The ghoul kid (spoilers ahead)

So I came across this house while exploring around outside Boston when I hear this child's voice "Someone help, get me out of this thing!" so I explored around the destroyed house and found a fridge. To my surprise was a little ghoul boy inside of it. Apparently he ducked in there when the big one fell 210 years ago.

Poor kid. he was inside that fridge by himself, suspended in some sort of radioactive immortality. No need for food and apparently air. I can't even imagine what that had to do to his sanity. But he seemed fine enough so I decided to help him find what was left of his home.

Wow... was that entertaining. Apparently the Gunners dislike anyone trying to return a lost ghoul child to his home. They came out in force with mini nukes, gatling guns and missile launchers. It took Piper and I about 40 mins or so to clear all those bastards out.

Then some dude comes up named Bullet and asks if the kid was for sale. WTF? Hell no. I told him to shove off.

Anyway warm feelings all around to find the little boy's ghoulish parents still at home and waiting for him. Awww. But then those damn Gunners came back.

So Bullet bit the buttel... a .50cal right to the head from my trusty rifle. Piper and I killed the last of the Gunners that came with him. Sure was entertaining.

But I can't help but wonder how a kid survived with his sanity locked in a fridge for 210 years. And how I happened to be the only one in 210 years that heard his cries for help. Plot hole maybe? Anyway. I thought it was a cool little quest.

We see that Ghouls go into hibernation in Fallout 4.

They lay on the ground until disturbed.

Presumably, Ghoul Boy went to sleep and woke up when something disturbed him passing by.

that would explain how his sanity is mostly intact

I don't think bethesda thinks much through though, they just do what they want

The funny part about this quest for me was I encountered Bullet before the fridge and he wouldn't talk but also wouldn't shoot at me so I just blasted him assuming him to be a named gunner who was glitches and being passive.

Bullet's logic is flawed I will say that. To much jet or something. Here I go blasting a bloody explosive swath through the Gunner ranks, killing many high lv officials in power armor suits. All to protect a little boy I just found while trying to get him to a home I suspected was going to be gone. I fully thought this was going to be another Fallout 3 Greyditch(?) situation and end up taking him home and then having to find him a new one.

So after the bloody mess, Bullet assumes I'll gladly sell the kid for a few caps? WTF? I just used up probably several thousand caps worth of ammo and you think I'll just sell the kid for a couple hundred?

If I didn't care for the kid I wouldn't have killed everyone while trying to protect him and get him home. My only regret in killing Bullet is I used my .50cal at close range. One shot and his head was in pieces. I should have used my handgun and pumped him full of lead for his stupidity.

I think you were supposed to meet Bullet first.

When I played through he came running up a couple seconds after I let the kid out and asked to buy him. Then when I was attacked Bullet was there and yelled something about how I should have just sold him
