The Great Houses of Morrowind? In Skyrim?

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:50 pm

So if any of you haven't read Lord of Souls, and not to spoil much, but it seems that after the Red year (The whole Ministry of truth falling, destroying the city of Vivec, Red mountain erupts, Morrowind destroyed) The great houses of Morrowind Relocated along with other refugees into Skyrim, and more or less set up shop.

Now some Dunmer don't follow them anymore (do to the fact they weren't able to stop/prevent the destruction of Morrowind), but that's not the point, The point is what is the likelihood that the houses reappear in Skyrim and might be join able?

.....Also hooray, first topic post! Yay me!~

Wow... I did not know that. I guess it would be pretty high if they're located in Skyrim now. I wonder if Telvanni will be coming back... if so, I wonder if they're infamous Telvanni Bug Musk will be coming with them? XD

Kinda hard being immortal after the source of immortality is gone.

Also there was a possible Neveraine, an Oblivion crisis and I doubt that Ministry of Truth was held by the "power of faith".

But maybe not so hard for Vehk/Vivec himself.

Actually after he disappeared, they constructed the Ingenium, powered by living souls, to keep the ministry aloft. but then one Dunmer named Ilzheven was chosen to power the machine, her lover Ezhmaar, also known as Sul destroyed the machine to save her life. The plan backfired, however, and well the red year happened.

So I could murder him to repay his arrogance? As far as I'm concerned he, and to some degree Indoril Nerevar are both to blame for the Red Year. I mean, just look at this quote from Sermon 33.

When Nerevar returned, he saw the frozen comet above his lord's city. He asked whether or not Vivec wanted it removed.
'I would have done so myself if I wanted, silly Hortator. I shall keep it there with its last intention intact, so that if the love of the people of this city for me ever disappear, so shall the power that holds back their destruction.'
Nerevar said, 'Love is under your will only.'
Vivec smiled and told the Hortator that he had become a Minister of Truth.

To me that reads: "If they ever stop loving me or lose faith, they will be destroyed. I will keep this here as a reminder of that possible fate."

Vivec somewhat came to his senses at the end of Morrowind, but he still could have used his remaining power to destroy Lie Rock. But he did not, and for that I, and my Dunmer condemn him and the Tribunal false-gods.

All that being said, the turn-of-events that was the Red Year was pretty awesome in my opinion from a story perspective and gave more creedence to my anti-tribunal Dunmer. He believed the Temple and most of its people did good, but he refused to place his faith in Usurpers of god-hood.

My Dunmer has found peace, but I don't know if he would be able to sustain that if he ever encountered Vivec. At the very least some serious questioning would go down.

The Telvanni must find Skyrim terrible. They can't make liveable mushroom towers anymore with levitation being gone...

Vivec has obtained CHIM, and no longer needs the heart to be immortal.

EDIT!: And oh, how I would love for him to return. I doubt he will, but I am a Vivec fanatic.

I was playing oblivion the other day and I was in a city(forget which one) and NPC said to another "I heard the nords of skyrim are trying to break up the great houses of morrowind" not sure what that means but it would be great to see them return.

Yeah if you seen my Dunmer thread (Sig) a lot of us are hoping for a return of the Great Houses. I'd hope they'd be joinable but if not it still be nice just to see what status they're in.
