the dragon was sitting on, you can see the edges fray as it moves. AA is definitely at a low setting. Also, another indicator is when the dovahkiin shouts, you can see the horn shadow cast on his neck from his helm and it has jagged edges. It's obvious by sight it is 360 but that is just the extra thing, but BGS has confirmed it was from the 360.

I am watching the high definition version and I do not see anything of the sort.

The shadow though, I did notice.

I am not going to read through the rest of this thread I just wanted to point out that there is a sculpture head that is very large lying in the back of the picture. Just something I missed during the video that I saw now.

That skyrim scan does not do the graphic in the forest justice att all, the oblivion one is an official screenshot. We should get an official screenshot of the Skyrim forest and compare.

Yes, you can. Max AA and having AAA enabled will make tree leaves and grass incredibly smooth and real looking.

Well I watched the HD version too and still have it up and it does. Regardless, it has already been confirmed to be 360 and as such, we know it doesn't have max AA, it will have a max of 2xAA which is not really much of an improvement over none.

Only a max of 2xAA? Shame given the 360 supports 4x.

Replaying the trailer again I do not see it. Could you perhaps be running the trailer(1280x720) maxed out on a screen of higher resolution without proper scalers?

That's not what I was getting at. I was implying that it's about as boring-looking as Cyrodiil's forests (with some notably improved clutter), but y'know, that just happens to be what forests look like.

Approve of this post OP. They have also stated that we can cut down and destroy the trees, when you factor that in the forests become 100x cooler than OB.

Yeah i'll try and find the source. It might not be the whole tree, as in the trunk, but you can def chop of branches etc. Maybe it is the whole tree i dunno.

I don't know how people can complain about the forests. They look so much better than Oblivion (the vanilla version). I can't wait to explore them.

Yeah those features look pretty cool but not what i'm referring to. I read or heard in an interview that the trees could be manipulated. I am not talking about the Havok demo videos either. Can anyone back me up on this?

Ha don't feel bad about MW setting the standard. Would i be right in saying that MW was your first TES game? People always remember their first TES as the best and tend to forget it's flaws. Daggerfall for me.

Just try and reflect on MW and remember it for what it was. Skyrim will be different, no better, no worse (hopefully ha).

I agree that the forests look better than Oblivion. They are definitely good enough for me. Maybe not as good as Two Worlds 2, or the Witcher 2, but they are definitely pretty good for an open RPG of this size.

haha that made me laugh, its obviously it is better than both of these generic boring so-called-rpgs that are a fail compared to any elder scroll... ever...and now , with skyrim.. i can compare graphics to other games! yeaa

Well if you think that is boring, then every forest is boring, because that is the typical forest in real life too. In fact, Cyrodiil's forests were far more lively than real life because you would run into an animal almost anywhere you went in it, not the same for real life. Do you want the forests to come alive and try to eat you as you walk through it or what? What would make the forest "less boring"? I never thought the forests were supposed to be thrilling, they are eye candy, very tasty eye candy.

Thanks for making your self look like a blind f a n b o y. I never said either of those games will be even close to as good as Skyrim (or any ES game for that matter), but to say they are a fail when one of them isn't even out for a few months, and you likely haven't even played the other is ridiculous. Take a look at some videos of the Witcher 2. It may not be as open or as varied as Skyrim, but those graphics (at least technically speaking)do look much better than what we have seen of Skyrim so far.

As for Two Worlds 2, I have put close to 40 hours in the game, and although it is pretty weak in a lot of areas, the graphics are actually quite good on a high level PC. This may be debatable, but I think the environments actually look better than what we have seen of Skyrim. The textures are clearly much better, the lighting seems better, and the forests (the whole point of this thread) look more alive to me. Take a look at a video of a forest in the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZRwEFpr3KQ&feature=related Look how dense, lush, and atmospheric that is. You can hate on the game all you want, but to say those graphics are terrible is just being ignorant and blind. That being said, Skyrim has a long ways to go, and we haven't seem that much of it yet, so I still think it has room to improve. Either way, graphics aren't that important to me, so Skryim will still be my game of the year.

no, just no. if you look at that video you will see that it is the MAXED OUT pc version, and not in fact the xbox 360 version. if we were doing a fair comparison then you would have provided a better link.

2 worlds 2 is a mass remix of high fantasy that we have all seen before,
i gave the game a chance and it let me down personally, not so much on a graphical level but surely in originality.

what we have seen of skyrim just so happens to be footage that was being put together a few months ago, remember the bethesda tour video, "keep out". they were just finishing it this last few months. and we have almost 9 months left to go, and we have only seen the strongest images from the xbox version.

whats so LIVE about 2 worlds forests, what is there function other than just a visual?

WITCHER 2 looks amazing, cant argue, it will rock!
2 worlds is an insult on many levels to me, the only thing i enjoy about it is its gameplay...not too bad..not bad at all. but everything else about it screams scrolls clone.
