Is the Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

Post » Tue Oct 12, 2010 11:19 am

But then it's not really your place to "deem" a post off topic, is it?

Common sense did most of the deeming for me.

At any rate, my post wasn't intended to be an attempt to criticize the direction this thread went in, but more of a "BSF, you so crazy" type of post. If it was intended to be a serious post the tone would have been serious.

I must admit that I never understood this question. The two statements are not exclusive so what kind of idiot thinks that a glass is half full while not being half empty or vice versa? How can it be half full without being half empty or vice versa? In order for it to be half full the other half needs to be empty (or vice versa), so not only are the two statements not mutually exclusive, they directly imply each other.

You're making it too literal.

Yeah, I get that a lot.

that's how i've always seen it.

The glass is a lie

The glass is broken

The glass is a dribble cup

There is no glass

Pick one.... :flamethrower:

Why be worried about it being half full or half empty when you can just go to the kitchen and get more?

It's easier to be negative than positive, because this way you dn't get disapointed then. If you are always postive but something negative happens, they you get disapointed. If you think negative but something positive happens then you feel better and not get disapointed.

A good example is when I applied for the last few jobs. Before I was so negative thinking that nobody will call back, I don't get dispapointed. Last 2 resumes I handed in, I got no call back. I was so positvie and sure I would at least get a call for an interview, and not it hasn't happend, I am very disapointed now.

So I find it easier to be a neagitve person than a positve person. I use to be so positive, but with all the negativity happening in my life as of late I have become a negative person. I just hate being disapointed all the time, I find it easier to be negative than more postitive.

Hope this makes sense. :)

There is no glass,

Nor is there water that can be contained within,

An ocean churning,

That is all.

This has been said before. It was bad when it was said the first time, it's even worse that it was said the second time.

I don't see this as funny. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but what is it ment to mean that it's full of piss?

English doesn't really "evolve" it's just people can't speak the language properly. I don't mean for people who have English as not thier primary language but for people who English is thier only language.

I find it pretty bad that the Dictionary now has ain't in the book now. I was always taught there is no such word but because so many people refuse to learn properly now its official. So it doesn't evolve, but it's just plain simple laziness of people and culture.
that and, as one of the dictionaries or some book put it, "linguistic promiscuity".

Then you should burn down your local barbershop. And then throw lemons (or melons if you're dyslexic) at the rubble/ruins.

To me it depends. If you filled it up, and then drank half, it's half empty, but if you only filled it half way, then it's only half full.
