It's sad to see a game like this be called dead by all my friends, so IS it dead?

No way man, people who say it's dead have not experienced the game in high def or even scratched the surface of finding all of the secrets within the game. The Elder Scrolls will never die to me.

Wow great minds think a like yeah try playing oblivion on a 55" LED thats like taking a [censored] on Morrowind's Graphics :) but besides the graphics theres a lot more secrets, i have found most of them but i can just feel it that there is hundreds out there im just wondering if there is a secret passage way to the testing hall for Xbox 360 w/o using mods and stuff :P

If the game is almost dead, why are the people on this board still playing it? It's not exactly a ghost town around here. Did someone forget to tell us? Should I stop downloading mods? Delete my saves? And the CS? Toss my discs? :(
Most games come and go, but a few are practically endless. I'll be playing Oblivion years after nearly everyone else has quit. That's how I roll.

Looks at these boards, Oblivion is far from dead. Even morrowind still has a community behind it, and I know some people who still play daggerfall. Elder scrolls games never die :D

I have never played two games more replayable that seem to be endless with possibilities than Morrowind and Oblivion. These games will never die.

Oblivion isn't dead, and I will consider Oblivion my main game until TES V comes out. After TES V comes out, it will be my main game, but even then, Oblivion will not be dead to me, and I'm still playing the ps3 version. Once I get a decent PC, I'll be able to use mods and Oblivion will truly be endless. Even without mods, it is far from dead.

If not, Morrowind can tide you over until TES V. I bet your current computer could even run it.

Never mind, miss read it. Over-all TES games will be the best. Throw FO3 in it too.

Oblivion won't die til my rig can run the Battle of Bruma
Spoiler
and the final battle in Imperial City
without dropping below 30fps. Which means Oblivion will never die. :banghead:

Thanks to Bethesda's awesome and expandable platform, and the best modding community I've ever seen, I've done three different versions of my main archer without getting bored. Add to that my mage, thief, and druid alts, as well as some ideas for characters I've barely begun, and I could be at this game for a while. I actually dread the coming of TESV- I doubt I'll be done with my Oblivion plans before it debuts, and I doubt my machine will be able to run it. And yet I'll still probably end up buying it and getting addicted.

Elder Scrolls games are for life!

I don't have a computer. The one I used is currently broken, but it didn't have a disk drive and it wasn't capable of running Morrowind. If it gets replaced, it will be replaced with the same exact model, so I can't and never have been able to play the PC version of Morrowind, and I've never even owned a computer. I was using the computer that the hospital my mom works at gives her to use for work. I have the Xbox version of Morrowind and an original Xbox, but I prefer Oblivion. It's large enough to last until TES V is released. I'm using my ps3 to type this.

that's nothing. The display might be nice but the 360's graphics are nothing... try playing on a 22" Samsung LED computer monitor with 2560x1600 resolution with graphics enhancing mods and everything on ultra high

Exactly! :goodjob:
As long as there are mods, Oblivion will continue to live.

Simply look at Morrowind's community still standing strong, or any other older game community that release mods and add-ons.

Even without mods, Oblivion will continue to live. Oblivion's role-playing potential is great. The replayability, size, and role-playing potential of Oblivion are great enough to keep Oblivion alive for years, unmodded.

Do your friends post over in the mods forum? Because if not, perhaps you should check over there on the activity.

I thought you didn't agree with mods, seti? :P

On topic: Oblivion will never die to me. In fact, Elder Scrolls won't die. I love the world so much that I get immersed and want to keep playing. Your friends probably don't RP and only do quests - not that that's wrong, but it does limit replayability if the game's only played that way.

I agree that they are nice and I want to make some mods myself, but I believe Oblivion is perfectly fine without mods. However, I really want to use mods. I've heard some really good things about them.

Ah, very good. I really want mods, too. But I've got to wait until the summer to get my gaming PC. XD

I do agree with you that Oblivion if perfectly fine without mods, though. How else would we still be playing more than two years since its release. ;)

Morrowind was released in 2002 and it's not dead either. The modding community, though a little smaller than Oblivion's at this point, keeps it very much alive.

So Oblivion is far from dead.

I'm not going to be able to get a decent PC in the near future, but I did just get an HDTV, and Oblivion has never looked as good as it does now to me.
