The giant that bugged me

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 9:58 am

I really got bugged about that giant that got lifted off the ground by the dragon in the demo clip, what I mean is it had no realistic movements such as flailing arms and such, he just bended back his legs and fell, you would think that you would be swinging your arms like a mad thing not like that giant that looked like he was enjoying the view or saying to himself " I think I can see my house from here" also I would like them to have random clothing on each one, in fact all enemies could use that feature, is this such a hard code to create? maybe it is I don’t know anything about code.

At least he didnt look like a Lemming when he fell........

I didnt mind so much. That a dragon could do that in the first place was more exciting. I just hope there is a jump animation that doesnt resemble Super Marios Brothers 3 on SNES.

Are you sure the Giant was killed? If one bite was all it took to take down a Giant then much less would be required to kill a human sized creature. Does this mean that one bite and it's over for the Dragonborn? I don't mind this, I just hope there will be a realistic defense to a Dragons bite.

I don't think that making anything that the dragons lift have a panicked state would be so bad an idea, I am looking at the clip again and I can see it looking better if it had an animation to that effect. I mean why not right? The fall alone could kill most things so why not utilize the dramatic scene.

Do you forget when Todd (in god mode) flamed the giant? ;)

The giant was dead, and rag-dolled appropriately. If the giant was rolling down some stairs, you would have noticed the ragdoll more, but it was certainly there.

I'm not sure. Just because the Giant Ragdolled doesn't mean it was dead, it could have gotten up and limped away.

That is bugging me too lol. But I hope dragons can even do that in the game. I mean pick up things, because in the Oblivion E3 Demo, Todd Lied about alot of stuff involving NPCS.

Him being dead does not mean that his arms shouldn't be moving independently from his body.

he was low on health, when the dragon grabbed him his health bar disappeared, he died, he stopped living, he expired, he kicked the bucket, he bought the big one, etc etc etc...

for me the animation in that scene was amazing up to that point, the mammoths moved so well so did the giants when they remain on the ground  so i was just thinking that it would be perfect to have that tiny detail added, so you still don't care for it? take another look at the scene i was talking about and let us know.

Hm, I suppose I'll repeat myself just for kicks. Him being dead does not mean that his arms shouldn't be moving independently from his body. A completely limp body dropped like that would have its arms raised out and lifted slightly due to air resistance.

If the giant was alive, then it should have been flailing when the dragon's talons grabbed him. I'm hoping and assuming that Bethesda would realize it looks stupid for someone to not react to being grabbed. The fact the giant was motionless leads me to believe the talons killed the giant immediately (after the health had been deteriorated by Todd's fire ball).

Does that equate to arms flailing around like a Halo fall animation?

Bethesda doesn't spend a lot of time on realistic physics. :cryvaultboy: :sadvaultboy:
