The "Hero Factor" and realism

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:09 pm

I've played the game quite a bit and today i finally got a Daedric full armor set.

The armor is cool and all, but after i got it the game became ridiculously boring.

Why?

I realised that a true hero isn't the one who looks like a god and kills everything in a blink of an eye.

The true one is that who looks like? any ordinary warrior but, through his skills and bravery, overcomes great challenges.

Who deserves more respect, an fullplate-shiny warrior who kills a dragon or an ordinary warrior who kills a dragon? See my point?

After that, i've choosen to change back to the iron stuff (the helm looks gorgeous anyway).

It's not what you wear, but who you are, Dragonborn!

Nope... there's lots of hero's who look badass... also everyone has their opnion on how a hero should look, you don't really need to overpower yourself if you don't want to.

My character doesn't even consider himself a hero, hes just doing what he feels needs to be done.

That being said, he doesn't wear anything more powerful than The Thieve's Guild starting armor.

My Imperial is venturing through the land of Skyrim with nothing but his well-weathered Imperial light armour, as a matter of allegiance and loyalty. It's come to the point where he's more comfortable in his light Legion uniform than in regular town clothing.

I don't like heavy armour so... yeah, I agree with you.

For a true Germanic-esque feeling, give me a chainmail hueberk. I'd be happy :).

But, really, I'd love to just fight in the studded armour all the time if it didn't lead to my deatha ll the time. Imo, high teir armour and weapons look rediculous.

Looks too unreal for an armor.

i think npc should react according to your armor.. like.. you giving a vibe of being creep, evil, awesome, or other thing. like wearing Daedra armor might make some people avoid talking to you because it is evil.. something like that. :)

Yeah, I maxed Smithing (mind you, I only made two iron daggers in the ENTIRE time I leveled it), and my guy is dashing around in Daedric Armor with Lydia in Dragonplate.

I've been playing him a certain way, so he's badly gimped, though. He can't use ANY offensive magic, nor a bow. His only offensive shout is Frost Breath, which is fairly weak and many enemies have strong resistances against it. So, he gets torn apart by mages, archers, dragons (especially frost dragons of any variety), and other ranged damage types.

Your guy can still be clad from head to toe in armor and still be a hero. I mean, look at Batman or Superman. Superman is INVINCIBLE, and he's the ultimate insignia of a hero. Batman is wearing bulletproof armor that can take several shots, and he's still a hero.

I kinda disagree about this because when I think hero slaying dragons, the image I have is of a knight in full armor, holding his shield up to a stream of dragon fire.

Looks too unreal for an armor.

Daedric is supposed to look unreal and unbelievable. First off it's made of the strongest metal in all of Nirn, Ebony, which might I add is an imaginary substance. On top of that, it has been forged together with the souls of Daedra. I would expect Daedric armor to look like this.

I do, however, agree about the other types of armor. I think the Ebony should have been a little more believable.

My hero is a villain and is too busy looking badass and assassinating things in a very tight fitting Dark Brotherhood outfit to care about being all proper and romantic.
