The Grey Blood Company OOC Thread #3

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 2:26 pm

You guys still looking for people? I'm interested.

We are indeed, I'm glad to hear you're looking to join. :) As the others said, go ahead and make a CS and send it to me; after that feel free to jump in wherever. In case you haven't read yet, we are currently split into two groups, red and yellow, either of which you can join. The red are currently fighting for their lives against the Legion in the middle of the barracks, and the yellow are, I believe, currently having their own fight in the Arena. It's mostly free form right now, so you're welcome to do just about anything; we'll be assembling soon to see the emperor, but for the moment there are a few more things to sort out amongst ourselves.

Just a note: PM it to Darkom95 as well, as he is the official GM.

A new character would be cool, I just hope that we get going soon... Also, when crafting your CS, try to have some idea of a plausible reason for them joining the group after we leave the city.

Well, as I said before, if people get tired of acting out their own storylines we can always skip to the audience with the emperor. You guys shouldn't have much problem after the fight, of course, but red group's going to need to sort themselves out first. I expect within the next week or so we should be at a point where we can move on. If not, well, we'll just move on anyways. :P

How does everyone feel about the current state of affairs? Keep going with things as they are for a while longer, or start preparing for our next skip?

Sorry if my previous post implied otherwise, but I do like how everything's going right now, and I feel like we are on track. It obviously hasn't happened yet and is therefore unknowable, but I see the immediate future going something like this: the Arena match ends, the business with Benalin gets closure, the barracks brawl gets resolved in some way that doesn't involve the death of active RPers, a messenger comes, somebody runs to get the Arena group, and anybody who is with Lycus/Illana (are they really the only ones left from the original thread?) who is new in this RP comes with them to see what is happening, and everybody gets caught up in the big events and heads out for Skyrim.

OK, after typing that out, it seems a lot longer than I was originally imagining, but I agree with you that it should take about a week, as long as the post rate remains reasonable.

That comes after we meet the Emperor if I recall?

My post will be up in an hour-ish

Ah, you forgot the part where the Thalmor invade.

Were we planning to RP that? That's what I meant by the "big events."

So, I guess that there are three basic options: decide to leave early because it's a lost cause, leave with some refugees during the actual invasion because it took us that long for us to realize that it's a lost cause, or leave with what's left of the Legion after the Emperor orders a retreat, recognizing that it's a lost cause.

I'm fine with anything, I guess that I just assumed that we were going to leave before the assault, or just time-skip past it. What did everybody else have in mind?

Well, see, I had plans to RP the assault. But it's up to Darkom to do it. It shouldn't be long though, I think the assault should be super short.

I figured that we'd leave with refugees during the invasion, which would be after we'd met the Emperor and warned him (albeit too late).

I don't mind either way, but I think that option allows us for both a little bit of fighting and running. ^_^

Nice post, I am almost done with mine. How should we end this arena match? I am on my last paragraph and I would like to know what might happen to the Redguard.

Well, by lore, the only people that manage to get out of the city are those that go with the emperor north when he breaks through the Thalmor lines. I imagine, since they have surrounded the city, that the Thalmor would not simply let a group of refugees escape. Besides that, I would also imagine the city would try to prevent massive numbers of refugees from fleeing individually; an organized party, maybe, but like I said, the Thalmor have them surrounded.

As such, my plans were to convince the emperor to let us accompany him in his final desperate attempt to break the Thalmor lines. We would be fighting against the Aldmeri for a little while, but nothing drawn out or dramatic. I imagine the emperor would want to break and run quickly, to meet up with his Nordic reinforcements in the north. At which point we would bid him a fond farewell and make our own way into Skyrim to begin the Gray Bloods proper. :)

Oh ok, that makes sense. Sounds good to me.

So, Werewolf/Arathorn, I was going to make a post to narrate, talk with Illana, and probably start heading toward the Bloodworks, but I was wondering what happened to Rensheera, the Argonian gladiator. In my previous IC post, I guess I had hoped that his fate would get decided; I left him with an incoming frost blast. However, he hasn't been mentioned really; it probably makes sense for him to die, because he wasn't there to take down the Orc, but that wouldn't have happened from one spell, so somebody else killed him somewhere between your posts. Do either of you have a preference? I don't think that he's important, but I wanted to double-check before killing him off.

Also, Arathorn, what's your plan for dealing with that leg? Can the fountain thingy in the Bloodworks fix that, or did you have something else in mind? I only ask because Rashaava has a few restorative potions with him, so he could use those, but only if you didn't really have something else in mind. We probably want to minimize crippling injuries if we plan to fight/run out of the city

I knew something was going on. I had a feeling I was missing something, then you came along. I don't have a preference, he can be killed off if you would like. I totally forgot to add him getting blasted by the spell.

I didn't plan on him waking up any time soon, but I guess since he is only unconcious in a fight to the death, I don't mind if you finish him off. I was hoping Lycus would come over to help Kai up, but it's up to you?

So, Werewolf/Arathorn, I was going to make a post to narrate, talk with Illana, and probably start heading toward the Bloodworks, but I was wondering what happened to Rensheera, the Argonian gladiator.

The only reason I left the Argonian out of it, is because I wasn't sure who exactly was fighting him, since we already had killed the Nord and Breton and were moving onto the Orc and Redguard, I was unsure how it fitted in. You can narrate that he dies though, that's fine with me.

