The Havok System

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:31 pm

This is amazing, truly. http://www.havok.com/index.php?page=havok-behavior is a link to the http://www.havok.com/index.php?page=havok-behavior This will help out tremendously in production of Skyrim saving a lot of time. You know what that means. A much better game! I'm really glad this program exist.

Edit - Sorry for not being specific this thread is about havok behavior. Taking away to script the animations of the NPCs and PCs. Watch the video it's really well done. I'm almost certain they didn't have havok behavior in oblivion only physics. If someone can prove me wrong go ahead.

Havok Behaviour was not in any major game yet, until now of course. From the video preview on their website, it looks really good!

And I'm pretty sure Tom's right. I haven't heard of any games using Havok Behavior yet. It's brand new and it looks gorgeous.

Watching that Havok Behavior promo video makes me highly hopeful that we now have diagonal movement animations. :D

If you look at the videos at the havok page then you can see that havok behaviour also supports animation of clothes!

The video "Retargeting Blending" shows cloth physics.
:).

Hopefully they implement this in Skyrim too!

Isn't that Euphoria better? Perhaps I'm wrong. I'm not sure.

It's hard to judge from the video on that website.
Still, Uncharted 2 used Havok, right? And their animations were really good.

I guess if Todd said it was the best, it's the best. I hope so, would be amazing :D

That's some pretty good stuff. Who needs Euphoria when you can have this.

I was kinda hoping they would be using Euphoria, as we have already seen that in a couple of games (Force Unleashed, GTA4 & Red Dead Redemption) with great success. It it simply an amazing animation-engine. Hopefully Havok Behavior does the same either equally as good or better. If it does it worse it will show because other already got awesomeness.

Anyone else watch the destruction videos on havok's website? That and the dragons being able to attack villages makes me hope for destructible environments. :celebration:

About half way through the video it shows the on-NPC cloth animations. Cloaks a possibility!

I like what I've read so far on the Behavior system. I hope BGS has something similar to the Havoc Physics engine in as well. It sounds good I can't wait for more updates.

We'll have to wait and see... I would assume so since those are apart of the video demos for "havok behavior"

Well we know they are using havok behavior, I don't know if they'll have included with that the havok cloth system. I really hope they do.

Well from what I can find, only one game has used the Havok Behavior program before Skyrim and that's something called "Kung-fu Rider". So let's find some videos of it's animations and see what that games animators did with it. Of course it won't be for sure a good comparison because they could have bad animators or insanely good, we just won't know.

That game is honestly one of the worst pieces of **** I have ever played! :yucky:

You simply mentioning that game in relation to Skyrim fills me up with chills of fear.

Guys, "Havok" is just a brand name. There are at least two distinct Havok products going into Skyrim: The physics engine most commonly associated with the Havok brand, and this new animation blending apparatus called "Behavior". Two entirely different beasts, though the might be modular with each other when their purviews overlap.
