The forums have degenerated...

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:46 pm

Sadly these forums have become so negative it is no longer fun. There are no discussions on the fun aspects, sharing of adventures, etc. I think I know why- people that are enjoying it are having fun and PLAYING THE GAME.

The other crowd makes 1000 posts a day about "10 Reasons Oblivion Was Better", "Seriously Bethesda (Rant)", "Alchemy+Enchanting+Smithing makes game too easy", "Dragons are too easy", "This game is too hard", "Worst Game Ever".

I'm going nuts here!

I've been part of the forums since Morrowind.

I saw pretty much the same stuff for Oblivion in the first few months of it's existence.

This is pretty much what every forum becomes when a new game is launched, really.

I blame the [censored] generation.

Edit: HA! I can't believe they censor that. It's a website. Notable for it's /b/ section and birthplace of a group of moronic e-thugs who call themselves Anonymous.

If you think this is bad you should have seen the forums when Morrowind and Oblivion were released.

I was there, but there was some legitimacy to that claim.

I'll never forget how much the game was ruined for me when a bandit in full daedric armor and sword charged me. I just stopped and said, "Really?"

The problem with internet forums is, majority of the people initially do not search for them unless they have an issue of some sort which leads to discussion. With out conflicting opinions message forums would die.

They most likely censored that so people can't direct link to there. And if they did that it probably means they've probably had some trouble at some point in the past with people posting links to there. Or did it beforehand to prevent such issues.

Yeah, because nobody ever complained about games before 4 chan came along... :shakehead: You're seriously blaming Anonymous, a group that DDoS' websites (some deservingly so) and trolls idiots on the Internet, for people complaining about video games? Seriously think about that one for a second.

You want to look for someone to blame, blame the Console generation who wants everything dumbed down for them... for double the price of course.

To be honest, it's not as bad as the Oblivion responses. It's clear that most of the complaints boil down to matters of taste (I wish Skyrim had kept X, I wish Skyrim had gotten rid of Y, I wish Skyrim had laser sharks). There are some very real bug complaints, but small in the context of the game's size. Some poor intern is probably tasked with filtering through the forums to find things Beth could reasonably fix. It will calm down as the people who hate the game leave, and the people who love it but are critical manage to get their thoughts in order.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1285452-how-long-until-the-heathen-skyrim-section-is-on-par-with-the-class-of-other-sections/ We're speculating how long the Skyrim section will remain awful until it become a classier place.

Oblivion is better than Skyrim?

Skyrim is amazing... just parts haven't been polished enough... I guess they ran out of time for release on 11/11/11 - Hey, I just realised that the date format works in the UK and US method for once hehe.

there was some legitimacy to that claim.

I don't agree, but either way that would not explain the the bile and rancor, the whining and tantrums here when Morrowind was released. The forums when Morrowind was released were, if anything, a more toxic place than they were when Oblivion was released. I had to stop coming to the forums shortly after Morrowind was released, the constant complaints were ruining my love for the game. The Skyrim forums are a haven of maturity next to the Morrowind forums when that game came out.

I actually find people's critiques of skyrim to be very interesting to read, especially comparisons of all the elder scrolls games. Also if you look past the negativity you can find a lot of positive threads on these forums. Not only these forums but the internet in general seems very positive towards elder scrolls games. Epic moments, roleplayers telling their stories. Good stuff.

Don't feel bad - Bioware's forums went through the same thing when Dragon Age was released. Exact. Same. Thing.

I see this kind of thing on almost every game forum. People are saying Uncharted 3 svcks, Skyward Sword svcks, Arkham City svcks, etc.

To people who say these games svck, you're a complete moron and should just stick with your Modern Warfare and continue buying the same game with minor changes every year with $15 DLC that only have 4 maps.
