Do the Great Khans deserve to be a major faction?

Post » Tue Jul 02, 2013 10:36 pm

Going off of Colonel Martyr's thread, I think this question right here is about as relevant as which New Vegas ending is canon. It's clear from New Vegas that the potential for the Great Khans to become a major faction IS there, the question is only if that ending will become canon.

So simply to clarify, who'd be for the Great Khans building an empire up in Idaho/Wyoming? I'd love it, cause wtf there's plenty of potential for war if we have the NCR, Legion, Great Khans and BoS (admittedly not at all a nation or major faction, but constantly a present threat) all within the core region.

I think they have a huge amount of potential, and a lot of charm and history. They'd be a great faction to see evolve into a major player. Not NCR size, but someone to contend with at least. They have a penchant for being tough to kill and enough tenacity they could found their own empire, not a proper one but one financed by their drug trade and strict enforcers.

I could see them carve out a niche, run out the tribals to the north and settle down.

That be cool if they did go to Wyoming and got their [censored] together. Maybe they'd have an uneasy truse with the NCR and would be at odds with the Legion for bailing on them during the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam.

I would have loved to see them as one of the competing factions in NV. They may have been drug dealers, but there was a whole lot more to them from the bits of info the chief was willing to divulge.(If I recall you can convince them to start making medical supplies instead too.) A way to bring em back to their roots without them rushing off to suicide or gone forever would've been nice.

Considering which faction their named out of, I think they should get horses, or steel horses (motorcycles).

Imagine: Drugged up warriors, riding motorcycles, and shooting people.

As I want humanity to progress and move forward and it's been 204+ years I think it's about time that countries(?) are established with their own cultures, laws, ideologies, morals and design so I'd love for the Great Khans to become a major power, it's also a very interesting evolution for their faction to go from a rag-tag group of raiders into a tribe with their own culture of sorts into a freaking empire.

So yes, they deserve it, they've had their hardships and suffered many times over for the bad things they've done so I think they deserve a break to become something grander. And since they did form this empire with the FotA I think that could be a very interesting change in their culture.

They would have made a good main faction before NV but I'm not sure there is a place for them in modern fallout . They are very 'native American' like which would have been cool to play out in the 'old west' of fallout but the railroad is coming and there ways will die

So far I'm the only one who likes their running gag of nearly getting wiped out but somehow surviving. :sadvaultboy:

As far as what might be canon goes, I don't think they will ever be a major faction. I don't see the writers choosing the super peaceful diplomacy approach in any scenario. I hasn't happened before in the other Fallout games, so I don't see how it could happen for this game. It's an interesting idea. But I much prefer exploring new types of people and factions in the different locations.

The problem is they need time and space to grow into something bigger and more worthy without losing what they are. The NCR and legion will never let them live in peace so they will need the strength to resist one or both or to be out of there reach for atleast 20 - 30 years