With regards to my leg, I don't necassarily mind. I was going to use it as a hinderance to Kai whilst escaping to make things a little more exciting. The thought of the Bloodworks fountain hadn't crossed my mind and although it fits into the lore it seems a bit unfair to be completely healed after such a battle. Feel free to offer Kai a potion when you see him, however I can't guarentee that he'll take it, mainly due to his pride but also because he still has no idea that the Thalmor are on his doorstep. :P

Name: 'Ace'
Race: Nord
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Sign: Warrior
Home Country: Skyrim
Faction and Rank: Empire - General
Class: Knight
Skills: Blade, One Handed Weapons, Light Armor, Block, Marksman, Sneak
Appearance: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XL7DNILu0Po/TVD9vSC2vkI/AAAAAAAAEFw/tPRVp_ayaF4/s1600/Lu+Bu.jpg
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Build: Ace stands at 6'4, he weighs 196 pounds of pure muscle, however due to his long legs and the power generated by his legs he still is a fast runner despite his size.

Personality: Ace is honourable and noble; he believes passionately in the greatness of his kingdom and would have defended its people to the very last. Ace craves glory, rank and riches, he will seek to take opportunities that will allow himself to be bettered but not if that opportunity puts the people of his lord in danger or any allies for that matter. He is strong willed and will never give up, he hates to retreat but in order to save the lives of others and win the battle on another day he will take that option.

Ever calculating, ever manipulating, Ace spends not a single second without coordinating multiple routes to achieve his goals. He serves The Emperor with a loyal face, but his hidden agenda is much more silently speaking of betrayal. He demands perfection in everything, including warfare, and if everything is not in perfect order, he does not engage. For this, he is often called a coward by his enemies, but he silences all words against him when met on even terms in the field of battle.

Weapons: Halberd and a Bow

Magic: None

History: Ace was born into a middle class family. They owned a large farm and instead of going to a school, he worked on the farm and was taught military tactics by his father, who was a minor officer serving for the empire. As he grew older, he was taught first how to wield a sword and then how to use his halberd. Ace soon began to understand the important of the bow and how effective it is and soon took up archery lessons which his parents paid for. He skills with the bow began to shine as he would entire competitions across the land, winning many. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Empires army, he was assigned to his fathers unit. Both parties were delighted by this. However, a few years down the line when Ace was 22 disaster stuck. His unit had been assigned to escort a caravan that was of importance to the Empire, carrying gold, food and other supplies. The caravan was ambushed by a group of bandits and his father was struck down. The unit of 7 men now became 3, Ace, John and Claude. Ace told Claude to go to the local town, which was around 1000m away, to get the locals to help clear the bodies from the road, whilst he and John tracked the bandits. They followed the bandit group down to a small shore, where they had a makeshift camp set up. Ace memorized the location of the camp and returned to the village to get Claude and they waited until nightfall. They returned to the camp, Ace drew his bow.. The two men patrolling the area soon fell. John and Claude moved into the camp, killing 3 bandits that were still around the camp fire. Their screams alerted the leader, who came out of his tent wielding a large axe, sadly Claude was decapitated by this Axe. Another man had seized John and threw him on the floor infront of the leader to be executed, as he raised his Axe two arrows came from the bushes striking his stomach and throat. The remaining bandit fled. Ace helped John to his feet and returned what was left of the caravan to the Imperial City, upon which he and John were rewarded handsomely, with Ace being promoted to his fathers position of General. 14 years have passed since that time, and still he holds the same position.. he needed a war to distinguish himself, and become the most feared name in the land. With the Thalmor attack coming soon, it was just the opportunity that he had wanted.

Treason, eh? Poor outnumbered Vaultren.

Hey, let's just assume there is a dead body in the room somewhere, or at least as skeleton.

Edit: We have a Katsumoto Kenshi in the RP!

Hello JButton, good to see you're interested in joining the RP. The sheet looks good, though I would have preferred it was PMed to Jonas or myself first. I have a couple of questions before I give you the all clear to jump in, however. Firstly, is Ace a high ranking general of the Legion, or just a minor one? If he is too far up on the totem pole in the Empire he probably wouldn't have the incentive to join up with us after we leave Cyrodiil, what with the whole battle for the Imperial City going on and whatnot. Also, was he promoted to his current rank just for the retribution on the bandits? Not that it's a big deal, I was just wondering how he moved up so quickly just to remain in the same position for fourteen years.

Other than that it looks good though, glad to have you with us. :) Do you know which group you will be joining? My group (red) is currently fighting the legion in the barracks, while the other party (yellow) is fighting in the arena. Either is fine, it's really up to how you want to introduce your character, as we'll be joining back together soon.

Oh i'm sorry I didn't realise. He is a minor general, in control of a few men who work under him. More like a captain than general, I just prefer the word haha! He was given the rank because of his fathers death added to his small but commendable feat. He remains in the same position because he hasn't been tasked with anything big that could warrant promotion, and he would see this as a chance to prove himself and show what he is capable of.

I'll need to do a more thorough read through first, I'm going to bed now so i'll do that tomorrow and introduce myself in then.

Alright, that's what I thought. You're fine then, no worries. As soon as you feel ready you may begin posting. ;) This section of the RP is very free form, so whatever you want to do should be fine, just be sure to clear it by Jonas or myself first.

And I'm certain there are Bretons named John; naming conventions in the Elder Scrolls have never really but set in stone, and RPers don't really have to listen to lore anyways. :P

The red team posters aren't going to post. Permission to use deadly force?

You may control their characters until they return, but no one should be killed yet. I was thinking we would hold the door against the initial guards and overpower Vaultren, taking him hostage for use in negotiating our safety. As the situation threatens to boil into death for everyone, the emperor's messenger comes along, requesting the ex-prisoners come to his audience chamber immediately. Thus we are taken, under heavy guard and without weapons, to the emperor's chamber, where Vaultren may try to convince the emperor to kill us.

Not to mention there are a few new members looking to join in shortly, so the posting should pick up momentarily. :) Speaking of, if any of you need any help on where to jump in or what's going on, please feel free to ask. I'm sure anyone here would be more than willing to help out.
