Congratulations to everyone who finished their map, and what fine maps they are.

Server:
The servers name is:
The Solid Challenge Server
Currently: Offline

It is not dedicated(I am running the server off my PC) so it won't be online all the time, its status can be seen in this post. But if there is someone who wishes to run the map pack on their server please do tell, you would be doing us a huge favour, and I would be very grateful.

Finally here are the contestants, in order of submission:
The Pyramide by Post-Human-Warrior3

Image

Description
This map consists of a huge pyramide with internal and external vertical gameplay. There is also a surrounding area with stone blocks that can be used as cover. The map has a dark and stormy atmosphere, including wind, rain and lightning. The inside of the pyramide can be accessed via one top and two ground entrances. The only lightsources are torches and the moon.

"Infantry Assault" by "Mitrion"

Description: small-sized map located inside a building with some hallways and vertical gameplay as well, the middle structure provides a good place for tagging/sniping and fast movement between both sides of the building. It supports IA and TIA and its designed for 8 to 16 players(12 players ideally)

PD: Since i just finished the map and theres little time left i couldn′t test if the map works properly in MP though i followed the official documentation steps, if i made any mistake i would appreciate if you could fix it, thanks.
PD2: if you like this map please give me some feedback about what you like/dislike/want so i know if i spend more time improving this (outside of this contest) by adding other game modes, vegetation, more and higher quality props, making it bigger, etc

Map
Desert Combat by SonicTheHedgeTrimmer

Image

Description
A small/medium sized map set in a desert town. There's a few interesting spots for different gameplay opportunities. One being a container yard where you can verticly manoeuvre the containers. There's a few good vantage points for snipers like the mansions attic, the roof of the gun shop or any other various building roofs.

Around the map you'll find hidden weapons in various specially chosen spots. You may want to look beyond the town walls for something and also check out what's with the round-abouts pools ;D

I would have liked to take off custom loadouts and make the weapons in the map re-spawn after a certain time...but I have no idea how lol. Maybe when I do figure out how I'll add it in and re-upload it with other additions/fixes.

It supports IA and TIA and is designed for 6 to 12 players.

Note by AtsEst: You will need cw2_steelmill for all the textures to display properly

There is an additional map in the map pack that is made by me, originally for the contest, but it is not a part of the voting, because it would be unethical of me to take part as a contestant(as pointed out in the original thread). And thus the map is just an extra. Any feeback on it should be posted in the orignal thread, not here.

If you have any comments, feedback or anything else you would like to say then feel free to post it.

I have 1680x1050 and they are still cut off, just right click and open them in the new tab to view them.

And damn, I should visit crymod forum more often, I definitely would have wanted to participate in this :(

not trying to offend anyone here, but, the maps are quite simple and visually unappealing? :s

The editor has a solid function, like normal modelling just not as advanced, where you create things from scratch out of simple polygons instead of using prefabs etc.

Probably because they were limited to solids for this competition, and a short time frame, and that's also why it takes a lot of effort and ambition to actually make a decent custom map, most will never measure up to Crytek's imo lol, so some of these are pretty good for what it's worth.

Solids are pretty much what Interceptor88 said,if you would like to know more about them take a look at the Wiki: http://www.crymod.com/wiki/index.php/Solid_Tool

They may look somewhat oldschool, but they play quite well and considering the timeframe and ambition of the designs are nicely composed. Have a small playthrough and see if it changes your mind a bit :)

With time for the voting over and the challenge as well, the winner for both the level design and visuals is:

Mitrion
and his map
Infantry Assault

You are the beholder of great pride and glory, may it treat you well and bring you many opportunities, who knows maybe even a bride of your choice.

Again I would like to thank all of you for taking part in the challenge , I had loads of fun and I hope so did you. All of you have talent to make great things happen and I expect nothing less going forward.
