Try playing offline and the freezing should lessen.

Whether it helps or not is great, but that advice is a massive say to the level of integrity this game supposedly has.

I have read more PS3 broke/YLOD threads/posts in these Bethesda forums than I have googling when mine had YLOD, a different time.

I can not believe the sheer shocking level that they have left the game to the public, there are people that are having broken hardware whilst not specifically correlating to the crashes of FO console games which is still not exactly untrue; but the fact that the hard resets are making peoples consoles prone to damage.

You are costing the public in the area of £200, for say a new PS3, I'm pretty sure if I done that to all the "hard-working" people down at Bethesda or Obsidian you would be close to assaulting me.

I think people should write amazon reviews. They are read by a lot of people, in contrast to this subforum which probably is read mostly by others who already have bought the game and have the same problem themselves.

Thank-you for this great suggestion. I just did.

I guess I should stop playing for now. I don't really feel like buying another PS3 if this can actually break it, though if i had to buy something new I'd probably buy a XBox at this point.

Get a Wii! I had one before my PS3 and never once did it freeze or glitch or bug out. Nintendo knows how to make a console! Now if they would only make REAL games for it.

I officially had my blu ray drive burn out after a FONV crash, about the 50th I experienced. I always shut down soft rather than hard, too. Had to buy a new drive and all is well, $80 later. Will I play NV? Not on your life, not until it's patched properly. My worst issues are that even though I can get into the Strip with the cowboy hat, I can't do much there anymore. Lags horribly, then freezes while anywhere on the strip and can't get into the Lucky 38 at all.

All I want for Xmas is the patch that lets me finish the game.

Um- since the problems are cross platform, it's hardly seeming that you blame the PS3.

I've played many many games on my PS3 with no crashing/lag/glitches.

I have had freezing on my PS3, but never with the traveling merchants.

As for the weathered 10mm pistol, it's known that it glitches if you add mods to it. I never had because I figured it was a unique weapon and you couldn't mod it. Good thing I didn't try. By the way, the game breaking after adding mods is a known issue... http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Weathered_10mm_pistol (Scroll down to 'Bugs')

To be honest, I have yet to notice problems from this game cause problems with my console and therefore other games. Perhaps restarting the system in safe mode and then running through the diagnostics/upgrades would help?

This game killed my console last night, got hard freeze, then black screen followed by 3 beeps & flashing red light.
Now when i try to turn my PS3 on i get the usual blue green light, followed by single yellow flash & red flashing after.
I'll be getting a new console & i won't playing any Bethesda games on it

Well, what you described is the PS3 version of the Red Ring Of Death.

This can be caused by anything from turning off your PS3 via the back switch and corrupting the OS to hardware failure to anything that would prevent the system's OS from running.

In other words, you bricked it.

I have freezing in Fallout:NV, but I eject the disc and then press the button on the front to do a soft reset to allow the BIOS to take over.

I have not had any serious issues outside of that.

Its really weird. I've had freezing too, but it happens so randomly. For example, last night I was exploring the Hidden Valley and must have had around 4 or 5 freezes in the first hour of playing. After that, it was fine for the next two hours.

And tonight. Tonight I've been playing for almost four hours (and still going!) and not one freeze. Plenty of framerate drops, but I can live with that.

Ok, I jinxed it. Just had my first freeze ten minutes after posting this. One freeze every four hours is something I can live with. I think its a memory issue, since the framerate just crawled along right before it happened.

Also, I've just quoted myself in a new post. Awesome. :)

That happened after soft reset, i don't flick the switch at the back of console.
I fitted the old hard drive hoping it was the OS, or even just a damaged hard drive, but this didn't change a thing, i think it's damage to the board/CPU

Thought I was the only one that had a PS3 die while playing NV.
Older system (80g, MGS4 pack), out of warranty. Had to hard reset MANY times. (never on/off switch. holding power button in front)
Finally died. Replaced the HDD, still dead. Cleaned out some dust, still dead.
Am I blaming Bethesda for killing my 3 (?) year old system? No. But I consider my PS3's death to be suspicious.

Now that I have an in warranty PS3 I'm free to play NV again... as long as I can deal with the bugs/freezing.

It happened again the other day, and in the same place as well. When I fast travel (I'm level 17, and with Cass as a companion) to Westside (Miguel's Pawn Shop, as it happens) the game just crawls along. The framerate drops so dramatically that its unplayable, I just have to sit it out until it responds sufficiently so that I can get out of Westside. As soon as I leave, it goes back to normal again. Also, if I go into ANY house (Miguel's Pawn Shop, Casa Madrid etc) in Westside, Cass will not follow me.

However, its the fast travel to MPS that really hammers to PS3. Actually, if I get close enough to the console, I think I can even hear it crying.
