The giant seam lin ethat runs down toheo middle of Argonian

Post » Thu Aug 25, 2011 7:20 pm

What's the deal with this? It's REALLY noticeable to me, and distracting. It's one of the things holding me back from trying one out, it just looks like they slapped a mirrored side to one another and left the seam in place instead of fixing it up.

How hard would it be to have the head without that noticable huge line running down the middle? At least as an option if someone wants it or not, but to me it's annoying...

I agree with you. The modellers/animators seam to be lacking in several significant areas.

uh...what? the "seam" is clearly an intentional stylistic decision.

Bah, they're doing great.

I'm just not seeing the extreme mind-boggling talent that I see in other studios :shakehead:.

They're good. But they're not [censored]ing awesome.

Hmmmmm.... Actually they are [censored]ing awesome. BUT THEY COULD BE AWESOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I won't be satisfied until I see photoreal quality, trillions of polygons. I don't care if the game can't handle it, I WANNA SEE THE HIGH-POLY RENDERS.

That ridge down the middle? That's intentional.

Even though I know it's supposed to be there I still think it's dam ugly. Btw do some of the "lines" pushed downwards into the face while some rise out of the face? (like tgl's)

You have a seam-line running right through your face as well. Feel the ceiling of your mouth with your tongue, what do you think that ridge towards the back is? And the little spot between your nose and your lips as well.

Generally, most creatures exhibit bilateral symmetry in their body design. Even things like placement of scales and feathers are almost always mirrored in that exact fashion -- that's just how nature rolls. :disguise:

If the modelers/designers were using real-world examples of reptilian species, this result doesn't surprise me one bit, and I find it to look completely natural.

Edit: Syntax and the like, it's getting late.

Doesn't make it any less ugly and distracting. I like the general design of the Argonians, but the first time I saw one, it looked like they had mouth that split four ways.

Thats intentional I would believe. My only dissapointment is that female beasts have longer necks then Giraffes!

It's just part of their scales. Are you just annoyed at how symmetrical it is?

Plenty of reptiles have symmetrical lines on their faces.

You are absolutely correct but these 'seams' on the real individual are only present in certain areas. It just so happens that those two areas are places that 'meet' together and fuse during embryonic development.

Skin-wise, however, there should be no seams visible down the centre of the face. The skin does not develop in separate halves and then 'fuse' together in the middle. If you look at someone's face you will not be able to see a thick visible line running down the middle. Try looking at your own face.
