WITYM Proudly Presents.... The Frontier . (Thread now open for posting Character sheets.)

The frontier is a roleplay based on a mod being developed in Skyrim. In The Frontier; you can either become a leader of one of the several factions competing for control of the land and it's vast sources of Ebony. (So much that all the other ebony sources in Tamriel are nothing in comparison to how much the Frontier has.) Or you can become an average citizen trying to make a living on the land. Point is, you can do or be anything you want as long as it doesn't break the rules or the lore of the Elder Scrolls series.

The Timeline is 4E197. 4 years before the events of Skyrim.

The Terrain.

Spoiler
The Frontier Continent will have several types of climate zones.

The south of the continent will be dominated by lush temperate zones with green trees and bushes, small streams cutting through the landscape. Most of it will be flat with rolling hills breaking and it will all be green and picturesque, sunny and mostly clear weather dominating. Most of this land is dominated by the Imperial Colony of Anvil Nova. It is perfect farmland, and as such will be dotted by farms, mills and villages. Pastures and meadows. It will all be made to feel like something out of a postcard from Yorkshire. For this, i will need green oak and other tree resources.

The Mountaneous regions will take inspiration from Norway. The very east of the island will also have a region where fjords dominate the landscape and there will be steep cliffs falling right into the cold ocean in those parts.

The Hot Springs areas in the very north west will be significant in that they are the home of an entire civilization. An ancient Breton kingdom dominates these parts. The hot springs region will have special trees and flora, for which modder’s resources will be chosen. Inspiration will come from the swampy areas of Morrowind. Hills and mountains will break the region as well, and on top of these, the Breton build their installations, castles and cities.

The great, unending, icy forests of the Continent will be focus. These can be built with the vanilla pinetrees and inspiration will be take from my own homeland in that respect, since I only have to step out of the door here to see what ancient, untouched, deep northern woods look like. The deep woods of frontier will be made to seem ancient, mysterious and fairy-tale-like. They will be filled with creatures and they wil also provide the protective homes to the native tribes living there. Darkness rules, and in the very north, the ground and trees are snowy and icy.

?Now there are many factions in the Frontier. Most are fighting for control of the land. The following will be information of the factions.

The Colony

Spoiler
size: Taking very clear inspirations from the Roman colonization of Britain as well as the British colonization of America, of course, The Colony sits safely perched on the southern shores of The Frontier. It ecasulates the most fertile and beautiful lands in the south, which it has acquired gradually through warfare and trickery, pushing out the Nord and Orc tribes that used to inhabit them. The Colony was founded 200 years ago, just after the Oblivion Crisis.

The capital, Anvil Nova, is a great city in Tamrielic standards, ruled by a Governor. This governor is a corrupt fellow who sells off lands and titles to anyone who will pay to fill his own coffers. In this way, the Aldmeri Dominon has bought a foothold on the Frontier.

All the baronies outside the Colony Proper are called shires. There are Bentonshire, Tyrrhashire, Lindumshire, Vestrashire and Carnarshire. The island of Godfrey is detached as a holy site to the Goddess Dibella. All shires have central villages or small towns.

The colony builds its fledgling colony on farming and trading in often questionable goods. Therefore, the harbour part of Anvil Nova is, to say the least, shady. There is an inofficial sanctioninng of piracy. Recently mining for “Dircinium” has begun, and this ore is specific to the continent, making it immensely valuable to export. Slavery is also allowed int he colony, although Imperial bans, but anything goes as long as the governor fills his royal

The governor lives in a grand palace in Anvil Nova and has an entire court around him. His title may not be, but his lifestyle is royal. It is his aim to finally join the colony with the rest of the Empire, but the Imperial observers are suspicious. That is why the Colony recently has been getting closer ties to the Aldmeri Dominion. The Colony is protected militarily by a strong guard, uniformed and deployed pretty much as an Imperial Legion.

There are a number of Native Nations on the continent.

