The games that make you nostalgic

I find that the games I feel most nostalgic over are the ones where I've shared the experience with others (namely friends/siblings), whether by playing together in co-op (e.g. Halo) or watching each other play a single-player game (e.g. Oblivion). Oddly enough, when I feel sad or depressed I often dredge up these old, fond memories of the times spent playing games with my friends/siblings to help cheer me up...

Anyhow, these are some of the games I feel most nostalgic over:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Half Life 2 (Single player and co-op using synergy)
  • World of Warcraft
  • Goldeneye 64
  • Halo: Combat Evolved
  • Halo 3
  • Fallout 3
  • Thief Gold
  • TES IV: Oblivion
  • Portal 1 & 2
  • Mario 64

I'll probably think of more later!

So, which games do you guys get all nostalgic over? Also, if you don't mind, could you explain why you find them nostalgic (just interested )

Ultima Online

It was my third MMO (Gemstone, and Pool of Radiance came before that), but the one that made me feel like part of a group. Most of my fiends played it at the time and a few had multiple computers in their house so we'd spend the whole weekend and every moment we weren't working sitting in the same room playing a game (this was before team speak and such, at least to my memory). In some ways I think UO got a lot of things right that games even today can't or don't do, from the crafting system, death penalty, pvp balance. In some ways it was the most difficult game to start but was rewarding once you got your character decent stats and equipment. But no matter how tough you where there was always a challenge and if you didn't feel like fighting there was always something else to do. At least in the early days, once they really started adding new lands and trying in desperation to be more like WoW the game fell apart in my eyes. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking WoW, if fact I spent several years having fun playing WoW, but somehow I'm always nostalgic when I think about UO.
