The guns sound alot cooler when enemies use them

Okay, so something I've noticed is when an NPC is firing a gun, the sound is alot more different than when you or I fire it, I've noticed for example the LMG is one of those guns. But like I said, is this me or is there an actual difference in firing sound?

I know for a fact that there are "close" and "distant" gun sounds used. I also belive there is a completely seperate "VATS" sound used for each weapon. I'm assuming that your companions are not so far away as to hear the "distant" sound, but maybe they're giving off "close" and you're giving off "VATS". Or maybe there's a different sound recorded for when the PC fires, as well as close and distant NPC sounds and VATS sounds. Can't someone look this up in the geck?

-Gunny out.