The Orcish Tribe
Spoiler
The Orcish Nation is a federation of clans, inhabiting small stone forts in the north-west of the continent. They are at constant war with the Nord Nation but also harrass the Colony. The clans have no central leadership, so they sometimes fight between themselves as well. Their culture is dominated by honour, warrior codes and they base their fighting exclusively on the use of cold, hard steel.

The Nordic Tribe.
Spoiler
Think Forsworn. Nomadic and barbaric warrior society, steeped in war. The Nord Nation is really a confederacy between four tribes, all with a central tribal centre, of which the largest such centre is found to the north. These people will make use of guerilla tactics when fighting in the woods and they are proficient archers and melee combatants. They are at all times at war with the Orcs and sometimes also make raids into colony territory.

The Breton Kingdom

Spoiler
The Fabled Kingdom builds on old traditions and history. They are the last remnants of a once glorious civilization and have now been pushed back into a small part of the continent dominated by hot springs and swampy terrain. On the top of protective cliffs and hills in this inhospitable land, they have created their homes, impressive fairy-tale castles and installations. These people are highly developed. Not even the Nord Nation wants to get into a fight with them, for they protect themselves like fierce beasts with magic and other arcane defensive tactics. They mostly want to be left to themselves.

Dark Elf refugees
Spoiler
When Vvardenfell had its great disaster, the Dark Elves went into exile and diaspora. Some of them came over to The Frontier and founded an unofficial refuge there. They are too few to be any threat to the other nations or the colony and they are mostly left alone on their inhospitable patch of land at the eastern coast. Their settlements are but small fishing villages and hamlets.

There are also other factions that are not native to the Frontier.

The Aldmeri Dominion
Spoiler
The Aldmeri Dominion wants its fair share of the Frontier as well, and they’ve bought an entire island off the coast of The Frontier from the governor. Here, at the monastery of T’Jira, they’ve set up their operations, maintaining that the island and the monastery is a sacred holy place in Aldmeri history and that the operation is peaceful. (If you’ve seen Star Trek, referr to what happened at the monastery of P’Jem to get some insight into what’s really going on.)

(For now these are all the factions but more may be added.)

They hunted everyday and learned to live on what the world offered them. Artoro would never let Erutáron hunt the Big Game animals though. He longed to hunt them. Erutáron considered himself the greatest hunter of all Tamriel and wanted, so desparately to prove it with the pelts of bears, sabre cats and whatever else roamed Tamriel.

Erutáron won every archery contest in his hometown but still had a strong pineing to tackle, what he considered his greatest challenge, and that was Big Game hunting. Artoro was too protective of Erutáron and wanted to stay as safe as possible. He already lost his wife, he could not bear to lose his son or worse, leave his son alone in this world. One day Erutáron left his home and set out alone to hunt the game of his life. If his father wouldn't take him, he would do it alone. He had gone out to the plains he had hunted as a boy and knew once he crossed the river to the south, the hunt would be on. It took him 2 days to reach the river and he crossed it. He wondered what his father was doing and if he would be mad at him. He shook those thoughts and focused on what was truly important, the hunt. he spent 2 more days south of the river and to much dismay, nothing to show for it but some fox skins and a slew of deer meat. No big game here. He decided to head home.

He was about a few hours from home when he first saw the smoke rising above where his village usually sits. The black smoke rose like a tower hundreds of feet in the sky. Erutáron's heart sunk as he raced towards his village, his father? Was he alive? Was he hurt? How could he have been so selfish to leave his father after all he has done for me? He never left me alone, he always kept me safe. Why did I have to leave? These questions circled Erutáron's mind until he reached the village.

