The greatest moment? I wouldn't attribute any one video game to that, no, instead I would say perhaps the introduction of the NES. Yes, the Atari came before it, but I adamantly believe that it was because of the NES that video games are what they are today. None of the great games we have today could be possible without the prod that NES gave the video gaming world in the 80's.
After that, I'd say the PSone. While I"m not sure if it was the first system to use CDs instead of cartridges, it is the FIRST to use them successfully thus forever changing the course of video games by increasing the size of them, the complexity of them, or, in the case of smaller games(like fighting games), the graphical intensity of them.
If it weren't for those two moments in Video Gaming history, there is a good chance that gaming would have gone the way of other "fads" in the 70's.
