The Green Pact and crafting arrows (Bosmers)

Post » Sat Dec 07, 2013 7:25 am

I'm currently RPing a Bosmer 'Bosmer' if you get my meaning and I'm wondering about the use of living materials or more to the point - wood. Can my Bosmer chop wood and craft arrows?

I'm assuming I can as the wood located next to the blocks isn't considered to be living, but there again I'm kinda confused with the "Wood Elves are not allowed to use wood or any other plant materials for construction".

Is the construction part merely referring to furniture etc or does that include weapons too?

The green pact and stuff happens in Valenwood. It does not have to be followed outside Valenwood.

The Green Pact is in force only in Valenwood. They aren't allowed to harm plants in their homeland (at all, for any reason). But they can import wood from other provinces, so it's okay for your Bosmer to use materials found in Skyrim.

I always thought you weren't allowed to use green alchemy ingredients, but I'm sure some of the good folk here that are more in tune with the green pact will chime in. I'm curious as well.

Yes, you can chop wood and craft arrows if you have the right materials. You are a stranger in a foreign land and must adapt to the land / people customs.

If it bothers your Bosmer to use wood then there's always Bound Bow ;)

Thanks for all the responses folks, they're appreciated!

I'm 99% sure I read somewhere that almost every Bosmer still abides by those principles/laws no matter where they are. That the only real difference being is that Valenwood (living) timber is considered more sacred thus incurs heavier punishments if found violating the Green Pact, but all living trees and greenery are considered sacred to some extent, again, no matter where you may be. I know they're allowed to import timer from elsewhere to build dwellings, however, from what I recall they're still forbidden from cutting down the trees themselves. Then there's the whole thing about not being allowed to craft items from fallen timber too.

There's every chance that I could be wrong and you are indeed correct.

Not using magic at all, so that's gonna be a non starter.

The green pact only applies to Valenwood's trees & plants. Bosmer do not care about importing/cutting down foreign trees. Also, you should try to think a bit more (no offence, as most people don't really care about the lore) because if they didn't use foreign wood, how would they be "the most skilled archers in all of tamriel"

Something I skimped on as i didn't really want to bore everyone with yet another RPing story, was the back story, but I'm attempting to RP a Bosmer that is a devout follower of Jephre/Y'ffre. Something different for me to get my teeth into. I fully understand I may be misinterpreting certain details and that's why I'm here asking what I'm asking.

I'm kinda wanting to apply strict limits on myself whilst sticking as much to the lore as I possibly can.

Put it another way, how would one RP a devout follower of Jephre/Y'ffre?