He was not ready to see what lay ahead. His whole village lay dead in the streets, murdered by what? How? He started shouting for his father, but no answer. Was there nobody left? He reached his house but not in enough time, there lay Artoro in a puddle of blood with his bow in his hand and a claymore in his back. The whole town was desolated. Nobody was around. He saw a shimmering light off in the distance. It was coming from the woods where he and his friends played as children. He raced t the woods and found 10-12 Bosmer folks huddled in the trees. He recognized them from the village and they explained that the village was attacked by Daedra and that they were able to escape but nobody else survived. They told Erutáron that his father refused to leave his house and come to the woods for safety. He would not come without you they said. "He died waiting for you so that you would be safe."

Erutáron was sick to his stomach and now riddled with even more guilt. He was asked to stay and help rebuild the village with the 12 that survived. He declined and set out towards Skyrim. He could not stay in Valenwood. He needed to get away. He decided to head to Skyrim. Guilt ridden and alone, he set out for a new life. He took his father's elven bow and start a new chapter in a new frontier.

He comes to the frontier to hunt and escape the horrors of his past life in Valenwood.

His father was one of the last Dark Brotherhood Listeners in Cryodiil and his mother was said to be the Grey Fox herself. They lived in Anvil and were quite happy. Figgin’s Grandfather, Alkarian Fordonia, lived during the Oblivion Crisis and had to perform the Purification of the Dark Brotherhood at the time and ascended to Listener as well. He was killed mysteriously by an unknown assassin in his sleep and that paved the way for Vikrim to take control. Rumor has it that it was Vikrim's blade that sent Alkarian to his death, but no proof has ever been proven to be the case.

Things were going well for Vikrim, until Figgin reached the age of 5 years old. Figgin loved Vikrim and aspired to be just like him. When Figgin turned 5, Ileania was savagely [censored] and killed by a band of Imperial Legion Soldiers who caught her stealing cyrodilic brandy from the Legion Barracks in the Imperial City. She had an insatiable appetite for the drink. Upon finding out she was the infamous Grey Fox, they had to set an example of her. After her death, she was hung by the waterfront as a symbol of what the imperials will do to those that broke the law.

Upon hearing the news of his wife's savage death, Vikrim knew he had to avenge her, but feared for Figgin's safety. Since there was no family left in Morrowind and due to their discreet lives they both led,, there was not many options for Figgin. With the demise of the Guild without the Grey Fox, Vikrim left Figgin in the old Cheydinhal Sanctuary in the care of his oldest assassin friend, Ja’Agusta, an Argonian Shadowscale. Vikrim set off for the Imperial City. That would be the last time Figgin saw his father.

Vikrim arrived in the city and found where the men who murdered his wife were through his contact in that city who was with the Dark Brotherhood. However, little did Vikrim know that this informant was arrested earlier that day and sold the brotherhood and his friend out to save his own hide. Vikrim walked right into the trap that was laid for him and he was caught and beheaded under his wife's hanging dead body. At the same time the Sanctuary was raided by Imperial Forces and every member of the Dark Brotherhood was killed. Figgin was placed in an old vampire coffin belonging to Vicente Valtieri until the attacks were over. When Figgin finally came out, they were all dead.

With most of the brotherhood dead and the rest on the run and hunted, the brotherhood was in disarray. Figgin found himself alone and scared and only 5 years old. He took to the sewers of Cyrodiil and learned to survive on his own. He did go and see his dead mother and father in the waterfront but only once, the display was too intense for him. Upon that visit, he heard the name Pelanius Sergitus, a Nord Soldier who was Vikrim’s contact and betrayer, being praised for his actions in bringing down the Dark Brotherhood. That face and name will never leave Figgin’s mind. The Imperials did search for the boy Figgin for quite some time but figured him for dead.

Figgin spent 20 years in the sewers of Cyrodiil. He became an accomplished thief in those years in order to survive. He does not go by his last name at all because of the notoriety of his mother and father. At the age of 25, he would set out for Morrowind to learn more about his heritage. He learned the ways of the Dunmer from an old but wise family friend of Vikrim’s. His name was Clavius Dreth (son of Valen Dreth). Dreth taught Figgin everything about the Chimer and Dunmer and taught him the ways of the Assassin.

