The FY71 is now the best weapon on the game.

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 4:00 am

I managed to pick up this weapon in game and its just ridiculous how powerful this weapon is at close to mid range combat.

First thing I did was a rate of fire test. The FY71s RPM is 550 and it does indeed drop in 3 torso shots which means its maximum damage at least 40.

How does that compare to the other 2 current top tier weapons?

The SCAR:
30 - 25 @ 700RPM
The Feline:
20 - 15 @ 1200RPM
The FY71:
40(+?) - ? @ 550RPM

So what does that translate into when it comes to how fast each weapon drops somebody?

The SCAR:
0.255 - 0.34 seconds
The Feline:
0.25 - 0.35 seconds
The FY71:
0.22 - ? seconds

So if you purchased the latest DLC and suddenly find yourself raping left right and centre with the FY71 dont feel special, you have an advantage over everyone else.

Massive /facepalm at Crytek. I dont know what you guys are thinking but selling overepowered weapons in DLC is just pathetic.

I'm just saying you can't have started moaning on day 1 that the new gun is OP already, Scar is and always will be the best gun in the game, there is nothing more to say here.

Im with hedgehog, paying money for an advantage over other players is paramount to hacking (which incidentally some people pay for). I'd buy the dlc if it didnt have extra weapons in it, this is just the worst possible form of dlc available. Might as well sell wallhacks ea, you **** bastards.

And the SCAR isnt the best weapon anymore, given the spread on the scar (ie it has some), and the spread on the fy (sat there and shot at a wall 50m away, not a single dot of deviation), the fy wins at ranges over 10m, and below that is likely to win anyway as it does pack 25% more damage at least. Judging from kills with it i think it does a tad over 40.

Paying for maps, skins, hats and general cosmetic changes (like the old nanosuit voice), fine with that, but again, anything that disrupts the balance between someone who has the stock game (which isn't cheap), and someone who handed over more money (again not a pifling amount) is just not on. Not to mention it kills any chance a game has of reaching the esports community, or any longevity it might have.

Pretty much proof of EA's viewpoint of crysis2, a quick cash grab that they're milking while crysis3 is in the pipe. Soulless **** suits.

Its not unexpected that some average player is here trying to defend an overpowered weapon with baseless arguments.

EDIT: And I agree this DLC actually hurt the non-DLC community (which is the vast majority). If these douches want to fork out for an overpowered DLC weapon then let them instagib each other with it. Dont force it upon everyone.

How did you do your calculations? "/massive face palm"

On max damage to torso I calculated time to kill someone:

The SCAR:
0.342857143
The Feline:
0.3
The FY71:
0.327272727

I could be wrong but what were your calculations.

All you uber players can just kill these nubs with their superOP 'dirty money' weapon and then take it for yourselves. Epic justice.

Or you could put your hands in your pocket and buy the packs. It's £8, I bet a lot of you spend more than that every time you go to KFC. Personally I think £5 is a more reasonable figure but if people want decent quality games, and on the PC platform, then it's time to spend some money and support PC game development.

Time to kill is calculated by fire time (the delay between each bullet) multiplied by how many shots it needs to kill subtracted by one fire time as the first bullet is instant.

My calculations are actually wrong. The FY71s kill time is actually 0.22 seconds and not 0.24 seconds.

Example for the Feline.

20 damage @ 1200 RPM with a 0.05 second fire time.

20 damage means 6 bullets to score a kill. The fist shot however, as always, is instant. 0.05 seconds x 5 = 0.25 seconds which is how long it takes the Feline to drop somebody with torso shots.

If the first shot wasnt instant then when you press to fire a bullet wouldnt come out until after a delay.

If you want to do it on a calculator then just put in 60 divided by RPM multiplied by # of shots to kill subtracted by 1.

Wow seriously? I bought the 2nd DLC because it is more worth the money than the first one (WHICH I DIDN't BUY), **** hell every company releases DLC and as far as I am concerned Crytek are doing a good job fixing the game and it's pretty much fixed and we have Dx11 comign and sandbox, they are doing a lot of work so why not support them? Seriously? Call of Duty DLC is way more expensive.

Can't you just use the RPM or convert it to rounds per second instead of firetime. In real life I've never used a bullet time stat, i've always used RPM to calculate how many $$$ I am blowing on bullets per second. If you calculate it the way you are, sniper rifle headshots are overpowered because they are instant.

They are instant though, its not like it takes 0.105 seconds to kill someone with a Gauss headshot. Whether you use rounds per minute or rounds per second you still have to convert it into fire time to work out how long it takes a weapon to kill.

There are still a lot of statistics you aren't considering. Statistics like armor penetration, or like bullet drop off, recoil, random spread, and weight. You can't claim a weapon is a the best by finding out it's damage/min comparing it to the life of every player because so many variables go into every dog fight.

The weapon is already literally superior to the Feline with what stats can be confirmed. Of course complete comparisons cannot be made until more stats are ripped from the games files as you have said but as for early impressions this weapon is easily top tier.

The gun is fairly balanced in my opinion. It only has 30(36) rounds and fires really slow. If you miss your target in cqc, you are very susceptible against high rof guns like the feline. The Scar seems to be equal with its higher rof.

I'd classify it as a mid to long range rifle, using careful bursts is deadly. in close range, you get severly punished for missing shots, also guns like the Jackal feel superior for short range engagements
