The 揘PC Head Replacer?Comparison Thread!

You need to tell us which mod you downloaded. If you've seen an NPC before then the head may be saved, but if the mod is pluginless then it will still work okay.

I downloaded the vvardenful faces. Its supposed to be plugin less but for some reason I put the meshes and textures in and all the faces still look the same. I tried deleting the data file and reinstalling and nothing changed. I guess Im lost...

Okay, there are a couple of possible causes:

- Are you sure you put the meshes/textures into the right folders? The head and hair meshes should be in Data Files\Meshes\B, and the textures go straight into Data Files\Textures.

- Are you using the Steam version of Morrowind, by any chance? If so, the game's BSA files will overwrite anything else in the Data Files folder because they have a later date. You can use a program like http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/filedatech.html to redate Morrowind.bsa (and Tribunal/Bloodmoon.bsa, if necessary) to 1/1/2002, which should cause the new meshes and textures to load properly.

Yes I have the meshes and textures in the right folders. Unless... Well when looking at the meshes and textures folders it seems that the folders look like this. meshes>meshes>then all my other folders. I think this is because of my better bodies mod. Once I click on either meshes or textures their is a folder that says bb and then one that will say meshes or textures depending on which I'm looking at. Is this a problem? Do I need to be reordering my files?

I also do not have the steam version, I have the GOTY box set.

On a separate not how noticeable should the better bodies mod be?

It is very noticeable, once you've seen the difference, you want no other, especially not the vanilla ones. Anyway, there's the problem, your folders. Those folders named bb should go in Data Files/Meshes, same goes for the textures folder.

You can't have a meshes folder in your meshes folder. That won't work.
Grab the meshes folder that is in your meshes folder, and drop it into your Data Files folder. Say Yes to any overwrites.
Very. You will notice a huge difference in what the bodies look like.

as long as someone's naked. if you don't use better clothes, the dressed bodies will look like before. you will notice, when you go to suran into desele's house of earthly delights...

You're probably using Vista or Windows7, right?
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/page__p__11389133#entry11389133

It is also very easy to just make a macro with MGE, so you can use any key you want as the console.

If you have more issues, I suggest making a new thread to, so as to not derail this one.

Hello, I'm having a problem with the mod Changing Faces NPC Replacer. They claim that there will be hardly anymore clones, but in my game, every guard has the same face, the one that Caius Cosades has. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

It's also worth too mention http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Headreplacers.htm by Emma with some nice screenshots.
AfroKing if you have the time it would be awesome if you would update this wonderful thread. Btw if anyone are bored by the default faces at Seyda Neen I highly recommend http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14006. The uploader over at Nexus didn't provided any screenshots for this mod, but because of AfroKing's great comparison screenshots it's now a must-have for me. It's sad that Boethiah539 only did this Head mod for Morrowind. I like his style very much, it's really lore friendly. Imo it shoud basically just improve the quality of the faces. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/521/ufpseydaneen2.jpg as seen in Unique Faces Project - Seyda Neen is a very good example of what I mean a Head Replacer should be. It still looks like Fargoth before and after just better.
I love such regionally themed Head replacer mods, soo if anyone have some more suggestions besides what's in this thread I would be very happy.

Hi y鈥檃ll

First thing, let me thank every forumer who took the time to leave some feedback. You have no idea how proud I am to hear that this thread has been useful to the community.

This motivates me to resume working on it. I was actually quite amazed, a few minutes ago, when I realized that my last update dates back to September 2009. Wow. Time flows鈥? /hehe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hehe:' />

Again, everything that was promised will be done. It will just take some time鈥?/span> /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

This and Emma鈥檚 LGNPC Khuul Head Replacer. And Wesly鈥檚 Head Replacer when it鈥檚 completed. And uploading the whole thread to GHF once everything is done.

Regarding the choice of the main quest NPCs who will be featured in my comparison pics, I will follow Helena鈥檚 suggestions:

Now, I will welcome some input for Tribunal and Bloodmoon NPCs, as well as a small selection of Orcs, Khajiits and Argonian NPCs.

Thanks! /thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hi AfroKing and thanks again for making this wonderful thread. For some odd reasons I can't find All New Faces Compilation, by Tanjo anywhere on my old HD. I have tried too download it again but as always I have never been able too download anything from CNET.com. Does you known another place where it might be hosted or perhaps you would be soo kind too upload it some where else and give me a download link?

Well here's another head & hair replacer for you /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> It is pluginless so only replaces vanilla meshes and does not touch the beast races or orcs.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40448

As per Helena's suggestion I have taken some screenshots of main NPC's

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/5642/mehra.jpg - no wonder Cosades liked her so much
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9863/orvas.jpg - maybe a bit young - definitely ambitious - worth checking against the vanilla face
http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/6421/bolvyn.jpg - that mohawk held this mod up for over 9 months
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/5166/aryon.jpg - I'm happy with that
http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/845/nibani.jpg - maybe some see her as more wizened - I'm neutral
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/9674/sulmatuul.jpg - I'm happy with that

Hope it helps others make a choice to use or not

Just saw this for the first time, and now you've convinced me to use Vvardenfell Visages instead of Better Heads. Thanks!!

I remember years ago a mod that altered the heads and faces, I think it was called reds or rheds heads? I don`t remember if it was included in any of the mods in your list but I think it was a husband and wife team who were doing them. They looked very good too and at the time those were the best looing faces around if I remember right. Ican`t even find anything relating to them anymore.

Some of the head replacers still use some of Rhedd's work.

His work can be found on PES: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=2034

Sweet list, thanks for your hard work man!

But what the hell is up with all the head replacers having that horrible dark elf head with nose rings, the one Jiub has, it's ugly and ridiculous. XD

Great to see this.
Comparing all those "Head replacers" judging by the screenshots Vvardenfell Visages looks the best to me.
Have to give that one a try.

Does none of these replacers use the Westly faces?!

Im willing to make a new "quality" head replacer. If someone could tell me how to do it or refer me to a tutorial. I tried finding out at my own but couldnt figure out how to do it exactly..

Im sure it takes up a lot of time, but on the other hand I imagine its also fun to do, cause with picking the face you are giving the character a unique identity which adds a lot to the gameplay /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I have some experience in making fully 3d soccer players faces (models and textures) for Pro evolution Soccer, so I could also make some new faces. Just need the right tools and someone who tells me what tools I need!

Welcome to the forum xSaiko

If I recall correctly Westly contributed many faces to Better Heads - not sure about Leelo's work

Models are made either using an earlier version of 3DS Max or Blender using additional plugins - you will find Nifskope invaluable as well - haven't seen too many tutorials on making a mesh of a face - there are various texturing ones around though

Many of the heads used in replacers were created by Rhedd and another person who's name escapes me - I think he/she did the teeth and is often not mentioned in credits

It took me over 2 years to make Fresh Faces II which is not on this list but comparison shots can still be found in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/981790-wip-fresh-faces-ii/page__fromsearch__1 of before and after - Westly has been ticking away at a comprehensive face replacer for over 2 years as well
