Is the Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:40 am

Read up on virtual particles and quantum foam.
If I do that, you'll have me drinking again in no time.. especially anything sounding as froody as Quantum Foam ..sounds dirty :hubbahubba:

I'll wait for the movie :)

I mentioned somewhere that I really needs to get out more, didn't I? :ermm:

I come into this thread about world views and I find a discussion on quantum physics. BGSF is an interesting place.

Actually, in that "empty" space in-between the electrons and the nuclei and in-between the atoms and molecules themselves particle/antiparticle pairs constantly appear and annihilate each other as well. Read up on virtual particles and quantum foam.

Hehe...you're taking me way too literally. My point was that there's no such thing as "empty," "full," "half-empty," "half-full," etc. You can decide how you want to look at anything...and then come back later and change your mind. :)

The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Also, I ordered a cheeseburger.

EDIT: heehee:
"The Glass: half full of atmosphere"
"The Glass: Were you going to finish that?"
"the Glass: Mostly empty space"

gotta love http://www.printfection.com/retro-future/Retropolis-T-Shirts-Page-4/_s_285337.

Well if that's the case then have I taken you too literally, or not literally enough?

That depends on how specific you want to get, doesn't it? It can be half full... of water. Of orange juice. Of monkey earwax. It just can't ever be totally empty anything.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it's all just matrix.

I don't know... am I? I'm pretty sure that there isn't orange juice in my glass when there isn't.

Interesting theory.

Well I suppose that it could be invisible, but who knows? I'm just going to assume that my sense of perception is correct, and not some kind of false reality set up my our minds to cope with this insane, insane universe.

Some scientists seem to think that every universe could be inside of another universes black hole. So we could be living in a black hole within a black and we'd never know.

Could be. Scientists are alien reptiles in disguise, though, so I wouldn't trust them 100%. Definitely don't leave your glass unattended around them unless it's empty. Which it isn't. :ninja:

I have no idea what the hell happened through the last couple of pages, but this thread has become a wonderful glass-half-full-of-cocktail party.

Veeno is always right about the particles.

For a nickel.

Spoiler
Whether that fits (or is funny) or not, its what popped into my head when I read the post. If one of Veeno's names happens to be Mike, then it definitely fits :P.

I broke the glass and cut my wrists on the shattered pieces then wrote a song about it.

it's called... "I broke the glass and cut my wrists on the shattered pieces"

on a serious note, I take life as it comes and will look at it however I please. If I look at the glass half full all the time, well then I don't feel human. Everyone has more then likely looked at the glass half empty at some part of their life no matter how dire the situation is. We as human beings will feel miserable at times. It is just normal. That doesn't mean I always look at the glass half empty, it just means at some points it seems like it. Then at other points it feels half full. and no I'm not bipolar... I hope...

logically I say that depending on the situatuion I.e if you're filling a glass and it reaches the half way mark it is half full... if you are in the process of emptying it (drinking it) it is half empty

philosophically i believe it is half empty because i am a pessimist

Isn't it just alot easier to say:

sometimes in life you're the windshield..

..and other times you're the bug.

Still, would you rather be wiping your face off, or being wiped off of someone's face?