Figgin has set out to the Frontier to try and salvage, what if anything is left of the Dark Brotherhood. He looks to build a new sanctuary in rememberance of his father.

It was the winter of the 197th year of the 4th era. Daugon was searching for a particularly rare ingredient in a small cave when out of nowhere a vampire attacked him and sunk his fangs into his neck. Daugon was able to flee before the vampire could finish him off. Daugon ran toward the entrance of the cave but tripped and fell down an old mineshaft and fell unconscious. He awoke hours later to darkness and no sense of where he was or how far he had fallen. With no spell to cure disease in his repertoire, he needed to reach the Arch Mage in time to stop the onset of vampirism. He would spend the next 7 days in that cave and by the time he emerged, he was at stage 4 vampirism and almost dead from the hunger. The poor courier who was wandering by the cave’s entrance that night stood no chance as Daugon drained every ounce of life from the Nord's body. Feeling better Daugon returned to College.

It was almost daybreak by the time he reached the college. He entered the Arch-Mage's quarters and explained what had happened. Two days of test potions and magic trials ended with no cure of the disease. It had already taken full hold of Daugon and there was nothing that the Arch Mage could do to help him. He mentioned a new frontier on the horizon and perhaps he could find some help there. Daugon was distraught with the thought of having to feed on humans for survival. He detested what he had done to that courier and expressed this to the Arch mage. The Arch Mage mentioned a man that comes to the College every month and delivers special ingredients. He could reach out to him and have him bring up some vials of human blood, enough to last him awhile so that Daugon can survive without having to feed. It just so happened that the Arch Mage had some vials in his possession and gave them to Daugon.

Daugon left the next night en route to the Frontier. He was warned by the Arch mage to keep his disease a secret to most he would meet. You never know how people will react to a vampire in their midst. They will not understand his way of life , even if he tried to explain he does not feed on humans. Daugon, once again was on the road looking to start a new life that may lead him to be able to continue his old life back at the college.

Allright. I'm going to make a new OOC thread unless a GM is willing to do it.

Prisoner 6: True, though Danus can keep troops in better control. Jak just did that almost for no reason.

waiting for Magus to post but jak is going to point out he was coming to the defense on an imperial ciziten , that there was plenty of witness to the attack and that nobody in cyrodiil will think he's done wrong for defending a ciziten against the thalmor and Danus isn't "offically" his commander......

along with some stuff about how his family was killed ;)

True, but Danus didn't want the commander thinking he is a bad leader.

Ok, but Plautius is going to have to say that he should've let the guards handle it. He understand the hatred, but he can't allow people with no official power attack people who do (the thalmor have an island, so they are technically colony citizens).

WITYM, whats happening with Protektor Tullius? We haven't seen much of him yet. Is he going to be as incompetent and corrupt as Plautius says, or is he going to be an effective administrator and politician, he just lets his greed in the way? I have mentioned in some of my IC posts that Plautius may be exaggerating slightly, so its up to you to decide the extent of his corruption.

I think we should be a bit of both:

Not as Bad as Plautius has been suggesting but isn't exactly that good either. Overall he's capable enough to do the job and could ready get be a great leader if he puts his mind to it and trains but has let greed run to his head....

That is a good question. And since Anti Scamp. (The maker of the mod) Haven't revealed how corrupt The protektor is. (Hell I don't even know the In-game version of him, I just guessed.) I will do it myself. So I would say that he is still a good man at heart but he just let's the money get in the way. I think that he is still a decent leader and knows what he is doing. He's just easily bribed. So basically like Lewis said.

PS: He will not admit of this corruption and will make a half-ass excuse to justify any of his actions.

PSS: Bacon, I imagine it would take a few days to get to Anvil Nova atleast. So maybe on your way to Anvil Nova, you can post something here and there to pass the time. But by tomorrow RP wise, I will skip a week so you can get to Anvil Nova after today.
